His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies

Chapter 192

Chapter 192

“Serena, come on, we’re on vacation!” Luna spoke and looked over my shoulder. It had been an hour since I talked to Christian, and I was already freaking out because he hadn’t even texted me.

Would he have noticed I was angry?

Of course, he did. I hung up in his ear. My reaction was definitely a bit over the top, and there was no reason for me to react that way. But was I really in the wrong? He told me to go out and have fun, right after I had opened up to him and that was unacceptable.

“Did you see all this food? Oh my god!” Faith yelled out. Luna removed the attention from me and rushed to Faith. “You’re kidding!” She spoke.

The house was indeed lovely, but as always, I was worried about other things. “Is this still about Christian?” Isobel asked. Unfortunately, Luna and Faith had no issues showing their hatred towards her, so poor Isobel had been stuck by my side.

“At least he’s not like your brother. He didn’t even send me a text back,” Isobel spoke with an irritated look on her face. Isobel complained more about Beau than I complained about Christian, which meant she complained a lot.

“I

old him how much I missed him and Siena, and he told me to have fun.” I spoke and waited for her to agree, but she let out a surprised laugh. “That’s Christian, Serena.” She rolled her eyes. “Anyway, I really have to pee-pregnancy is not for me.”

I watched as Isobel walked off and thought about her words. There were more important issues, such as Berto’s existence and the key and yet here I was, worrying about Christian being Christian.

I was awakened from my thoughts by the notification on my phone and had expected it to be Christian, but it wasn’t. It was Dario.

I’m a bit jealous you get to leave while I’m stuck here with Christiang

My eyes got big as I read his text over and over again. Were my eyes deceiving me, or was he really trying to flirt with me?

Calm down, Serena, I told myself. It probably didn’t mean anything, but why was my stomach doing turns? Why was I so nervous?

I flinched at the sounds of Olivia, Luna, and Faith cheers and smiled as Olivia stuck out her hand so I could join them. “You need to stop being so boring,” Olivia complained. “Yes!” Luna agreed “What’s the point of going on a vacation if all you’re going to do is nag about Christian!”

There was a lot the girls didn’t know yet, like the fact he cheated on me, but I was willing to save his, reputation and kept my mouth shut. “You guys are right!” I smiled.

“We’re here in Panama in a nice house, without a man bothering us, so what’s the issue?”

Right?

“The issue is in the bathroom.” Luna rolled her eyes while Faith and Olivia joined in and laughed. They would never stop talking crap about Isobel, and I knew I was the one who had encouraged them, but enough was enough.

“Come on. She isn’t like that anymore.” I defended Isobel. The girls were starting to sound an awful lot like my dad.

“But she tried to have you and Siena killed,” Olivia spoke. “I don’t know if I feel safe with her in the same

room.

“You guys.” Faith smiled after seeing the annoyed look on my face. She slammed her arm around my, shoulder. “If Serena says she isn’t like that anymore, then she isn’t like that anymore.”

“At least there’s one person who’s willing to listen.”

“But still.” Olivia continued. “I’m not even getting into the fact that you and Christian act as if she’s the

victim here.”

“I can’t believe she gets to date your ridiculously hot brother and that she’s even having his babies.” She complained. “It should’ve been me.”

“First of all, ew.” I rolled my eyes. My brother being ‘hot’ was the last thing I wanted to hear from their mouth. “And second of all, they won’t last anyway, so I’m not going to=”

“So.”

I turned around and looked at Isobel, who leaned against the wall. It was silent and awkward as everyone

stared at each other.

“Is it obvious that I’m carrying twins, or is this bikini alright?” Isobel frowned. I took a relieved breath and smiled at her. “It looks good on you, right girls?”

They all mumbled something while they shot her a glare. This vacation was going to be nice. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“I’m heading to the pool, are you guys joining me or what?” Isobel smiled. The sides of her lips were trembling, and knowing her temper, it was most likely because she had heard us, but she decided to play it

off.

“The pool sounds nice.” I agreed. “Let me change real quick, are you guys joining us?”

Olivia, Faith, and Luna looked at each other before their eyes landed on Isobel. “You guys go, we’ll go, and uhm…explore!” Luna spoke. I wasn’t in the mood to get into it and shrugged my shoulders. “If that’s what you guys want.”

gone with Isobel made her way outside while the other girls went and did their own thing. I could’ve them, but I was not down with the bullying and would not leave my future sister-in-law alone, especially

not now.

