Chapter 27 Could It Be Her
Chapter 27 Could It Be Her
Cherry got up early in the morning. After she had watered the flowers and plants on the balcony, she
breathed in the fresh air and suddenly felt an urge to go out for a walk. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
On this beautiful morning, Cherry walked on the road, alone. She looked at people passing by and
thought they were all kind souls. Gazing at the cars come and zip by beside her, mixed feelings surged
in Cherry's heart.
She felt she had sleepwalked through the past a few days. During this period, she had calmed down
and understood a lot of things. At the very beginning, she had no feelings for Jackson, but now she
longed for his love. She had already gotten used to being with Jackson, so when he was not with her,
she suffered a lot.
Cherry shrugged her shoulders and took a deep breath. She thought to herself, 'Why should I think so
much of it? After all, my life had been perfect before I met Jackson. So I can go back to living my life
just as before. Life is always bitter, so what more can I ask for?'
Cherry walked a few steps and suddenly found that a car stopped next to her.
Cherry stopped and saw John get out of the car.
John had been elected as the governor a few days ago. He looked even more handsome than before.
Dressed in a smart suit and with his charming face, he looked much more attractive.
Seeing Cherry, John was very confused and so he asked,"Cherr, why are you here?" At such an early
hour, Cherry should have been sleeping at home. Why was she walking alone on the road?
Cherry dared not look at John. She lowered her head and answered,"Oh, I'm taking a walk."
John asked again,"Where is my uncle? Why didn't he accompany you?" Seeing Cherry walking alone,
he had a lot of questions to ask.
Cherry said,"He...He has returned to the barracks."
John found it odd and wondered why Cherry seemed to be hiding something.
John suddenly grabbed Cherry's arms. Cherry instinctively raised her head. When John saw her red,
swollen eyes, his heart ached. He thought to himself, 'What's wrong? Did she cry just now? Why is her
face so thin?'
"Oh! Cherr? What happened to you?" John asked, anxiously. He thought to himself, 'I haven't seen her
for just several days. How did she end up in this state? What happened?'
"No, everything is fine." Cherry held her tears back, turned to one side and dared not look at John.
John was too angry to say anything. It was obvious that Cherry wanted to hide something from him.
They were on a street, so if he forced her to tell him what had happened, they would definitely attract
attention. He was the Governor now, so he needed to pay attention to his image.
John said,"Come on, get in the car with me."
Then John pulled Cherry by her arm to his car.
Cherry followed him. She had had rough couple of days. She was too weak to resist him. When he
pulled her hard, the only thing she could do was to follow him.
However, Cherry and John hadn't noticed that not far away from them, a man in black clothes and
black hat was taking their photos. He had recorded how John had pulled Cherry to the car.
John and Cherry drove to an exclusive leisure club. After they entered a private room, Cherry sat
quietly opposite John, without saying anything.
"Cherr! Tell me. What on earth happened to you? Did my uncle bully you?" John was extremely worried
about her, but Cherry still did not utter a word.
...
After a while, Cherry said,"John, thank you for your concern. I'm fine. I'm okay."
"Really? Look at you now! Do you think you are okay?" John felt that his tone was a bit harsh. So he
softened it and said,"Cherr! I know you hate me and you don't want to see me. But I'm really worried
about you. Do you know how sad I am when I look at you now?"
"John, thank you for caring about your aunt. But you don't need to worry about me. If you have time,
you should take care of my sister." Cherry tried to change the subject, because she really did not know
how to explain her recent situation.
"Cherr! Don't act brave in front of me, okay? If you have a problem, tell me and I'll help you." John was
frustrated. He had been asking Cherry since they got in the car, but Cherry still did not tell him what
had happened.
Cherry looked into John's eyes. At this moment, her tears ran down her cheeks. She couldn't bear it
anymore. Even though she was in front of her ex-boyfriend, who had betrayed her, she still couldn't
hold it back anymore. When he kept asking her what had happened, she recalled the past when they
had been in love. Back then, he had been really nice to her. So Cherry wanted to be loved and cared
for by him again.
