He smiled and glanced back at the hospital's entrance, a subtle shadow lingering under his eyelashes,

leaving his thoughts inscrutable.

Jaxon's driver arrived just in time to pick him up. Jaxon acknowledged with a nod before getting into the

car and driving away.

Anastasia stood still for a moment, her body tense. As she was about to get into the car, she heard the

man's stern and icy voice from behind, asking, "Why are you with Jaxon?"

He had Brian take the injured Beatrice back to the hospital room and didn't bother with her

unnecessary explanations.

The image of Jaxon's hand on Anastasia's shoulder as he left flashed through his mind, and he couldn't

help but think, "When did they become so close? Are they doing this on purpose to get a reaction from

me?"

An unexplainable emotion welled within Christian, a restless mixed with cold melancholy feeling, but he

couldn't vent it.

Anastasia's complexion turned pale while paying no attention to him.

What Jaxon said a moment ago was truly astonishing.

She genuinely wanted to confirm the truth.

Anastasia suppressed her emotions and opened the car door, but someone grabbed the door before

she could step inside.

"He wasn't someone you should be around. You'd better stay away from him."

Christian's voice was cold and carried a hint of warning.

Anastasia shot him a cold, expressionless look and retorted, "It's none of your damn business!"

She forcefully slammed the car door shut, not bothering to look back, and immediately started the car.

She didn't have much attachment to Christian, but she was determined to find out what was real and

what was not.

Either way, she wouldn't let them off easily.

Once back at the company, Anastasia hesitated briefly before calling one of the hospital directors.

She thought about Charlie being hospitalized, and getting blood samples and hair strands would be

easy.

The difficult part was Christian, who had bodyguards lurking everywhere and had his very own private

doctor. She knew this required a different approach.

While she was deep in thought, a sudden knock on the door interrupted her.

Before Anastasia could say anything, the other person opened the door and walked in.

The person was George Maxwell, a male agent with long hair, who was one of the company's top

performers.

He was well-known in the fashion circle, having mentored many A-list celebrities, making him naturally

arrogant and boastful.

George spoke, "Ms. Graves, sorry to bother you."

He swaggered into the room, his face caked with a heavy white foundation. His eyes were outlined with

long, slender eyeliner, and he wore bold red lipstick. He wore a flashy floral shirt and trousers, and his

earrings jingled as he walked.

Anastasia blinked in surprise and raised her head to look at George.

George said he was sorry for disturbing her, but his expression showed no hint of apology. Instead, he

seemed dismissive and impatient, not bothering to look at her directly. His voice was sharp and NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

somewhat sarcastic, saying, "This is the list for the upcoming TV show, and they've only given us four

slots. Ms. Graves, sign it now so I can take it to the TV station."

He tossed the documents onto Anastasia's desk and plopped on the chair before her. He didn't bother

with pleasantries, making it clear he was in a hurry.

George treated Anastasia as if she were merely a tool.

After a brief pause, Anastasia smiled and proceeded to open the list.

The list displayed Beatrice's name in bold, while the name of Mae, who had spoken out online, was

missing.

Anastasia narrowed her eyes, appearing composed as she closed the list and questioned, "Why is

Beatrice still on the list? Why was Mae taken off?"

She appeared quite displeased with the situation.

Anastasia mused, "Beatrice almost overturned the entire entertainment industry. If Starlight

Entertainment keeps her, we'll have a lot of backlash, won't we?"

George gave her a slightly irritated look while scrolling through his phone. He casually adjusted his

sizable flower-shaped earrings and spoke indifferently, tinged with annoyance and reproach.

"Mae made a grave mistake by secretly filming at the party, breaking a major industry taboo. Besides,

her talent is mediocre, and she doesn't have much potential. On the contrary, Beatrice is currently a hot

topic. If she participates in a TV show, the ratings will skyrocket!"

Anastasia calmly shifted her gaze and stated, "It was my idea to have Mae release that video. Plus, I

don't think her talent is mediocre. I won't sign it if you don't remove Beatrice from this list and include

Mae instead."

Her demeanor was aloof as she shut the file.

George grew impatient and slammed his phone on the table. His once soft and gentle voice now turned

sharp and cold as he scolded, "Oh, Ms. Graves, how high and mighty you are. If you don't know how

things work in this industry, don't try to boss people around!"

Anastasia smirked and responded, "I am the director. Of course, I have the authority to boss you

around."

George's face instantly turned sour. He then swiftly straightened his posture and stood up. With one

hand on his waist and the other fanning himself, he appeared as if Anastasia had infuriated him. His

voice became sharp, and he started berating her.

"To be honest with you, Beatrice is backed by the President of the Patterson Group. You can't afford to

offend this woman! So, what if you're the director? You're not Christian's wife. In front of these powerful

people, you're nothing more than a lapdog, wagging your tail to please them."
