Chapter Twenty-eight
“How did she take it?”
“As good as expected.”
Matteo cuts off their conversation, knowing he didn’t want to discuss more about the woman. At that moment he had his clarity, he knows his main focus which was to find Antonio then get him back and kill him in a slow painful death.
“So, are you sure that he’s here in the Keys? that it was not someone else?” Matteo asked Paolo as he walked further into the room.
“Yes, see here? I’ve run a facial recognition from the CCTV here, he had changed his hair color, added facial hair, but his height, posture, and facial structure matched.”From NôvelDrama.Org.
Matteo stepped in closer and watched the screen intensely then nodded to Paolo’s observation.
“I’m looking into the outdoor CCTV and hacked into several buildings surrounding us and traffic cameras to trace him.”
They were making sure that he would not get away from them. And having Amara who was depending on her life on him, was making him more sure of himself.
They’ve spent hours hacking and tracing down Antonio’s profile and making more complete and detailed information about his resources. Matteo was in contact with Leo back in the city and coordinate to eliminate Antonio’s backup and make sure that he would be isolated in the keys with minimum resources.
Both men were busy that they failed to realize that Amara was being targeted at that exact moment. She was resting, tucked away in her suite when a masked man entered her room from the ceiling.
He talked to his crew who was still waiting for his instructions while he slowly makes his way into the bedroom. There he saw the heiress sleeping soundly like she didn’t have a care in the world. He hated her, he hated her so bad that he wanted to kill her right there and then.
But inside he knows he has to carry on with his plan. So he carefully sneaks up behind her and silences her with duct tape.
“Amara, this is for my wife and my son.”
She looked up at him while her heart was breaking again. He looked different. His scent, his voice, his strong arms, were once the things she longed for the most. She had cried for him, so many nights, yet there he was trying to kill her.
Amara struggled, crying but angry at the same time, she hated him for using her. He picked her up easily then communicated with his crew. Gunshots were heard and she was picked up to his shoulder with her hands and feet tied up.
She could hear Paolo and Matteo were shouting calling for their men. She just hoped that Peter was okay and that nothing happened to him. But as if she called him out from her thoughts he appeared holding a gun.
Amara muffled her disapproval by shaking her head and muffling her words, as best as she can. While Peter looked at her and was about to take a shot, but Antonio fired his gun and then she let out a muffled scream when Paolo was quick to shield him and take a hit to his chest and fall back to Peter making both falls to the floor.
She cried, she cried so hard when all hell breaks loose that day. Everything seems to fall apart in front of her eyes and all she could hope was for Matteo to lay low. But obviously, it was not happening as he shot two of Antonio’s men like a raging mad man.
She could only watch while Antonio was taking her away from them, she almost fell when Antonio’s arm was hit by Matteo. He was screaming at Antonio, trying to have a clear shot while his men keep on shooting at Matteo and his guards.
“Fuck!” Antonio cursed and told her to stay still when they reached his car. He was driving on his own, while Amara was placed in the back seat of the car. She kept on struggling to try to break free until he knocks her unconscious with the end of his gun.
“Why…”
Amara asked with her raspy voice when she was conscious hours later. She was not duct-taped anymore, but she was tied and sat down on a dining chair in the middle of the room. Antonio was facing the other way, typing on a laptop.
“Ah, you’re awake. How are you my love?” he turned around mocking her with his question.
“Why?”
She asked again while Antonio came up to her with a glass of water.
“Because I love my wife and my son. I’m sure Leonardo and his crew had given you my details.” He calmly said while giving her the water which she drank not realizing that she was parched.
“Why… haven’t you killed me already?” she asked her complete question.
“Well… that’s because we’re going to get married. Then your family fortune will legally be mine.” He looked at her smiling widely.
“You can never do it, authorities will assume, my lawyers won’t go through with it.”
“Damn it, Amara! don’t you get it by now that I’d kill anyone in my path?!” he slammed his hand to the table so hard it startled her.
She felt the shiver down her spine, and she believed he would do just that when a tear slipped from the corner of her eye. Amara remembered her dad, and also Rick her dad’s head of security who died because of him then she shed another tear for them.
“It… won’t bring them back. The money won’t bring…” he slapped her so hard that she could taste the blood.
“I don’t give a fu…” he didn’t get a chance to finish his words when an alarm was triggered and he cursed then went straight for his guns.
He didn’t look like the charming man she once loved. He looked like a crazy driven psychopath, obsessed with killing everyone who would stand in his way.
Amara hears him calling out his men, but none reply. Then he typed on his laptop only to curse some more.
“I’m going to kill those bastards!”
But he was still walking to Amara when the door bursts open and she could see Matteo was in front of those men, scanning the room then stopping when he saw her.
“You’re looking for her?”
Amara could hear his calm icy tone while she feels the tip of his gun on her temple.
“Get the fuck away from her!” Matteo yelled as he stepped forward, making Amara shake her head not wanting him to get hurt because of her.
“Matteo, don’t!”
“Woah, what do we have here… have you been fucking this guy after I was found dead?” Antonio made her stand up in front of him, shielding him from Matteo and his men.
“I thought you love me?” he grabbed her face and licked her cheek trying to rile up Matteo, while Amara shuddered in his arms hating the sick psychotic man that was holding her.
But then within seconds, she screamed when his blood splattered on her face, he falls instantly taking her with him. But she was swiftly grabbed just before she hits the floor.
“I’m so sorry, I’m sorry that I killed him so soon.”
She was about to break down into his arms when she heard his last word making her smile.
Oh… Matteo.