Seeing Cherry's tears, John was overwhelmed and said,"Cherr! Cherr! Cherr!"
"John, is your marriage happy now?" Cherry abruptly asked him.
John shook his head without thinking and said,"Of course not, Cherr! You know I love you and I'll
always love you."
"I'm not happy, either. It is really hard to live with a man you don't love." Cherry said, and then she sank
into agony again.
John held Cherry's hands and said,"Cherr! Can you forgive me? I'll take care of you from now on!"
"John, it is impossible for us to be together again. I'm now your uncle's wife!" Cherry seriously did not
think they could be together again. Ever since she had seen John sleeping with her sister, he had been
the last man she wanted to marry.
"But you're not happy at all," said John.
"It's none of your business!" Cherry looked away, as if she was avoiding something.
Seeing her behavior, John knew that Cherry was definitely hiding something from him. Her behavior,
facial expression and looks were very strange.
"Cherr, is there anything wrong between you and my uncle?" John guessed. And he continued,"Is my
uncle having an affair?"
Though John had asked this question, he actually did not believe it would be the case. He knew very
clearly what kind of a person Jackson was. Jackson wasn't interested in women at all, so how could he
possibly have an affair?
"John, don't interfere in my family affairs," said Cherry.
"What if I must interfere?" John thought to himself, 'I will certainly get to the bottom of this issue!'
"Okay! Do whatever you want." Cherry did not want to argue with John anymore. She noticed that John
was still holding her hand, so she said,"John, could you let go of me!"
Before Cherry could pull her hands back, the door opened.
Cherry and John glanced at the door, and they saw Jackson's angry face.
"Uncle Jackson," John greeted him indifferently.
Cherry looked at Jackson's face. She had missed this face day and night. She finally saw it, but his
murderous and angry expression terrified her very much.
Jackson looked into Cherry's eyes. Seeing her thin face and red, swollen eyes, he felt so sorry for her.
He hadn't seen her for several days. Why did she look so sick?
Jackson did not want to be angry with Cherry. So he turned to John, walked up to him and forcibly
detached his hand from Cherry's. Then Jackson seized John's collar, glared at him dangerously and
said,"Cherry is my wife! You shall always bear this in mind!"
John looked at Jackson's murderous face. He would have been scared if Jackson was talking about
other things. But he was afraid of nothing when it came to Cherry.
"Uncle Jackson, do you regard her as your wife?" John asked. He looked into Jackson's cold eyes and
continued,"You don't love her! Did you marry her just to get back at me?"
Jackson was astonished that John had the courage to challenge him. It seemed that things had gone
too well for John these days.
"Why do you treat her so badly after marrying her?" John really wanted to know why Cherry looked so
terrible and what had happened between her and Jackson.
Jackson thought about John's words, 'Treat her badly?' The anger was building inside Jackson again.
He thought, 'Whether I treat my wife well or not, it is none of John's business. What right does John
have to lecture me?'
"John, don't you think you are way out of line?" Jackson yelled angrily.
"Uncle Jackson, are you admitting that you have a guilty conscience?" John didn't fear Jackson and he
continued,"Or maybe you are having an affair?"
Hearing John's words, Cherry was shocked. Jackson would definitely be angry at such an accusation,
and she dared not imagine what he would do when he was furious.
"John! Do you want to die?" Jackson was so angry that it looked as if he might explode at any moment.
John ignored Jackson's anger and said,"Uncle Jackson, don't forget that you're a soldier. You must
know better than me what the consequences of extramarital affair are."
"John Ye!" Jackson roared.
John looked at Jackson and suddenly recalled that Jackson had been like this several years ago. He
thought to himself, 'Back then, Jackson had been angry about a girl and he had been almost out of
control. But now, his face was even more frightening. In all these years, even though Jackson has been
angry several times, he had never been so frightening. It means that he does care what I've said.
Wait a minute! The girl! Back then, Jackson was angry because of the girl!'
John suddenly realized something and he thought, 'Could it be that...'
