Chapter 21
The water was filled with different species of sea creatures. It had different colorful plants growing on the rocks.
I looked behind me and everything was black, dead as I knew it, and then I looked forward to the blue water.
I was in the middle of the two opposite sides, and I was tempted to go to the clear blue water. I thought Lovette would love it here. I threw my hand to my hair and started pulling at it when a piercing sound passed through my ear.
It was like that of a woman screaming-crying.
A blurry face of a woman with red hair popped up in my head.
None of the females in the sea here have red hair, so it must be from my lost memory.
Was she a lover of me? a mother? A daughter? Why can’t I see her face? I felt like she was very important to me and a part of me that I never knew existed wanted to find her.
I placed my hand forward to pass through it, but I couldn’t. It was a wall made out of water. I tried pushing harder to get through it, but it was impenetrable.
Frustrated, I banged my hands on it and it made a loud noise, scaring the fish that were on the opposite side of the black water.
“What was that?” I heard a muffled unknown voice say something, and I stood still. “It’s nothing, probably a fish from the other side,” said a voice I recognized.
Arista.
There was a small cave at the side of the rock, and I moved closer to it. I stood behind a large stone to hide myself from them.
Arista was speaking to another female who wasn’t part of her pack. I couldn’t see the unknown female because Arista was right in front of her, but when she moved to the side, I finally got to see her.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
She had no tail.
She was just like us with two legs, so she must be from the land. The female had a red snake around her neck and was putting on a red long gown that floated around her.
I was about to make myself known until the woman said my name. “Micah,” she said, and I stiffened.
Had they found me? Did they know I was spying on them?
I released a silent sigh of relief when I saw that nobody was looking at where I was hiding.
“Have you killed him?” She asked Arista, and my body went rigid. “No”,
Arista told her, and the woman glared at her and swam closer to Arista.
“We had a deal with Arista. I give you a portion to trap the King in your water. He gets you and your pack pregnant and after that, you kill him.” She hissed, grabbed Arista’s fin and pulled it so they would be closer to each other.
The woman’s words were like a stab to my chest. Everything Arista told me was a lie. She never found me at the bottom of the sea. No, she spelled me to stay with her and her packs and get them pregnant.
I felt disgusted with myself and closed my eyes in anger.
“I changed my mind, Danna,” Arista told the woman, Danna, and I opened my eyes to see the red snake wrapping itself around Arista.
It was like I was compelled to save Arista from the snake that was choking her. Even with my clouded mind and uncontrollably unbalanced body, I knew that what I was doing was the work of the portion still working in my body.
I jumped out of my hiding spot and ran to the woman. I pushed Danna away from Arista and grabbed the snake and threw it on the wall.
With clenched jaws, I grabbed Arista’s hand and started swimming away. We weren’t even out of the cave when a rope was wrapped around my legs and pulled me back.
I let go of Aristas’ hand as my back hit the wall of the cave. I groaned out in pain and tried getting up, but the rope pulled me again to the other side of the cave, and this time, I cried out in pain.
I looked at my foot and saw that it was the rest of the snake that was wrapped around it. I was too weak to even fight it, so I just let it be.
“Look at you,” Danna said, clicking her tongue as she bent down to my height. “The once powerful king is now weaker than a human.” She laughed and clapped her hands like she was rejoicing over my downfall.
I scoffed and turned my head to the side before turning it back to look at her again. “Who are you?” I inquired, curious as to why she despises me so much.
“Oh, would you like to know?” She mocked and stretched her hand toward the red snake, and it climbed up her arm and wrapped itself around her neck.
Her face became hard as she glared at me. I frowned. “I am Danna Hart, High Priestess to the Witches and your downfall.” She said, and I frowned.
“What did I ever do to you?” I asked her, curious to know what happened between us.
“It’s not you, Micah.” “It is what your father did to me and my mother, “she whispered, cupping my cheek.
Arista screamed as she came swimming ready to hit Danna with a stone, but before she could even get close to Danna, A green light shot out of her hand and pushed Arista to the wall.
My eyes widened when I saw how her tail was twisted at an unnatural angle and she wasn’t moving.
Arista is dead.
Danna scoffed and turned her head toward me. “Now, to get rid of you,” she muttered, and got up.
Before she could do anything, the cave began to shake and the stones began to fall. A stone landed on Danna’s shoulder, and she moved out of the way with a hiss.
She turned to glare at me and, with a huff, she said, “Next time Micah, I promise that your death will be so miserable and painful, you will wish you were never born.” And with that said, she vanished into thin air.
I crept up to Arista’s body and flipped her on her back. I placed my hand on her stomach. Even though I resented Arista for what she had done to me, she was still carrying my child.
She slowly opened her eyes and I cupped her cheek in my palm. Go Micah, Go, you are free. I’m so-so, so-rry. ”
After she said those words, her body went stiff.
A stone landed on my back, and I clenched my jaw and closed my eyes. I noticed Arista’s right palm was closed around something, and when I opened it, there was a glowing blue pendent necklace in it.
I took it and quickly ran out of the cave before it could collapse completely on me.
I looked down at the necklace in my hand and released a sigh. The whole water was shaking like there was an earthquake, and when I looked up, the water was diving, and I released a chuckle.
My people had come for me, and with that, I wore the blue necklace around my neck.
