Chapter 924 Leaving The JC Group (Part Two)
Chapter 924 Leaving The JC Group (Part Two)
She took several steps backwards and stopped. She stood there motionlessly as she stared at the
back of his head. For a moment, she didn't know what to say.
After hesitating for a long time, she finally mustered some courage. She sprinted back to Lawrence and
stood in front of him. She held his arm and said, "Mr. Lawrence, you know that I have been admiring
you and I really want to stay by your side. From the time that you hired me, I have already fallen in love
with you. That's why I worked hard to improve myself. I want to be an excellent woman so I will deserve
you."
This time, Lawrence met Ivy's eyes then he slowly asked, "Do you know why I hired you to be my
assistant?"
"W... Why?" Ivy stammered. She already looked very nervous. She believed that Lawrence offered her
a job to be his assistant because he had a crush on her. She was just so naive at first that she didn't
see through his purpose. She even didn't know about love then. Only later that she figured it out. That
was why she did everything she could to get closer to him and win his trust.
"Because of your friend, Rebecca Lin," Lawrence replied with gritted teeth. He stared at Ivy with his
sharp eyes. He didn't intend to mention that name again for the rest of his life but Ivy provoked him.
Since she misunderstood that he had a thing for her, he must tell her now the real reason why he hired
her.
"Rebecca?" Ivy mumbled. Her eyes bulged in bewilderment. It occurred to her once that Rebecca
might have something to do with her employment in the JC Group but she later on ruled out this
possibility with some other reasons. Now, she heard it directly from her boss. She was really
thunderstruck. She knew Lawrence wouldn't lie to her.
"Yeah, it's her," Lawrence confirmed. "I know that you take care of her mother every day now. And you
still go to the sanatorium to visit her monthly, right?" Lawrence added. Lawrence was actually surprised
that Ivy didn't know anything about his relationship with Rebecca. 'Didn't Rebecca tell her?' he
wondered
Ivy immediately broke down. What Lawrence told her was really mind blowing. She loosened her grip
on his arm and shook her head in disbelief. She was still confounded so she asked, "Did you have
something to do with Rebecca's accident?"
"You know her better than me, don't you?" Lawrence asked back. Ivy turned her gaze away. She was
lost in her thoughts. She tried to recall what happened a year ago and something came to her mind.
She looked back at Lawrence and asked, "You did that to her because of Aria, right?" Although
Lawrence didn't answer her question directly, she still strongly believed that Lawrence had something
to do with it.
"I don't have to answer your question. She made a lot of misdeeds so she only deserved what she got,"
Lawrence said grimly.
Lawrence had already expected that Ivy would blame him for what happened to Rebecca. After all,
they were good friends. However, what Ivy would say next really surprised him.
Ivy grabbed his arm again and stared at him resolutely. Then she said pleadingly, "I don't mind what
you did to Rebecca. I know what kind of person she is so you're right. She only deserves it. But me, all
I want is to be with you and to be your woman. If you agree to date with me, I promise that I will never
visit Rebecca again and I will stop looking after her mother. Just give me a chance to serve you, okay?"
Lawrence couldn't hide the astonishment on his face. He suddenly felt that Ivy was not the same
person that he knew. He felt like she turned into someone else.
"You know very well that I am serious about Aria," he said as an answer to Ivy.
"But you and Aria will never work. Your parents will definitely oppose your relationship," Ivy responded.
"Aria is a country girl. She is just a saleswoman in a small company. What do you expect from her? No
one will even appreciate her capability. Do you think your parents will agree on your marriage?" she
added.
"Who do you think you are?" Lawrence asked as he glowered at Ivy. A gust of fury rose in his heart.
"Do you think you are better than her?"
"At least I work in the JC Group. Incompetent people can never have access in big companies like this.
Isn't it a proof that I am better than her?" Ivy retorted. She purposely ignored Lawrence's anger
because she was more afraid of losing this good chance to try her luck.
"I am giving you twenty-four hours to prepare your resignation," Lawrence fumed as he rose form his
seat. All he wanted right now was to stay away from this woman. He thought that she might already be
out of her mind.
Ivy trembled upon hearing Lawrence's words. There was a finality in his voice when he said it and she
couldn't just accept it. With a rattled expression, she collapsed to the floor and muttered, "No, it will not
happen. I will never leave this company." Once she left the JC Group, all of her efforts would be in vain.
She was scared at the thought of it.
Meanwhile, someone knocked on the door.
"Come in!" Lawrence shouted.
As soon as the door opened, the HR Department director and the finance director froze. They only
came to give their report to Lawrence but they did not expect to see such a scene. Lawrence was
standing by the French window while Ivy collapsed on the floor. Their mouth agape in incredulity.
They exchanged bewildered glances and they looked hesitant. Although they had prepared their
reports in advance, the embarrassing and odd atmosphere in the room gave them a mental block. So,
what they did was only stood still silently.
"What's up?" Lawrence asked with a livid face. "Oh, yeah..." the finance director responded. He was
the first one to somehow recover from shock.

added.
However, Lawrence didn't pay heed to the finance director's words. Instead, he looked at the HR
Department director and said, "Come in. I want to have a meeting with you. After that, you must deal
with Ivy's resignation procedures."
