Sarah couldn’t believe her ears at all. To think that Gwen would talk to her in such a bold tone!
She pointed a ring–clad finger at Gwen indignantly, inadvertently showing off the huge sapphire on top of the ring.
“What the hell is with that attitude of yours? Say that again, I dare you!”
Gwen just looked at Sarah fearlessly. “Since Sienna is about to move into Hall Manor, you should have her do these chores in the future. I will never do anything for you from now on.”
Every word was enunciated loudly and clearly. Once Gwen was done speaking, she felt extremely relieved, as though a burden had been lifted off her shoulders.
However, her response succeeded in angering Sarah even more. “You!”
“Mom!” Caitlin grasped Sarah’s arm at that moment, her tone lowered in a conspiratory fashion. “Gwen must be mad right now. I heard that Jake…”
Caitlin recounted the exaggerated version of the incident which had happened last night. Based on the way her lips moved and the smug expression on her face, Gwen could tell that Caitlin was definitely talking smack about her.
Realization dawned on Sarah instantly. She exclaimed haughtily, “Hah! It seems that you’re just venting your anger on me because you failed to retain your own husband!”
Gwen sauntered out of the manor with her luggage. She stopped in her tracks when she heard Sarah’s words from her spot outside the manor. Anger began to build up from within.
She suppressed her urge to turn around and lash out at Sarah. Instead, she tilted her head slightly before saying in a frosty tone, “Haven’t you been doubting my fertility over the past three years? Why don’t you tell Jake to get his reproductive health checked out? He can’t even get it up, you know? Let’s see who’s to be blamed for not being able to pop out a baby!”
“You. You little…” Both Sarah and Caitlin were stunned.
Once Sarah regained her senses, white–hot rage flooded her senses. “Gwen Lawson, I’ll tell Jake to divorce you right away!”
In the past, Gwen avoided getting into conflicts with the other Halls out of respect for Agnes. That was why she did everything she could to appease Sarah and Caitlin.
She might have been afraid of them in the past, but now, she no longer cared about what they thought of her.
Gwen merely replied, “Do whatever you want.”
With that, she left Hall Manor right away while ignoring Sarah’s temper tantrums
Once Gwen was gone, Sarah felt that something was definitely wrong. She instructed Caitlin, “Head upstairs and check
if we’re missing any valuables. Gwen’s suitcase looks so heavy. Who knows what she might have stolen from us!”
A while later, Caitlin bound down the stairs with a document in hand.
“Mom, all of our valuables are still here, but I found this document on the nightstand.”
Sarah retrieved the document from Caitlin. Her eyes went as wide as dinner plates when she saw the contents. Two words were printed in large font on the cover page-“Divorce Agreement“.
Sarah called Jake immediately and began complaining about the things Gwen had done and said to her.
The moment Jake heard the words “divorce agreement” and “sexually impotent“, he gestured for the meeting to be adjourned. Then, he grabbed his jacket, which was draped on his chair, and left the meeting room.
“Mom, calm down,” he said to Sarah coolly.
“I’m calm! It’s just that I’m mad at her as well! I’m more than happy to watch her leave! Sienna will be able to replace

her, after all! What I’m mad about is the fact that she has the gall to demand a divorce!”
Sarah was still rambling on and on on the other end of the line when Jake ended the call. His expression slowly darkened. At the same time, a chilly air began to flare from his visage.
He still found it hard to believe that such a demure and obedient woman like Gwen would do such rebellious things. But Jake soon recalled Gwen’s weird behavior from the night before. He quickly located her phone number in his contact list. This was his first time in three years taking the initiative to call her.
“Mr. Hall!”
Before the call went through, Jake saw Cedar Jett, his assistant, rushing toward him as soon as the latter got out of the elevator on the top floor.
“I just received an email in my inbox! It comes with Ms. Lawson’s resignation letter!”
Cedar was still trying to catch his breath from all the running. “She’s in charge of multiple projects! The most important project is the medical expo that’s going to be held in Dornwick! We haven’t gone through the handover process yet! What… What should we do?”
Jake’s expression darkened even more, especially when he heard an automated voice coming from his phone.
“The number you have dialed is currently occupied. Please try again later.”
Great. Gwen had hung up on him straight away.