I unpacked my luggage and looked at the bikinis Christian had bought for me. They looked good, and I wondered whether he had picked them out himself or if he let someone do it for him. I took a deep, breath as my mind went back to Christian. He was annoying, but I still missed him and I couldn’t stop thinking about him.

I put on the bikini and took a look in the mirror. Wasn’t it weird that Dario asked for a picture? Who in his right mind would ask his cousin’s fiancée a bikini pic?

I did the unexpected and took a picture of my outfit, but instead of sending it to Dario, I send it to the person who was the reason why I was here in the first place, Christian. I wouldn’t betray him in a million years, and texting Dario already felt like a sin, so let alone sending him a picture.

“Serena!” Isobel called out. “Are you also sick of me, or what?”

I laughed at her loud voice and grabbed my towel before I made my way outside. “I’m here!” I told her. Isobel snuffled and put on her sunglasses.

“Were you crying?” I asked, worried. Christian’s intentions were great, but sending her along with three girls who were not that nice to her while she was pregnant and emotional was not the smartest move. Į thought she was supposed to look out for me and not the other way around.

I shove her aside so I could sit next to her and pulled her into a hug. “I’m sorry for what I said, and I’m sorry for what my friends said. I’m sorry.”

“There’s nothing to be sorry about,” Isobel spoke. “It’s all true, and I’m crying because it feels like I’m ruining your vacation, and no one likes me.”

“What?”

Isobel removed the sunglasses from her eyes and looked at me with red eyes and a sad pout. “I’m sorry, I don’t cry that easily.”

“Don’t be sorry-it’s probably because you’re pregnant and emotional!” I smiled at her. “It’s not a big deal. I cry every day.”

“Are you also pregnant?” Isobel asked. I shook my head. “I hope not. I’m not ready to have more children at the moment.”

“Neither was 1,” Isobel sighed. Her breathing got back to normal, and she seemed to have calmed down a bit. “Are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine,” Isobel spoke. “It’s not your friends, but it’s everything.” She confessed. “No one wants me around. Beau is ignoring me. My family still despises me-

“Don’t worry about my brother!” I reassured her.

“Beau is a bit weird, but you should know that by now.”

“So? Even Christian called you, and he’s not that different.” Isobel scoffed. I would love to tell her that it was not the case, but unfortunately, it was. Christian was nowhere near perfect, but he wasn’t as terrible as my brother. “True.”

“How about Dario? Did he call you?” Isobel asked. I turned around to look at her face, but she seemed serious. “W-why would he call me?” I asked, embarrassed.

“Because the two of you are into each other, and he’s your backup after Christian.” Isobel chuckled. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell him.”

“That’s because there’s nothing to tell because it isn’t true!” I denied her accusation. Dario and I were close friends, that was all.

“Enough about Dario. If you’re in denial, then stay in denial.” Isobel laughed. “Let’s talk about more – important stuff, such as Christian and Beau leaving us in the dark about everything.”

“Oh my god!” I exclaimed with wide eyes. “So you have the same issue!”

and “Of course I do. Almost all the women do.” Isobel rolled her eyes. Christian promised to involve me, he did, but he was still holding back some stuff. If he really wanted to do this together, he wouldn’t have send me away,

“Sometimes I think…I’m not built for this life.” I opened up. I was a boring person from the get-go, so it wasn’t as if my new life was uninteresting, but I also didn’t want to live my life like this. I didn’t want to have to worry all the time. “I can’t even remember the word, peace, because there has been some kind of issue ever since I’ve been with Christian.”

“And then there’s this fear about getting a call one day and hearing he’s not coming back home anymore because someone blasted a bullet through his head-

“Exactly!” I spoke, surprised. It felt good to talk to someone who knew what I was going through. “We already deal with so much crap, so the last thing they can do is send us a message!”

“I feel the same way.” Isobel spoke. “And sometimes I think that Lola friend of yours is absolutely right!”

“Luna.” I corrected her. Isobel shrugged me off and continued her rant. “They don’t want to give us attention?

“Then we’ll force them to give us attention!”

All of this started out as a joke, but Isobel seemed to be very serious with her choice of words. Maybe she wasn’t crazy, and perhaps it was the right approach. I began to understand why Christian cheated on me, but I wouldn’t do the same to him. At least, not in that way.

“So, what do you suggest we do?” I asked Isobel. She sat up straight and looked at me with a grin on her

face.

“I say we drop the pool and get ready for tonight so we can enjoy our single life!”
