Chapter 563 The Next Step

Victor started crying when he saw Clarissa’s picture. This was his first time seeing her after twenty long

years.

By now, George could already guess what Connie, the sudden distant relative, was here for.

It was then when he came to a decision: he had to bring Clarissa here and clarify everything.

Previously, George visited Victor once every two months. For the past few weeks, however, he had

been dropping by very frequently.

As he had expected, Victor passed him a note when Iris went out. Victor wanted George to find

Clarissa, the real daughter.

George left without hesitation.

“Clarissa, your grandfather wants to see you.” George then passed her the note from Victor. “I also met

a girl in Victor’s house the other day. I think she was pretending to be you so she and Iris can get the

money off him.”

Clarissa gritted her teeth.

She had been having the same nightmare over and over again, where her mother was mentally

tortured and forcefully locked in an attic.

But for some reason, Damien didn’t allow her to go.

His fierce objection raised doubts in Clarissa. She wondered if he was doing it on purpose.

“Clarissa, you just need to be there and stop Victor from getting manipulated. He didn't want Iris to take

all the money,” George begged as he sensed Clarissa’s hesitance. “Please!”

“Okay! I’ll get my visa in the afternoon.”

“Alright, thanks. I should take my leave now before Iris suspects anything,” George said.

“Right.”

After George left, Clarissa went into silence.

She had no idea how to spill the beans to Damien. Despite her doubts, she still did so and told him

everything.

“George came to me and said another girl was pretending to be me so they could get my grandfather’s

money. I have to go and stop it from happening!” Clarissa said.

“No!” Damien objected firmly.

“Why not? That’s my family!”

“I’ve already made myself clear. No means no.”

Clarissa couldn’t understand why he wasn’t agreeing.

Yet, she wanted to go so badly.

“I’ll be away for just a few days!”

“No. Look, let’s not talk about this anymore. Anyway, I have the money now. Have you thought about

the next step?”
