Love beyond the mask (Whitney)

Chapter 490

Ten minutes later, the assistant brought comprehensive news, "Sir, Hank has been hanging out a lot with Blake from the Emperor City Blue Gang recently. They even hit the casinos in Macau together not too long ago. I just found out that Hank has arranged to meet Blake tonight."

The Blue Gang was nothing more than a ragtag bunch.

And that Blake was notorious for trouble.

Hank... was Holly's younger brother...

Hudson's forehead creased with tension, "Hire some bodyguards and come with me to find Hank."

"Sir, you're getting on in years, and you haven't been well lately. How about I reach out to Miss Whitney to discuss how to handle this?"

"I'll handle this personally! By tailing Hank, we'll uncover the truth!"

Seeing no point in arguing, the assistant hurriedly prepared the car.

In the Sheldon family's backyard.

Danny, unsupervised and free as a bird, clutched a smartphone. On it was a photo his dad had taken of a piece of evidence left behind by Sammy. The embroidery on the fabric was unique; the color and pattern were distinctive.

He immediately snuck off to the suspicious-looking cottage.

The cottage was sealed tight, its walls overrun with ivy, standing ominously near the Sheldon family's back door.

The main gate was locked with a heavy padlock, and the windows were all shuttered. Danny couldn't peek inside. Relying on his memory, he found a corner inside the fence and spotted the same flowers from the embroidery!

In the height of summer, these flowers were in full bloom.

They had tiger-striped colors, with plump and petite blossoms.

Danny wasn't sure if they were poisonous, so he didn't dare touch them.

But he quickly took clear photos with his phone!

He and his mom were working as a team; she was researching the origin of these flowers.

Danny was sure they were unusual, even rare.

Yet, the fabric torn off by Sammy had them, and the Sheldon family had these flowers in just this one cottage. Focusing on the cottage, Danny recalled feeling a strong sensation near here the last time he came.

Now, that anxious feeling was gone.

He had a bold hypothesis.

What if the piece of fabric was from someone in the Sheldon family?

Or, was Sammy being held in this cottage?

A chill ran down his spine.

Danny bowed his head, zooming in on the photo of the fabric...

He realized the fabric might not have been torn from clothing.

It was light and sheer, like gossamer, very similar to...

Suddenly, something clicked in his mind.

Danny dashed to the front yard!

Returning to the Sheldon family's main villa, he cautiously surveyed the scene. Luckily, the living room was devoid of servants.

He remembered clearly which room was Florence's bedroom on the second floor.

Danny tiptoed up the stairs, stealthily opened Florence's bedroom door, and found himself inside.

He looked around the room and eventually made his way to Florence's lavish dressing room.

From a transparent display case, he found Florence's collection of handkerchiefs, all thin as gossamer.

He and his mom had overlooked something.

Florence liked to use a variety of handkerchiefs!

For someone who coughed frequently, having handkerchiefs was common, and since they were so small, they were easily overlooked!

Danny searched through every pattern on Florence's handkerchiefs, but none matched the one on his phone exactly.

He frowned in frustration.

But he didn't give up. Tonight, he decided to stay over!

Late at night, at the hospital.

Whitney received a call from Tiana.

Tiana: "Whitney, over at Skyfaith Hospital, the ward where Natalie's staying has been locked down. No one can get in.

As for her condition, Dr. Ford's guarding it like a vault. I can't get any information.

I didn't give up and waited outside the hospital. I saw Ludwik show up in the evening!

He came with Florence into the hospital. About three hours later, they left Natalie's ward building. Florence was carried out, but she was conscious." “Carried out?" Whitney frowned in suspicion.

"You said she was frail, so that sounds normal."

"No, something's off." Because Parker had been suggesting that Florence and Natalie's conditions were connected.

"Can you find out Natalie's current condition right now?"

"I really can't get in," Tiana sounded troubled.

Holding her phone and pacing around the hospital, she continued, "But I just saw Dr. Ford. He and some colleagues are heading out for dinner, looking much more relaxed than before..."

Could that mean Natalie had woken from her coma?

Did Natalie's condition improve after Florence's visit?

There were only a few possibilities...

Could Florence heal? Did Florence have something that made Natalie better?

Whitney dared not speculate further...

Tiana complained, "But what's with

vel

Ludwik? His chest was covered in blood, and he looked so weak in a wheelchair. I saw him heading straight to the emergency department. He must've been seriously injured!" Content belongs

Whitney gripped her phone, suddenly at a loss for words.

His visit to Florence wasn't just about concern; he risked his life not just for Florence.

Perhaps Parker was right; he was also worried about his mother...

Natalie's condition wasn't just organ failure. What mystery was Ludwik hiding from her?

Whitney's thoughts were in turmoil

Tiana, seeing her not engaging,

switched topics, "Oh, abou, i

me, I did some digging.

That flower is called 'Tiger Striped Anemone,' a toxic plant used in slow-acting nerve medications.

It's rare in the south, grows in the north, and is expensive. Not many people can afford it, and even if they can, it's hard to find.

Why are you suddenly interested in this flower?"

"Rare, is it?" Whitney activated her phone's recording feature.

"Exactly. And few people recognize this flower because it's poisonous. The person who nurtures it must have a purpose for it.

It's quite beautiful, whether embroidered on clothing or a handkerchief, it adds a touch of noble uniqueness."

"A handkerchief..." Whitney muttered, frowning slightly.

The next morning, under the care of the household staff, Danny got out of bed, washed up, and descended the stairs with his little legs.

He carried a small backpack, hiding the 'trophy' he had taken from Florence's bedroom.

He was heading back to the hospital to tell Mommy everything...

"Danny, I heard from the staff that you're visiting Whitney at the hospital. Grandma is also on her way there; why don't you ride with me?"novelbin

Holly approached him and said.

Hank hadn't sent her any updates last night, probably out enjoying himself again.

Holly was anxious and wanted to check on Whitney at the hospital.

Besides, with Whitney's incident, she had to put on an act of concern to avoid raising Hudson's suspicions.

Sitting in the car, Danny looked coldly at Holly, "You know Whitney and I are mother and son, so why pretend otherwise?"

"..." Holly glanced at this brash child.

Not a hint of manners!

A chill flashed through her eyes as she forced a smile, "But your daddy will eventually marry my daughter. They are the perfect match, socially and

legally."

Danny could easily catch the insinuation that his Mommy was an illegitimate child, not fit for the public eye.

He thought of something and scoffed coldly, "If you fall from grace, I'd like to see how well your foxy daughter matches with my daddy then.

Who has the last laugh remains to be seen!

With me and Sammy here, nobody's going to marry my daddy and become the First Lady of Harmonia Country!"

Holly turned to stare at his cold little face, feeling a shiver down her spine. Was he deliberately bringing up Sammy?

She always felt this kid was doing it on purpose...

Distractedly arriving at the hospital, just as Holly was about to put on a stellar performance to probe Whitney,

Hudson stormed in, furious. Seeing Holly, his eyes turned icy, "You dare to show up here!

You, witch, I never would have guessed.

What more do you want to do to Whitney?!"
