Love At The Wrong Table

Love at the 1952

Jake spoke with fiery determination. “That’s right. I have full faith in Mr. Lowe

and Ms. Quillen. Their achievements speak for themselves, and I’m certain

they can help us turn things around. This is our final chance to get the

Fletcher family back on top!”

His announcement sparked a flurry of intense debate among the assembled

family members. Meanwhile, Emmanuel’s gaze drifted to the corner where

the masked woman stood, her eyes fixed on the commotion unfolding

around her.

It was apparent that Jake was making a desperate, all–or–nothing bet to

bring the family together and cut off any chance of backing out. The risk was

evident–one wrong move could spell disaster.

Are you out of your mind?” Damien took a step back. “This is just your own

opinion, and you can’t make decisions for all of us!”

Damien was clearly trying to stay on the good side of the Tanner family. The

last thing he wanted was for Xylle to see him as an enemy.

“Dames, why are you so scared?” Jake fired back with frustration. “Why should

we keep quiet while the Quill family takes over our docks and billion–dollar

contracts? Are we just going to let them do whatever they want?”

His passionate outburst ignited a storm of mixed reactions in the room. While

many voiced their agreement or outrage, others remained doubtful or sided

with Damien, wondering if Emmanuel and Mackenzie could truly make a

difference.

“Jake, that’s enough!” Damien snapped, directing his anger at Emmanuel.

“This guy here couldn’t even save the Quillen family from falling apart, and

now he’s talking about taking down the chairman of the Chamber of

Commerce? What a joke. You might as well start begging Ms. Tanner for

mercy before-”

Before he could get another word out, Emmanuel’s expression turned icy.

With a nearly imperceptible flick of his wrist, he struck Damien with an

invisible force, sending him crashing to the ground. Damien’s face turned a

“What… What just happened?” The room erupted with gasps and whispers of

shock. Those who had been leaning toward an alliance with the Tanner family now drew back in fear, their faces pale and eyes wide with terror.

Even the masked woman lurking at the edge of the hall seemed visibly

shaken.

Is he capable of such power? Just how strong is Emmanuel? Can Mr. Gwain

actually stand a chance against him?

Emmanuel’s face remained expressionless as he coldly stated, “How dare ȧ

mere nobody like you speak to me in such a way? Ridiculous!”

The room fell into a frigid silence, the air thick with the weight of his unspoken

threat.

Just then, a commotion erupted outside the hall. Moments later, a frantic

butler rushed in, his face pale with urgency. “Old Mr. Fletcher! Mr. Fletcher!

Another force from the war realm has shown up. They’re threatening us to

remove our forces from Starcrest Port immediately, or they’ll take action!”

The Fletcher family’s faces grew dark with fury. Jake slammed his teacup

onto the table, his frustration boiling over as he pointed at his fallen brother.

“Take a good look! The Quill family won’t stop until we’re wiped out. Do you

really think they’ll spare us if we give in? By then, we won’t even get a chance

to fight back!”

Old Mr. Fletcher, with his teeth clenched in anger, commanded the butler,

“Bring in all the bodyguards right away and get them out to deal with this!”

“Right away, Sir!” The butler hurried off to execute the orders.

Old Mr. Fletcher and the rest of the family left the hall, their faces etched with

grim determination. Sage, now ready with his preparations, slipped back into

the reception hall, where the Fletcher family was too absorbed in their own

crisis to notice him.

He leaned in and asked quietly, “What’s our next move?”

Emmanuel responded with a composed tone, “Keep the Wolf Warrior Elite

Battalion deployed around Eldoria’s perimeter and get ready for battle. Be

ready for my orders.”

Whether or not he came to an agreement with the Fletcher family, he knew

he had to face the Quill family, who served as Teddy’s enforcers in Eldoria. With just over two months until the new election for the chairman of the

Chamber of Commerce, it was crucial to strike a decisive blow to his forces

to ensure his downfall.

Sage acknowledged the plan with a quick nod.

“Got it!” he said, then went off to set things in motion.

Outside the Fletcher’s place, the villa was surrounded by more than a

thousand heavily armed soldiers. Emmanuel and Sage stepped out into the

front yard to get a closer look, only to be surprised by the sight of a familiar

face among the crowd.
