Chapter 2 Sue him
Chapter 2 Sue him
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, on the top floor of the Shen Group building, a tall, muscular
man leaned gracefully in his chair, casually drumming his fingers on the table as he listened to his
assistant's report. The gloomy sky outside the floor-to-ceiling window added to his mysterious aura.
"After the postponement of land development in the East District, many small companies that invested
have suffered losses. Among these, the Shao Group, which went bankrupt, has been acquired by our
company..." Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Shao Group?" he repeated as something occurred to him.
The assistant nodded slightly and was about to continue when suddenly the phone rang. She
answered it. "Hello, this is the CEO's office of the Shen Group. What can I do for you?"
"Hello, there is a problem..." The man paused nervously, and then continued, "A lady called Charlotte
wants to file a complaint against Mr. Shen."
The assistant's hand trembled and she couldn't breathe. She glanced at Oliver cautiously as his
piercing eyes bored into her.
"What's the matter?" Oliver asked shortly.
The assistant lowered her head and relayed the message.
"Charlotte." Oliver allowed the name to wash over him. His eyes lit up and he smiled playfully. "Go get
the car. I need to go out."
"Yes, sir!"
About thirty minutes later, a posh Rolls-Royce stopped in front of the police station.
Oliver stepped out of the car with the grace of a panther. His well-tailored suit accentuated his Greek-
God body. He looked noble and powerful at the same time. His eyes and movements oozed contempt
for all living beings.
Oliver strolled into the police station with a large group of people following him. Charlotte looked at
them in confusion and surprise. She was a little intimidated to see so many people with him. She stared
at Oliver, and guessed his plan, but didn't dare to voice it.
He walked in, and, as he passed Charlotte, he lowered his head and whispered in her ear, "You did a
good job yesterday. Why don't we do it again sometime soon?"
His deep and sensuous voice penetrated Charlotte's soul, and immediately last night's events replayed
in her mind.
She was so ashamed and angry that her face turned red. Now she was sure of his identity, and she
glared at him fiercely.
Oliver smiled coolly. He didn't even look at her, pretending as if he didn't say anything and it was all in
her mind.
"Mr. Shen, let's talk about this case. Here is the thing: this lady came to the police station to report a
crime, and she alleged..."
"What?" he demanded.
"She said you molested her..."
"Ha-ha!" There was a dangerous undertone in Oliver's calm voice. He raised his eyebrows and looked
at Charlotte, and it was a very different look from the evil expression he had on when he entered the
room. "Do you have any evidence?"
Charlotte was so outraged that she clenched her fists and her nails dug into her flesh. "The evidence is
written all over my body—the marks that you left on me yesterday! How dare you deny it?" She clearly
remembered everything he had done. If she got a DNA test, he would certainly be thrown into jail.
There would be no escape for him.
"What kind of marks did I leave on you? Why don't you take off your clothes and let me see?" He was
unfazed by her. Perhaps he had already thought of an excuse, or maybe he was not afraid of her at all.
Hearing his obscene comment, almost everyone in the police station turned to look at her at the same
time.
At this moment, Charlotte finally understood what it was like to be bullied by a powerful man.
Thanks to his astonishing wealth, Oliver knew that he could get out of any situation. He feared nothing.
She couldn't help trembling, not knowing whether it was because of fear or anger. But the next
moment, the desperation in her eyes suddenly vanished. She stared at Oliver defiantly. She reached
out to pick up the fruit knife on the table. There was a crazed look in her eyes. She was like a trapped
beast left with no choice but to attempt one last strike.
"Then let's die together, you bastard!"
Charlotte hurled herself at Oliver with all her strength, aiming the knife at his neck.
"Watch out!"
No one could react in time. They were in a state of shock.
The knife stopped only an inch away from his neck.
Oliver had caught Charlotte's wrist. He felt the cold steel of the blade on his neck and his eyes
darkened as he twisted her hand and held her tightly in his arms.
