Chapter 528 Be With Me

Chapter 528 Be With Me

When Clarissa woke up the next morning, the first thing she noticed was Damien’s warm chest.

He had always woken up early, so she didn’t know why he was still in bed.

“Why aren’t you up yet?” she asked.

At the same time, she checked the time. It was already past ten in the morning.

“I don’t need to go to the office while I’m in Florin. There’s no hurry to get out of bed.” After a pause, he

said, “Clarissa.”

“Yeah.”

“Be with me.” Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

Clarissa opened her eyes at his words. “Didn’t I get with you a long time ago?”

She was starting to accept her fate. No matter how much she studied, she would never be able to

surpass Damien, so she was better off just staying by his side. Everything that had happened recently

made it clear to her.

“I’m not talking about a contractual marriage. I mean that we should be together like an actual couple.

From now on, you can tell me everything and discuss whatever problems you’re facing with me.”

Clarissa thought about their past. She made her fair share of mistakes, and she was still worried about

Iris.

But now that they were like this, she was going to throw caution to the wind.

She nodded instantly.

Damien didn’t seem to believe her.

“Really?” he asked.

“Of course. I’ve already thought it over. I’m safest by your side, since you’re so smart. You have a good

eye, so you’ll definitely be able to think of the best solution.”

He sneered. “That’s not necessarily true. I’ve been wrong in the past.”

“Really? When?” She turned to him, the quilt slipping down and revealing her fair shoulders.

“I’ve been wrong about you!”

Clarissa couldn’t help feeling down, and her tone showed it.

“Since you were wrong about me, why do you still want me to be with you? Aren’t you just contradicting

yourself?”

“I might as well see this mistake through to the end.” He sounded rather helpless.

She closed her eyes, not wanting to speak to him anymore.

“Mrs. Faber’s upset with me. Can you help me talk to her?”

“It’s not a huge problem.”

After that, he pinned her to the bed and gave her a searing kiss. He was very gentle, though.

She kept her eyes closed.

Over the years, no other man had managed to step into her heart. Though they hadn’t gotten off on the

right foot, it didn’t mean that they hadn’t learned to love each other after getting married.

“Why won’t you lend me any money, then?” Clarissa asked, sounding displeased.

“I already have four or five properties in Florin. Why do you still need to buy a place of your own?”

She fell silent.

Then, she told Damien about Iris’s threat.

To her surprise, he didn’t take it to heart at all.

“Is that all?” He looked at her.

“Of course not! I hate you for what you did to my mother, but it doesn’t mean that I’d cut off all contact

with you.”

His expression became steely. “Let’s go downstairs for breakfast.”

When they got to the dining room, however, they saw Neil playing on his own.

“Where’s Mrs. Faber?” Damien asked.

“She said she was heading back to Genovia.” Neil looked at Damien, then at Clarissa.

Clarissa looked upset. “She does resent me.”

“Time heals all wounds.” Damien wasn’t bothered by this. The three of them had breakfast together.

“Mommy, what are you doing after breakfast?” Neil asked.

“Well, there’s a friend I have to spend some time with. You and I will have plenty of time to be together.

Are you okay with that?” Clarissa pinched his nose.

“Mommy, don’t pinch my nose. It’ll grow long,” he said.

“Why, you must’ve learned that from your dad.”

“You still remember?” Damien asked.

She lowered her head. “Of course. I remember everything.”

This seemed to remind him of something. He didn’t say anything else.
