I Spy With My Secret Eyes

Chapter 207

Chapter 207

“What a strange individual!”

Oliver muttered internally. His head felt like it was swelling and ached mildly.

His body had felt exceptionally refreshing and at ease since he obtained the Book of Immortality’s aura. Being in such a sublime physical state meant he never experienced fever or dizziness, let alone a headache.

“What’s happening to me?”

His head weighed a ton, and the prickling pain was as if he was having a hangover. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Oliver rubbed his temples and circulated the Book of Immortality’s aura around his mind again. The feeling was like cold water flowing through him instantly, and he resumed his state of comfort.

The sense that something was off dawned upon him right then. “Could it be…

He lowered his gaze toward the crystal. “Does the problem lie with this?”

No wonder things felt strange. Everything that had occurred, such as the hallucinations appearing in his lucid mind, the fog inside the crystal suddenly becoming transparent, and the hangover-like sensation akin to pin-pricks, was the crystal’s doing.

“What does… the man look like?” Oliver looked up abruptly and directed his question at Frederick, who was caught off guard and had a delayed reaction.

“Who? Do you mean Howard, the priest?”

Oliver nodded.

Frederick cocked his head. “He looks to be in his thirties or forties. How should I put it? While he isn’t handsome, he’s certainly not bad-looking. He also possesses an impeccable aura like that of a divine being…”

“Besides, I felt as if he could see through my mind when I looked into his eyes…” He recalled and paused briefly before he pointed it out.

Oliver’s heart skipped a beat. His former self would have been indifferent to Frederick’s description, yet his attitude toward the inconceivable had changed since he personally encountered them.

“Do such mystifying individuals truly exist?” he mulled.

At the same time, he had a negative perception toward this so-called priest since the crystal he requested Frederick to send him seemed belligerent.

What state would he be in without the Book of Immortality’s aura inside his body?

It was a tricky question since the flow of the Book of Immortality’s aura prevented him from experiencing the aftereffects. But he was convinced it wouldn’t be

anything good.

Oliver voiced out deeply again after he pondered, “He doesn’t know me, right? Have both of you discussed our situation before and brought me up?”

Frederick shook his head after he contemplated, “I suppose… not? I can’t remember exactly. My mind keeps thinking of his eyes.”

Oliver began ruminating. The supposed priest would surely not have known of his existence under normal circumstances. Why would a stranger ask Frederick to hand him a crystal if he was supposed to check up on Yancy?

Besides, Frederick was sharp-witted despite being mean and complacent. He just met that person. It didn’t make sense for him to have only a vague impression of someone he’d just met.

Why did he give him a crystal out of the blue? After contemplating for a while, Oliver said to Frederick, “Arrange a meeting tomorrow.”

“Okay,” Frederick said nothing more, noticing Oliver moved his attention elsewhere at his pronouncement, and immediately got up to return to his room.

Oliver called Wayne and Simon once Frederick had departed.

They knew something was wrong at Oliver’s broody look and urgently queried, “Mr. Eastwood, what can we do for you?”

“Uncle Frederick went to see a priest whom a neighbor of Yancy’s grandmother sought the aid of to carry out an exorcism. His name is Howard, and he was supposed to take a look at Yancy’s illness. However, I had concerns about him being a charlatan and asked Uncle Frederick to test him out beforehand, but he returned with a crystal…”

He raised the crystal in his hand to Wayne and Simon. “This feels strange. I started hallucinating after I stared at it. Thankfully, I managed to free myself from the illusions. I was racking my brain thinking about why Howard, the priest, sent me this crystal if he wasn’t acquainted with me. I also feel as if he’s behaving antagonistically toward me. Why so, you ask?”

Wayne eyed Simon before he addressed Oliver, “Mr. Eastwood, we’ll look into this priest!”

Oliver inclined his head. “That’s my intention as well. I want to conduct a background check before meeting him.”

He warned gravely as soon as he finished speaking, “You shouldn’t go alone. Let Sim accompany you. This man… feels malevolent to me. Be careful.”

“Okay.” Wayne nodded and reached for his phone to dial Fabian to assign two more men to the hotel. He departed with Simon only after they arrived.

Oliver was at ease regarding Wayne and Simon as they were the creme-de-le-creme of the elite fighters, let alone the common folk.

This so-called priest, Howard, was either a swindler or a member of a criminal organization.

Either way, Oliver didn’t believe he could cure Yancy’s peculiar sickness.

Aside from the comrade and subordinate of Wayne who arrived with Fabian, there was Sienna.

Sienna was all over Oliver as soon as she stepped foot in the room. As such,

Fabian and the rest went to the suite next door with smiles on their faces to avoid

third-wheeling.

She frowned while she drew her attention to her bulging belly. “This little thing is getting naughtier by the day and keeps moving around. It isn’t obedient in the least.”

Oliver grinned. “Children who are goody-two-shoes are useless these days. They can’t even find daughters-in-law when they grow up since our Clusian population is mostly male.”

Sienna quirked her lips. “How are you so sure that the child will be a boy? I suppose you must be a goody-two-shoes yourself with the countless beauties. hovering around you.”

Oliver blushed and said awkwardly, “You’re right. There’s one here with me right now!”

Sienna snorted angrily. “Don’t butter me up. I’m not talking about myself. Enough with your pretense and feigned ignorance. I’m sure you know who I’m referring

to.”

Oliver chuckled dryly. It was evident that he’d gone to Oropa for Hailey. It wasn’t up to Sienna to feel jealous, and he could say nothing to defend himself.

Besides, he’d also been “entangled” with Cassia. While it had been unintentional, he never dared to come clean about it to Sienna.

It was better not to broach the subject.

Oliver gazed at Sienna and suddenly exclaimed, “You have a pimple on your face…”

While Sienna was delicate and beautiful, she wasn’t someone who paid excessive care to her appearance. She brushed him off, “What’s so strange about it? Everyone has them. Don’t try switching topics. Be honest with me. What were you doing with Hailey?”

Oliver immediately raised his hand in surrender and confessed honestly, “I swear, nothing happened between me and Hailey. She didn’t return to the country as she feared you’d misunderstand and stayed behind at a casino to work. Cross my heart! I haven’t even spoken to her privately!”
