Chapter 66
A sudden scream filled the halls, causing me and Lucian to sit up in bed at a fast pace. He jumped up and looked around the hall.
I then saw his eyes go cloudy for a moment, meaning that he was mind linking someone.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
When the color returned to his eyes, the color of his skin faded.
"What is it Lucian?" I asked in a panic tone, hearing the screaming voice echo through the halls and pound right on my ear drums.
It was a scream of total t*****e and pain.
I was afraid that we were under attack and Lucian's pale face didn't ease my worries.
I stood up and got out of bed, making my way over to Lucian steadily. "What's wrong Lucian", I asked again, placing my hand on his cheek. It seems that some sentences in this chapter require you to read the complete chapters on in order to avoid an incomplete reading experience. It seemed to do the trick and he came back blinking his eyes.
"R..Riley is in labor" he stuttered. Her scream echoed down the halls again, bringing a shiver down my spine.
Was this what was awaiting me in my near future? I took a deep breath and shook the thought out of my head. "Shouldn't we take her to the pack hospital?"
"She's not part of our pack"
"But she's part of our closest ally's pack that has to count for something?" He shook his head slowly, pity filling his every movement.
"her father kicked her out" he said slowly.
My shoulders dropped and I couldn't help but feel pity for her.
"So what do we do now? Isnt there another way? Cant we take her to a normal hospital then?"
He shook his head slowly and I sat down onto the bed feeling defeated.
I know that had I been in her position I would've wanted to have the best medical care there is to insure me and my child's safety through a vulnerable time like this.
"We can't take her to a human hospital. We wolves have different bodies and healing abilities. Normal human medication doesn't help us.
Besides, the labor for she wolves is so much different from what human's experience. Some pups end up clawing themselves out of their mother's womb.
Other times, the she wolves lose control and shift, giving birth into their wolf form. There is so much that could happen if we don't have the right help" I whimpered at the thought of this possibly happening to me.
Would my pup claw its way out slashing and ripping through my organs until it sees a sign of light, A sudden surge of power ran through my body, concentrating on my fingertips.
I stood up and my feet guided me all the way down the stairs right in front of the room that Riley was in.
I stood in front of the door preparing myself for whatever sight might lie beyond the door. It was silent and for a moment I thought I was too late.
Another scream blasted through my ear drums, puncturing my brain, causing a stinging headache to rest there. I burst through the door and saw Riley leaning over the windowsill.
Her body was covered in sweat and her hair clung to her like black veins. She looked up at me and I could see the desperation and pain written all over her face.
Then her face scrunched up displaying excruciating pain before another scream filled the room.
"Come lie down". I patted the bed.
"No.... No it hurts too much"She cried as she shook her head in protest.
"Riley Lie down", I used my Luna aura and she quickly did as I asked.
I moved her legs, spreading them and bending them so that I could have a clear view of when the pup came.
Another scream followed and I could see some hair poking out from her slits.
"Riley, Listen to me, the pup is close. You need to push"
"Push how"
"Like your pooping". I said, remembering a video I saw explaining the birthing process.
"AHHHHH" she screamed as she pushed. I could see the pup coming closer.
"Almost there Riley, keep going"
"...I Can't"
She whimpered as the pain seemed to be getting to much for her to handle. "Riley listened to me. You can and you will" I said in a soft tone, reassuring her. "If... If I don't make it, Scarlet will you please look after my pup." I was taken aback by her statement and soon realized just how alone she truly was.
There was no one by her side, no one who cared anymore, just me. "Don't think like that, Riley" I said, trying to concentrate on the pup.
"Please" She pleaded and tears started to drop down her cheeks.
"Please, Scarlet"
"Fine"
""Promise me"
"I promise that you will make it out of here alive now stop talking cr*p and push" I grabbed hold of her ankle out of instinct and soon it seemed like the pain had lessen.
Her head fell back and a relieved sigh escaped her mouth. I looked down at my hand and saw my hand's veins glowing green and her ankle veins too. I was somehow making her feel better.
"Push Riley", I heard Layla say and saw her standing in the door frame. After hours of pushing, a beautiful baby girl came out.
I was the one to catch her and I wrapped her tightly in a towel that was nearby. I started tugging at the umbilical cord slowly trying to deliver the placenta.
When it eventually popped out, I saw a claw mark on the placenta.
I knew that I had just come on time. If I hadn't come, Riley would never have made it.
I sighed in relief and mind linked Doctor Peterson to bring the supplies needed for snipping the umbilical cord.
I walked over to Riley, passing her baby over to her. She accepted her with open arms. Her babyhad black hair, green eyes and a tanned skin that was clearly from Aiden.
I looked around the room expecting to see him at least be nearby, but there was no sign of him.
"Thank you Scarlet", Riley said in a soft tone, bringing my attention back to her.
I smiled at her as warmly as I could.
"Don't stress about it I'm a soon to bemom too" I said, and her eyes twinkled at the thought.
"Maybe our pups can be best friends," I giggled at the thought.
"Maybe. What you naming her?" Riley looked at the pup in her arms.
"Dawn", she said.
I Looked outside and saw the sun starting to light the sky and giggled a little at her.
"Is it because she was born at dawn?" I asked curiously. Riley looked out the windowand giggled at herself.
"No but that is a plus,'
"Then why if you don't mind me asking"
"It means a fresh start, a new beginning." I smiled at her answer.
"It's an beautiful name for a beautiful pup"
Riley smiled at me and I knew that this was a new beginning for the both of us.
