Redmption 50
Redmption 50
Chris remained silent, then mockingly nodded after a long pause. “If you want. to be unreasonable, so be it.”
Even now, he didn’t think he was wrong. He still believed it was my fault. I
didn’t even want to argue with him anymore. I just said, “I’ll move out of your house.”
“My house?” Chris‘ eyes narrowed. “Madeline, you’ve really never considered that place your home, have you? It’s a shame that my parents cared so much. for you.”
I pressed my lips together. Didn’t he realize that I didn’t want his parents‘
affection but his? I had already decided to separate from him. So, there was no point in saying anything more.
“Mr. Gildon, I’ll get back to work,” I said. I didn’t mention quitting because I wanted to finish this project.
“Madeline, do you really want to break up with me?” Chris asked again. It seemed that he hadn’t heard me clearly before. I looked at him–the face I admired for ten years.
Then, I left him with a final, irrevocable statement. “Yes, Chris. I want to break up with you. From now on, you are you, and I am me. We will marry other people and have nothing to do with each other.”
Chris let out a broken and cold laugh. “Fine, Madeline. You said it. Don’t regret it.”
Regret? This was the second time he mentioned it. I didn’t know how he could
say
these words so confidently.
Maybe it was because of my ten years of infatuation. I followed him like a little fool, staying with him despite his repeated coldness and hurt.
“Goodbye,” I said and turned away.
Chris didn’t stop me. Just as I reached the door, I heard a knock. I opened the door and froze.
It was Jewel.

She looked at me with a flicker of panic in her eyes. But she forced a smile as if we were very close. “Madeline, you’re back?”
I didn’t say anything. My eyes fell on the document in her hand.
The red header of Gildon Corporation made me pause. This was an internal company document. It was something only employees would have access to, yet Jewel had it.
I was already surprised to see her here, even more so with a company document in her hand.
I didn’t respond to her. Jewel’s face showed a hint of embarrassment. “I’m here to deliver documents to Mr. Gildon.”
This “Mr. Gildon” clarified everything for me. Chris not only kept her hidden, but he also brought her into the company.
Kara hadn’t mentioned this to me. She was probably too busy. Or maybe she deliberately didn’t tell me to avoid upsetting me.
But now it didn’t matter. Whether Chris let Kara into the company or married her, it had nothing to do with me anymore.
“Please move aside. I need to leave,” I said.
It wasn’t that I was being inconsiderate to a pregnant woman. But even when riding in a car, it was a standard etiquette to let people out before getting in.
Jewel stepped aside, and I walked out quickly.
As the door closed behind me, I heard Chris questioning, “Why didn’t you tell me Madeline went to Dazzle Residence?”
I didn’t want to hear Jewel’s explanation because it was no longer my concern.
When I returned to the office, Kara immediately came over. “Ms. Crown, you went to Mr. Gildon’s office, right? What did you talk about? Did you guys make up?” Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
“What do you think? I looked at her.
Under my gaze, Kara nervously grabbed my arm. “I’m sorry, Ms. Crown. I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I was afraid you’d be upset…”

“You were afraid It would affect work, and you’d get scolded, right?” I voiced
her thoughts.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Crown…”
