Chapter 1091: After All, Both People and Children Are Mine

Before getting into the car, Anika stopped and looked back. Her voice was soft as she said, "I don't

want to come here anymore."

Iris reached out and embraced her, saying, "Alright, you won't have to come anymore."

Yanis reached out and gently rubbed Anika's head, murmuring, "Things will get better from now on."

Anika nodded and embraced Yanis back. "Thank you for your encouragement, sister-in-law."

Although Yanis didn't visit Anika frequently, she sent her messages every day.

Yanis patted Anika's back gently and said softly, "Take care and be good with Iris in the future."

Anika nodded. "Okay."

"Let's go have lunch at Banyan Garden later, my brother will treat us," Yanis said in a hushed voice as

she let go of Anika.

Anika glanced at Zane's face and then nodded with a smile. "Sounds good!"

The distance from South Hospital to Banyan Garden was a bit far. By the time they arrived at the

entrance, it was already getting dark outside.

Zane had arranged for a reservation at Banyan Garden in advance, so they didn't have to worry about

not having a table.

Guided by the waiter, they were led directly to a private room.

Once they were seated, Yanis and Anika huddled together and ordered their dishes.

After placing their orders, Yanis looked at Zane and whispered, "I need to use the restroom."

Zane stood up as well. "I'll accompany you."

Yanis chuckled in a somewhat helpless manner. "It's just a few steps, I can go on my own."

"Brother, I'll go with sister-in-law. You stay here," Anika said as she stood up.

Zane glanced at Yanis and then nodded. "Take your time."

"Don't worry, I'll take care of sister-in-law," Anika replied and then led Yanis out of the private room.

As Yanis and Anika left, Iris lifted her eyes from her phone and glanced at Zane. She spoke softly with

a hint of congratulations, "Congratulations."

Zane raised an eyebrow upon hearing Iris's words. He focused his gaze on her and asked,

"Congratulations for what?"

Iris looked back at Zane with a smile. "Seems like your guard against me might be a bit unnecessary

now?"

Zane gave her a faint look and retorted, "Who knows if you're just trying to take advantage?"

Iris couldn't help but chuckle at Zane's response. "If you put it that way, you'll have to guard against me

for the rest of your life."

Zane glanced at Iris and then shifted his gaze away without saying anything more.

The two of them fell into a moment of silence. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Finally, Zane broke the silence. "How did you find out?"

"If I said I figured it out on my own, would you believe me?" Iris teased, her eyes fixed on Zane.

Zane locked eyes with Iris for a moment before averting his gaze and answering in a low voice, "Until

things are completely settled, I don't want too many people to know."

Iris understood Zane's cautious approach, especially given the previous incidents that still sent shivers

down their spines. It was only natural for him to be careful this time.

"You can trust me, I won't go around telling anyone," Iris assured.

"It's not like you would even if I allowed it," Zane replied.

Iris looked at him curiously.

Zane casually remarked, "After all, both people and children are mine."

Iris: "…"

Zane's sudden display of childishness left Iris speechless. She couldn't help but feel tempted to give

him a playful slap.

However, she refrained from doing so and swiftly changed the subject. "Anika's condition is mostly fine

now. We should find a suitable opportunity for both sides to meet officially. I'd like to finalize things as

soon as possible."

In reality, Iris didn't really need Zane's input on this matter. For the sake of sincerity, she intended to

personally visit the Old Mr. Lawrence and the Old Mrs. Lawrence with a gift in hand.

But due to Anika's special identity, Zane was the only person she could turn to for this matter.

Anika had mentioned before that among the entire Lawrence family, aside from the Old Mr. Lawrence

and the Old Mrs. Lawrence, the person who genuinely treated her well was Zane.

Iris could tell that Zane was the most important person to Anika, even more important than the Old Mr.

Lawrence and the Old Mrs. Lawrence. So, it was only fitting to consult Zane first.

After hearing Iris's words, Zane nodded. "Just let me know when you've sorted out the timing. I'll inform

the Old Mr. Lawrence and the Old Mrs. Lawrence beforehand."

"Thank you," Iris replied.

Without continuing the conversation, Zane lowered his voice and said, "Take good care of her."

"I know," Iris affirmed.

When Yanis and Anika returned from the restroom, they found that the dishes had not yet been served.

The two of them stood together, engrossed in their phones, completely oblivious to Iris and Zane.

It wasn't until dinner was ready that Zane spoke up to interrupt their interaction. "Yanis, let's start

eating."

Yanis responded with an "Okay" and then chatted with Anika for a while before putting her phone away.

As for what Yanis and Anika talked about, Anika didn't mention it to Iris, and Yanis didn't tell Zane

either.

After finishing the meal, Zane was concerned that Yanis might be tired, so he asked Anika to escort her

back while he accompanied Yanis to return to D-king Castle.

Upon entering the house, Zane helped Yanis take off her shoes. He then inquired casually, "You

finished your shower so quickly?"

Yanis, who was bending down to change her shoes, replied, "It's been half an hour already."

Zane expressed his surprise, "Really? It's been that long?"

Yanis looked at Zane, then stood up straight and said, "I'll be sitting downstairs for a while. You go

ahead and take a shower, and let me know when you're done."

Zane was about to say something, but Yanis had already turned and walked towards the sofa, taking

out her phone and typing quickly.

Zane stood still for a moment, then turned and headed upstairs.

Yanis watched Zane's figure disappear upstairs. Once he was gone, she took a sip of water and put the

glass down. Just as she was about to sit back on the sofa, she heard footsteps approaching.

Yanis turned her head and saw Zane walking back down the stairs. She greeted him, "You're done with

your shower so soon?"

"It's been half an hour," Zane repeated with a faint smile.

Yanis let out a soft sound of surprise, "Was it that fast?"

Zane looked at Yanis, sensing that she had something on her mind but hesitated to speak. Eventually,

he asked again, "Who were you chatting with just now?"

"Anika," Yanis answered truthfully. She didn't hide the fact that she was talking to Anika, but she had no

intention of telling Zane the content of their conversation.

When Zane heard that it was Anika, he decided not to pry any further. He reached out and took Yanis's

hand. "I've prepared the bathwater for you. Go ahead and take a shower."

Yanis nodded in response. She took a couple of steps but then paused near the staircase. "We ate

quite a bit tonight."

After Yanis's remark, Zane stood up and moved in front of her, crouching down.

He looked up at her and asked with a gentle smile, "Tired from eating too much?"

Yanis chuckled softly. "Not exactly tired, but I feel pretty full."

Zane's gaze was warm as he reached out and tugged at her hand. "Let's go upstairs. A warm shower

will help you feel better."

Yanis allowed Zane to lead her up the stairs, their fingers intertwined as they walked together. The two

of them disappeared from the living room, leaving behind a sense of quiet intimacy in the air.
