Chapter 501 Do Not Ever Offend Shi Nuan

“What did you say?” Shi Wei stared at Shi Nuan in disbelief. “Impossible! How could Grandfather agree to let you sell the shares to somebody else? Are you crazy, Shi Nuan? What has the Shi family done to you to make you do this? What were you thinking?”

Shi Wei was not that bright, but she also thought of the reason at that moment.

If Shi Nuan really sold the shares to somebody else, it meant that not many shares were left in Shi Yunsheng’s possession. The shares that originally belonged to Shi Nuan were owned by other people, and they no longer belonged to the Shi family. Shi Wei glared at Shi Nuan viciously. “What do you want?”

Shi Nuan regarded Shi Wei with a wan smile. “Nothing much. I just think I’m not cut out for business, so I sold the shares to earn some money. You can buy the shares back if you really want them, Ms. Shi.”

Shi Nuan stared at Jiang Hu in surprise. “What are you doing here?”

“Mr. Fu told me to accompany you!” Jiang Hu was a hulking, burly man with a stocky and muscular body. He looked very strong and courageous. Su Su and Shi Wei turned pale when they recognized who Jiang Hu was.

Immediately, Su Su grabbed Shi Wei’s hand. “Wei, now’s not the time to get angry. We’d better leave first!”

As soon as she said that, Jiang Hu blocked Shi Wei and Su Su’s path.

Before Shi Wei could react, the man had already stood in front of her and her friend. Shi Wei screamed in fear, “W-What do you want?”

Jiang Hu regarded Shi Wei with contempt. Clearly, he did not respect her at all. Women like her were cowardly, and she was not even half as brave as Shi Nuan.

He glanced at Shi Wei disdainfully and pressed his lips. “Why are you running away? Our very own Mrs. Fu told you to wait.”

“I…” Shi Wei no longer felt angry upon seeing Jiang Hu. Then, she looked at Shi Nuan reluctantly. “What else do you want?”

Shi Nuan smiled. “Jiang Hu, make Ms. Shi return the stuff to me!”

Instead of waiting for Shi Wei to finish her piece, Jiang Hu grabbed her handbag and emptied its contents. Shi Wei’s cosmetics, purse, phone, and other items were strewn on the floor. Jiang Hu squatted down to pick up an envelope from the pile of items. “You may leave now!”

Shi Wei was annoyed, but when she noticed Jiang Hu’s glare, she did not even pack her belongings properly. Instead, she stuffed her items into her handbag hastily and ran away.

Jiang Hu handed the envelope to Shi Nuan. “Is this what you want, Mrs. Fu?”

She nodded and took a deep breath. “Yeah. Thank you, Jiang Hu!”

He scratched his head sheepishly. “You just have to call us if you need us, Mrs. Fu. You don’t have to negotiate with people like her!”

“Okay!” Shi Nuan nodded. “Did Yan tell you all to come over? Where is he?”

Before she could finish speaking, a car arrived. The car door opened, and a man came out of the driver’s seat. His gaze fell on Shi Nuan.

She beamed with joy when she saw Fu Chengyan. “Yan!”

Shi Nuan ran forward to hug her husband and snuggle in his embrace. “Why are you here?”

“Didn’t I tell you to let me handle this issue?” Fu Chengyan caressed Shi Nuan’s little head. He narrowed his eyes when he noticed how emotional she was. “What’s that in your hand?”

Shi Nuan froze, then shook her head. “If I show it to you, can you promise me that you won’t be angry?”

When Fu Chengyan heard that, something flashed before her eyes. Next, he snatched the envelope away from Shi Nuan’s grasp.

“Hey!” Shi Nuan wanted to say something else, but Fu Chengyan had already begun to lead her to the car. “Drive, Jiang Hu!”

“Yes, Mr. Fu!” Jiang Hu sat in the driver’s seat and instinctively raised the partition in the car.

A speechless Shi Nuan rolled her eyes. “Your men are too thoughtful!”

Fu Chengyan brushed his wife’s nose with his fingertip and got a soft cushion for her to lean against. After that, he fiddled with the envelope he snatched from Shi Nuan earlier. She felt anxious as she watched him toying with the envelope with his slender fingers. “Yan, you won’t get angry, will you?”

Unexpectedly, Fu Chengyan chuckled. “Why would I get angry?”

