Chapter 216 The Reunion of the Best Friends
At 10 am on Monday, Erin arrived at a fashion magazine’s office in Dunwich Garden. This was a women’s magazine and its name was very interesting–Airing, which sounded similar to Erin. Holly named it after Erin to honor her.
Erin came to Airing that day for an interview. She had submitted her comics to the magazine previously. That was because Airing had published a supplement last month, adding emotional stories, comics, and some promotional products that were targeting women into it.
Not long after Erin entered the reception area for the magazine, Holly came out of her office and whispered something to her secretary.
When Holly returned to her office again, she saw Erin waiting in the reception area from the corner of her eye, so she immediately asked
her secretary. Once her secretary informed her, she came straight to Erin.
Erin had been watching Holly’s movements through the glass door, so she was already incredibly excited and was forcing herself to hold
her tears back.
At that moment. Holly came in with a smile. “Miss Pamela, why didn’t you have my secretary inform me you were here? It’s a waste of your
time to keep you waiting.”
She came to Erin, extending her right hand. Erin immediately shook her hand and said with a chuckle. “I’m the one who’s ten minutes early. Miss Green, so I should be waiting.”
“Hahaha. You’re too polite, Miss Pamela. Shall we talk in my office?”
“Alright.”
Within two minutes, both of them were already in Holly’s office; and not long after they sat down, Holly’s secretary brought coffee in for
them. After she put the coffee down, she left, closing the glass door behind her.
Sitting on the couch, Holly said, “Miss Pamela, it’s really an honor to be able to invite you to a collaboration with our magazine!”
Erin looked at Holly very seriously, and her heart was still pounding because of the excitement. She had not seen her best friend for seven years. Reuniting with her again without making her identity known made Erin feel complicated and emotional.
She wanted to give Holly a hug that was long overdue, but she could not find a reason at that moment.
“You flatter me, Miss Green. It’s also my honor to be able to work with your magazine,” Erin said politely and sincerely.
Holly had beautiful makeup on, and she was wearing a fashionable suit, a simple diamond necklace around her neck, and a pair of four- inch heels that made her look exceptionally elegant. She smiled and said, “Miss Pamela, to be honest with you, I loved your work the first Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
time I saw it. The style of your comic bears a slight resemblance to the comic artist named AsaelMama. I’ve been following her comics religiously, but it’s a pity that she doesn’t have new content recently.”
Holly’s words made Erin feel touched. She did not expect her best friend to be a loyal fan of hers. Of course, she would not admit to Holly that she was AsaelMama, at least it was not the time yet.
“I actually know you, Miss Green. I’m Erin’s classmate in elementary school, but I’ve been living abroad. I only kept in touch with her online. back then, and she often spoke of you,” said Erin, taking out an exquisite box of almond shortbread cookies from her purse.
“Erin said the almond shortbread cookies from Holtz Bakery are your favorite. Fortunately, this long– established brand has finally put its classic, best–selling goods in stores. It’s much more convenient to get these cookies produced by this bakery now compared to the past.”
Watching Erin put the almond shortbread cookies on the coffee table, Holly looked surprised and touched, then tears started to well in her
eyes without her realizing it.
She immediately opened the box and helped herself, taking a bite out of one of the cookies. When the crispy, unique almond flavor spread around her mouth, tears suddenly streamed down Holly’s face. “It’s very tasty This is exactly how I remembered it.”
Watching her best friend cry, Erin held her tears back, grabbing a napkin from the coffee table and handing it to Holly.
“Thank you
“Holly put down the unfinished cookie and carefully wiped off the tears in the corner of her eyes. Still teary–eyed, she smiled and said, “I’m sorry I’ve embarrassed myself, Miss Pamela. I truly could not hold it in just now. These almond shortbread cookies just remind me of Erin when I see them…”
Erin looked at her without saying anything. A sense of understanding, tolerance, and immense guilt filled her eyes.
known to all her family and friends one day. She simply hoped that that day would not come too late.
“Erin Holly suddenly felt so upset that she did not continue her sentence.
At that moment. Erin said, “Miss Green, I believe Erin is definitely still alive! Perhaps it’s because of some reasons that couldn’t be helped that she hasn’t returned yet.”
What she said made Holly look at her immediately. “Miss Pamela, do you also think that Erin is still alive?”
“Mm–hmm. I believe she is still alive.” Erin said with great certainty.
Holly looked right at her. “Thank you for saying that. In fact, I also believe that she’s still alive I’ll definitely wait for her to come back. Before she does, I’ll definitely continue running this magazine well. She told me in the past that she wished to start a business with me one day. It’s been four years since I started this magazine, and I’ve already achieved some results now.”
Holly was still looking at Erin after saying that. She had a little suspicion as she smiled with her eyes. “Miss Pamela, after taking a closer look at you, I feel your eyes are quite similar to Erin’s, even your voice sounds very similar as well. It must be fate that we got to know each other. I would like to treat you to dinner tonight. I wonder if you’re available.”
At the thought that she had to teach her son that night, Erin rejected her politely, “I’m sorry. I have a class to teach tonight. If you’re willing. we can go another time.”
Holly smiled. “No problem. We’ll meet often in the future anyway- Let’s first get down to business then.”
In the next twenty minutes, Holly told Erin the themes that the magazine supplement needed, and Erin immediately noted them down in her notebook so that Holly would not have to send her another email after that.
“Miss Pamela, you shall submit a draft every week in the future. We’ll set aside three days‘ leeway so you’ll have time to edit should there be any last–minute changes to the digital draft for your comic. I wonder if you’re alright regarding the time.” Holly was very humble the whole time, and she did not act like a bossy editor–in–chief at all.
Erin agreed immediately. “There’s no problem with the time at all. I’ll email the digital drafts to you in the future.”
“Alright. Looking forward to having a pleasant collaboration with you. As for the payment, if you’re unhappy with anything, you can just tell me straight away, and we can talk things over. Also, if the sales of the magazine supplement are good, we have a quarterly bonus.” Holly shook hands with Erin once again.
Erin was prepared to leave because she had something on. She had an appointment with Sean in the afternoon to discuss the script.
“Miss Green, if you don’t mind, I’ll just call you Holly from now on, and you can call me Pam.”
“Sure, that’s fantastic. I don’t like to be so formal with you as well.” Holly was fond of this woman who claimed to be Erin’s elementary school classmate for some reason, and she never failed to sense Erin’s demeanor in her.
Within a minute. Holly personally ushered Erin out of the building. Just when they were about to bid each other farewell under a sycamore maple nearby, two women walked over from the parking lot in front of them.
It was Yvette and her assistant, Flora.
Holly was already looking at them, so Erin turned to look at them as well because Holly’s gaze shifted.
When Yvette and Flora came to Holly and Erin, Yvette immediately slapped Holly with a cold expression on her face.
It happened so suddenly that Holly got slapped because she was caught off guard.
While feeling surprised, Erin regained her senses and immediately pushed Yvette. Looking at her coldly, Erin questioned her, “You’ve gone too far, Yvette! Why did you slap her?”
