Chapter 1068: We Can Only Be Friends
Brandon could tell that Sandy was tired, so he led her to the car. However, when they arrived at the car,
Stella and Nelson hadn't caught up yet. Brandon put his things in the car and then turned to help Sandy
into the car.
"Do you want something to drink?" Sandy looked around and said, "I want an ice cream."
Brandon was initially about to refuse, but when he saw the expectant look in Sandy's eyes, he had a
mental struggle and finally relented, "You can have a small bite."
Sandy nodded and said, "Okay."
Brandon turned and went to get the ice cream, handing it to Sandy after he opened it.
"Brandon, I suddenly want one of those skewers from over there," Sandy said.
Brandon looked at her and cautioned, "You should eat less of these."
"Just one skewer!"
Brandon couldn't help but get her the skewer as well.
But by the time he returned with the skewer, Sandy's ice cream was almost finished.
"Sandy…" Brandon's words were cut off as Sandy placed her finger on his lips.
"Is it sweet?" Sandy looked at him with bright eyes, asking.
Brandon's Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, "Yes."
"Then... do you want to taste it?" Sandy's hands were hooked around his neck, and she gazed at him
with a mischievous smile.
Her eyes seemed to have a hook in them, reeling Brandon in. He lost his composure for a moment. A
gentle kiss landed on Sandy's lips, sweeping away the remaining sweetness of the ice cream.
Though it was passionate, Brandon didn't let it escalate too much.
After a while, he pulled away, looking at Sandy's rosy lips. He averted his gaze, handing her the skewer
and advising, "Eat a bit less."
Sandy agreed, "Okay."
This time, Sandy was obedient and stopped eating after two pieces.
Just as Stella and Nelson arrived, Sandy looked up, and Stella handed her a beautiful crown. "For
you."
Sandy smiled at the crown in Stella's hand, "Sis, I've grown up now."
"Even if you're seventy or eighty, you're still the little princess in my heart."
Sandy extended her hand, taking the crown from Stella and passing it to Brandon. "Brandon, help me
put it on!"
Brandon handed the things he was holding to Nelson and then took the crown from Sandy. He gently
placed it on her head and said, "My princess, it's time for us to head home."
Sandy suppressed a smile and scooted over, muttering, "You're such a child."
Brandon observed how Sandy doted on Stella and was suddenly filled with contentment. He had
worried that Sandy might be affected by what happened between Stella and Luca. Seeing Sandy so
happy now truly warmed his heart.
They got into the car and headed towards the city center.
"Are you going straight home?" Brandon turned to Nelson and asked.
"My car is over there. Would you mind giving me a ride?"
Brandon agreed and headed back to the Hawkins family with Nelson.
Upon arriving home, Nelson had initially planned to drive back, considering the late hour. However, just
as they got out of the car, Maya and Kason emerged from inside the house. "Nelson, why not stay here
tonight? I've prepared a room for you."
Nelson looked at Maya, a questioning look in his eyes. "It's not far anyway. I…"
"I've talked to Auntie. She said you could stay with Brandon tonight," Maya explained.
Nelson hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Alright."
"Sis, did you really talk to my mom?" Nelson lowered his voice and asked Maya as everyone else
walked inside.
Maya had yet to respond when Kason, who was walking next to her, chimed in, "Don't you want to
spend more time together?"
Nelson looked at Kason and said, "Brother, are you eavesdropping on our conversation?"
"I can't be jealous when you're so close to my wife?" Kason retorted. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Nelson sighed and admitted, "She doesn't seem interested. She's keeping her distance."
Maya glanced at Stella's retreating figure and whispered to Kason, "She's been through a lot. She
might overthink things. Nelson, you're not exactly inexperienced either. You should be more
perceptive."
After a moment's pause, Maya looked at Nelson seriously. "To be honest, are you okay with her being
divorced?"
Nelson replied without hesitation, "Why not? It's quite normal, isn't it?"
Whether it was Nelson or the Penn family, they weren't burdened by old-fashioned ideas. In today's
society, divorce wasn't a big deal anymore.
"That's good to hear. I think you two are a good match. But if you're not serious, it's better not to start
anything. It wouldn't be appropriate if things didn't end well, especially with Sandy in the mix."
Nelson understood the underlying message in Maya's words and nodded. "I know."
Maya nodded in return. "Alright, go freshen up and rest. You can borrow some clothes from Brandon."
Nelson acknowledged her and followed Brandon and the others.
"Do you think they'll work out?" Maya watched Nelson's retreating figure and asked Kason in a hushed
tone.
Kason put his arm around Maya and replied, "If there's a connection between them, it'll work out.
Besides, Nelson isn't the kind to play games. If he genuinely has feelings for Stella, he'll be sincere.
And if he doesn't, he won't resort to underhanded tactics."
Maya nodded in agreement.
Sandy had some expectations regarding Stella and Nelson. So, after taking a shower, she headed
straight to Stella's room.
After finishing in the shower, Brandon had intended to have a conversation with Sandy and maybe take
advantage of the situation. However, when he emerged, Sandy was nowhere to be seen.
Seeing the empty room, Brandon sighed and left as well.
Nelson came out after his shower and was startled when he saw Brandon sitting on the bed. "What are
you doing?"
Brandon lifted an eyebrow in disdain, giving Nelson a once-over. "What can I do? What could I possibly
do to you?"
Perplexed by Brandon's response, Nelson asked, "Why do you sound so annoyed?"
Brandon didn't continue that line of conversation. "So, how was your talk today?"
Nelson's hand paused as he dried his hair. He moved to sit next to Brandon and said, "There's
something I haven't told you."
Brandon looked at him and asked, "What?"
"Brandon, I sometimes wonder, are you really my brother? You and Olive grew up with me
. How come Olive opened her eyes, but you haven't?" Nelson's words left Brandon baffled.
"What do you mean?"
Brandon raised his gaze to meet Nelson's. "Are you into Olive?"
"I like you too!" Nelson raised his voice in exasperation.
Brandon glared at Nelson, saying, "No chance!"
Nelson let out a sigh and continued, "I have a special circumstance. You know, so I can probably only
be friends with Miss Thompson."
Brandon frowned, "What do you mean by that?"
After asking this, Brandon looked at Nelson and said, "Do you like Olive?"
"I like you too!" Nelson's voice raised slightly in frustration.
Brandon gave him a stern look. "It's a no-go with you!"
Nelson sighed, "I'm not interested in someone like you."
He dropped the towel to the side, lowered his voice, and added, "I'm a bit different, you know? So, I
can probably only be friends with Miss Thompson."