As he opened the envelope, Shi Nuan leaned over to take a look. To her surprise, there were only a few regular photographs of Shi Wei.

“Huh?” What’s going on? Shi Nuan was puzzled. Maybe, Shi Wei didn’t have those photographs after all? Still, it doesn’t make sense. Judging by Shi Wei’s personality, she wouldn’t have threatened me so openly if she didn’t possess those photographs. If Shi Wei could do that, it meant she actually had the photographs. However, why are the photographs in the envelope different? Was Shi Wei trying to dupe me all along? Then again, she doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would do that!

Various thoughts raced across Shi Nuan’s mind. Yet, she could not make sense of the whole situation.

After glancing at the photographs, Fu Chengyan threw them away. “Did you come over here just for these?”

“No!” Shi Nuan paused and heaved a sigh. “There’s something I probably need to tell you. If you find it unacceptable, then we…” Shi Nuan had yet to finish speaking when Fu Chengyan pinched her arm forcefully. She yelped in pain, “Yan, it hurts!”

Fu Chengyan stopped messing around and withdrew his hand. However, he stared at Shi Nuan solemnly. “May, no matter what happens, don’t ever tell me about that thing on your mind!”

“No buts!” Fu Chengyan interrupted her. “Nobody and nothing else are more important than you! That includes me as well!”

Still, no matter how hard I try to recall the past, I can’t remember anything at all!” Shi Nuan looked at Fu Chengyan as she spoke. However, he did not seem to be too shocked by her story.

She held his hands as she continued, “I came to see Shi Wei today because she told me something related to my disappearance years ago, and not because of other matters. I figured it had something to do with her, so I dropped by to have a look. Moreover, when I was discovered last time, my clothes were torn and tattered, and I think I was photographed by Shi Wei. She used the photographs as leverage in an attempt to acquire Huancheng’s shares. Therefore…”

“So, those photographs are supposed to be of you?” Fu Chengyan replied. He held and stroked the back of her hand. “Were you worried that I would misunderstand you because of those photographs?”

Shi Nuan gulped and nodded.

Suddenly, he pulled her into his arms. “Silly girl!”

A fierce gleam appeared in his deep, dark eyes as he hugged Shi Nuan. “Even if those photographs are present, I won’t misunderstand you!”

“But…”

“I already know about your disappearance.” Fu Chengyan caressed Shi Nuan’s head.

She looked up abruptly in astonishment. “How did you know? Did Grandpa tell you about it?”

He nodded. “All right. Stop worrying about this matter. I’ll take care of it. Relax!”

“Yan.” She tugged at the hem of his suit. “Don’t bother the Shi family for now.”

Lowering his gaze, Fu Chengyan observed Shi Nuan’s face and the sincerity in her eyes. He reached out and brushed her cheek tenderly. “All right!”

He understood her concerns. In spite of the Shi family’s hostility toward her, Shi Yunsheng was exceptionally kind toward Shi Nuan.

As such, Fu Chengyan did not harm the Shi family for the sake of Shi Yunsheng.

“You can just teach Shi Wei a lesson,” Shi Nuan said.

“Okay!” her husband answered.

Fu Chengyan carried his wife out of the car and brought her straight to their bedroom. When he was certain that she was asleep, he studied her placid expression for a while before exiting the room.

Zhou Zheng was already waiting for him downstairs. When Fu Chengyan came down, he got up instantly. “Mr. Fu!”

Fu Chengyan nodded. “Where’s the stuff?”

“Here!” Zhou Zheng handed a few envelopes to Fu Chengyan. “Su Su had swapped them earlier. Shi Wei’s most likely unaware of this!”

Fu Chengyan nodded. “Okay.” His gaze hardened as soon as he opened one of the envelopes and saw the photographs. “Take action against those who were involved in that incident. As for Shi Wei… What’s the latest update on Court Martins?”

“Mr. Li’s people have already made a few phone calls to her. It looks like they are investing in a new series recently.” Zhou Zheng put on a serious expression. Deep down, he thought nobody should ever offend Shi Nuan, for the punishment would be much worse than offending Fu Chengyan himself.

Fu Chengyan narrowed his eyes. “Very well. Let Mr. Li’s people handle it. The bigger the issue, the better!”

“What about Su Su?”

“After this incident, make sure she leaves Jiang City and never returns!”
