MEETING THE HUMAN
"Hmm, I don't really know what you can do to get in, but I think you can start by..." Medusa paused, looking at the employees. "You can steal someone's identity to get inside." She suggested. Lucinda was about to protest when she turned invisible and flew away in the direction of the east, leaving Lucinda alone. Lucinda's palm was sweaty as she counted her steps through the building's iron gate.
She noticed everyone was wearing ID cards around their necks. She was the only odd one. She spotted a man who had just entered the building. The man was dressed in a stylish suit. She sighed and changed into the man. She sauntered to the security man, who looked at her in a confused manner.
"S-Sir, I thought you just entered a few minutes ago?" The man said it in a shaky tone.
"No, I just arrived." Lucifer replied, forging a male voice with her hand on her throat.
"Alright." He scanned her and allowed her to enter. She walked into the company, and the entire staff gazed at her.
"Welcome, sir!" They chorused, bowing their heads, and while some of them were confused, they were sure they had seen the man before. She nodded her head at them, and they turned back to their laptops in their cubicles and continued their jobs. She looked around and spotted the man she had stolen his appearance from as he entered an elevator. To avoid being seen in the same space as the man, she followed him into the elevator. The man was busy pressing the buttons in the elevator.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
"What floor would you like to go to?" He asked her without looking at her.
"The one you are going." She replied bluntly.
"Okay." He replied as the door of the elevator closed, and he met eyes with Lucinda, who waved her hand at him.
"Nice to meet you." She said with a friendly smile. The man staggered backward in shock, his back against the wall of the elevator, as he looked at her in disbelief. "W-Wait, y-you look just like me," he stuttered, pointing at her with his index finger. She moved closer to him and placed her hand on his lips. "Shhh," she said.
"Ahh...." Before the man could scream, Lucinda hovered around him and held his head; her fingers became long and sharp like those of a vampire. She gritted her teeth as she remembered all the sacrifices she needed to make to stay on earth. The man was struggling in her grip, but it was no use as she used her fingers to cut his throat.
Blood started spurting out of his neck, staining his clothes, as he was quivering in her grip. She let go of him, and he fell to the floor, shaking continuously before passing out of the floor. His blood started spreading on the floor of the elevator. Lucinda panicked as she looked at her blood-stained finger. She started levitating the drops of blood on the floor, put them all in a golden cup, and made them disappear.
She was gasping in horror as she made the fingers go back inside her hand.
The elevator stopped, and she looked around the corridor before walking out of the elevator with her heart beating rapidly in her chest. She started walking down the hallway.
She heard footsteps heading her away and immediately turned invisible to hide herself as the employees walking down the corridor came into view. They were talking to themselves, and they seemed to be heading to the elevator, which made Lucinda freak out, and she stood close to the wall opposite the door of the elevator that had refused to close because of the dead man's leg that was in the middle of the door.
The employees caught up to the elevator, and as they were about to enter, they sighted the dead man and started screaming at the top of their lungs like they had seen a ghost. "Oh my god!! Mr. Abel has been murdered in the elevator." One of them said.
"Help! Help! Mr. Abel has been murdered!!" Another one yelled as their voices echoed throughout the elevator. Their screams became louder as people started running to see what was making them shout. In less than a minute, the place was crowded with employees of the company; some of them were trying to help the dead man, while others were trying to figure out the cost of his death.
"How can this be possible? He has lost a lot of blood; there is literally no blood in his body, but there isn't any blood on the floor. Only the bloodstains on his shirt are an evidentiary sign of blood. How can his shirt absorb so much blood?" a security guard said. Mr. Abel's body was moved to the floor by a security personnel.
"This can only be the work of a demon. Are they ganging up on us because we hunt them down?" A girl said she was biting her finger in fear. Lucinda's heart was pounding in her chest as she stood there listening to the conversation of the employees, trying to understand what they were saying.
"The boss hasn't arrived yet. If he finds out what happened to his assistant, we are screwed!" One of them exclaimed, putting his hand on his face in frustration.
"We need to recruit new employees tomorrow; if not, we will be short of employees, but no one can replace Mr. Abel." A girl said she was sobbing as she was using a handkerchief to wipe her tears away.
"T-This job is starting to get scary. Now the demons that our boss has hired us to hunt are killing us one by one...we can't go on like this." an employee said with his lips trembling.
Lucinda just watched them as they put the dead man into a black plastic bag, zipping him up. She was feeling stuffy there, and she wasn't sure she would be able to meet the human because she wasn't in her right frame of mind after murdering someone for the first time.
Her body was shivering, and she felt disgusted and angry at herself as she saw the emotional display of the employees. She decided to leave the company so as not to cause any more drama. She turned back to her real self and started flying out of the company.
