CHAPTER 329
CHAPTER 329
Avril palmed her chest, gawking at her father. She had trouble digesting the truth, and even the usually calm and accepting Mairi was in a daze.
Mairi said, “Oh my goodness! My daughter is a world–renowned leading researcher. I’m so proud of her. I can’t believe she’s my daughter!” From NôvelDrama.Org.
Avril found her mother’s words slightly distasteful, saying, “Mom, would you please say she’s your goddaughter? You’re not her birth mother, you know.‘
“Oh, right. You have a point. Here, I’ll give it another shot. I’m so proud of my goddaughter! There, do you feel better now?”
Avril did not know how to respond to that.
Meanwhile, Bonnie reached her research institute. The staff members had just finished dinner and were about to start the meeting. Someone asked, “Bonnie, that you? What are you doing here?”
‘Huh, who’s that? He sounds familiar.’
Bonnie turned around and was surprised, asking, “Why are you here?”

Paul scoffed and countered, “I asked you first. Now, tell me how you got in. Did you sneak in? How dare you slither your way into Bonita Research Institute! Leave now, or I’ll get someone to kick you out!”
Bonnie stared at him casually. She remembered Trina boasting about something at the Shepards‘ dining table last time. Trina said Paul knew an old friend who worked in the research institute.
With that in mind, Bonnie could guess why Paul was here. She asked, “Did your friend let you into the institute?”
“How do you know that?” Paul questioned. After some thought, he asked, “Did Trina tell you I have a friend who works here?”
Bonnie said coldly, “There are rules here stating that staff members can’t bring in anyone as they please. A visitor needs the authorization of three professors before
entering. Tell me what your friend’s name is and who the two professors who approved your visit are.”
Paul could not help but wonder how she knew all these things.
Bonnie added, “I’m sure you’re here to rally people to help you get Trina back into Pyralis University.”
Paul’s eyes widened in shock as she had guessed it right again.
“Hmph,” Bonnie scoffed, “You think Trina’s a scientific genius, huh? However, she’s just a cunning prick. So many others are miles ahead of her in talent and skills. Even so, the institute rejected them. Trina’s a nobody compared to them.”
“You’re just jealous of Trina and want what she has! How dare you say she’s a cunning prick! You’re the one who’s nothing compared to her.”
Professor Caleb had just exited the restroom when he heard Paul arguing with someone. The former asked, “Who are you fighting with, Paul? Did someone step on your toes?”
Then, Caleb’s heart sank when he saw Bonnie.
‘No one else is around. Damn, it! Is Paul arguing with Ms. Bonita?!‘
