Howling Hearts

Chapter 9

Asher:

I was sitting on my bed staring at the ceiling, wondering what I was going to do to fix this problem. Even though I never saw Red as someone to be intimate with, the thought of her has made me lustful after today. I keep remembering how she looked today. How she should have looked with that green dress pulled up to her waist. She was roaming my thoughts relentlessly. Suddenly, a knock came from my door. I flew up with the hopes that it was Red. But with her scent not filling this room, I knew it wasn't her. I opened the door to see Saige with a bag slinging over her shoulder. "Ashy baby can I stay with you tonight?" She batted her eyelashes and pouted her mouth.

"Saige, I can't be around you anymore."

"Oh come on Ashy we both know u still like me." She leaned against the door perking her chest up. "Saige find somewhere else" I said through gritted teeth.

Her whole mood changed and she gazed at me with fury evident in her eyes. She turned around and walked away without another word.

This was exactly why I couldn't have a serious relationship with her. She was a moody brat. One I didn't have time for and wouldn't have when I became alpha. I got up and walked to the door.

When I opened the door again, I saw it wasn't Saige but my parents. They were furious. Even though I rarely got the bad end of their anger, I could see today would definitely be the day.

"Can we come in?" My mother said with a smile on her face. I could see a frown was fighting to take its place as the anger just rolled off with her aura. "Sure why not?"

I left my parents' house and got my own place the day I turned 17. I just needed more privacy. Not that it helped much. They would still pitch up here every now and then.

When they entered the apartment, I closed the door slowly, trying to buy time and think about what I had done so wrong. They wouldn't know about Red, would they?

"Son, tell me about your day" my father ordered. He didn't even try hiding his anger towards me and almost jumped right to the point. "Ag not much happened, it was mostly normal." I tried to hide away the fact that I had met my mate.

I had to first know what they knew without snitching on myself. "Asher, we need to know the truth and we need to hear it from you" My mom said, raising her eyebrows in judgement." About what mom?" I tried to still make myself seem innocent. "Well, for, starters does a mate ring a bell" My father said without hesitating.

I stopped in my tracks and knew the ambush had come. My parents always worked together. Especially when there is something important and well, I guess this was important enough to gang up on me.

"Well OK, I did say mostly normal" I tried to wiggle myself out of this. "Asher!" My mom warned me to not play games with them. "OK, calm down mom. Yes, I met my mate but it's not what you expect it to be like." I said, looking everywhere but their eyes.

"Well, care to explain?" My dad said, tilting his head in curiosity.

"Well, I guess you already heard the full story otherwise you wouldn't have pitched up so I will just say this. I thought Saige was my mate. She kind of smelled like it until I realized it was just the jersey and at that point it was too late." My parents' eyes grew wide and they turned to look at each other before their heads snapped towards me.

"Well, you have to set this right son" My dad said sternly. "I know dad I just don't know how." I said with a big sigh.

"We will help out with that" my mom said while getting her phone out and getting on a phone call. After a while, she got off the phone and I stood there anxious to hear what she had come up with. 1Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

"Well, I organized that you will get to see her privately to work this out at seven tonight. Her place but apologizing and fixing this is up to you my boy." My mother said with a calm voice and a proud smirk that stretched its way on her face.

"Thanks mom, I appreciate it", I said to her while giving her a hug. As I pulled away from the hug I couldn't help but curiosity got the better of me. "How did you guys even find out?" I asked, but with caution so as not to upset them.

"Asher u broke the heart of someone in the beta family, my best friend and right hand. Did you really think we wouldn't know? Her mom called your mom very upset and, luckily, your mom calmed her down. Or else you might have been facing the wrath of a mother that isn't from your own mother. I do think it will be best for you and your position to stay away from Saige." My dad said sternly.

As he always does. He threatened my position in this pack without any hesitation and I knew he was serious. Let's just hope I can think with my brain from now on.

As I was hugging my parents goodbye and showing them out, my mom turned around and looked me straight in the eyes with a warning filling them.

"I can't help you out if you screw this up again, Asher. Please take this seriously."

I stood still for a while and just thought their words through. "Ok mom" was all I could get out. I never wanted to be a disappointment to them and at this moment I am. They left and I closed the door. My meeting with Red is in two hours.
