Chapter 200

“Serena, please not note. “Christian answered. He knew it was wrong, but now was not the right time to discuss it as there were more important stuff to worry about.

“What do you mean, not nete?”Serena snarled. Are we really going to pretend like you didn’t call me a bad mom?”

She had picked up the phone, expecting an apology, but had quickly sensed that it was not going to happen. Christian wanted nothing more than apologize, but he knew she deserved better than some apology over the phone.

“Just let it rest. I need you to listen to me.” He spoke. He knew Serena would understand the seriousness of the situation if he would not give in to her nagging.

“What’s wrong? Is Siena alright?” Serena asked, worried. “Siena is fine.”

“Listen, I need you to lock all the doors, and I need you to stay inside for today-no matter what happens,” Christian.

instructed.

“Christian, what’s going on? You’re scaring me.” Christian could hear the worry in her voice. He felt terrible because it was not his intention to ruin her day. He had sent her away, so she didn’t have to deal with all of this, and it backfired.

“There’s nothing to be scared about. I won’t let anything happen to you-I promise.” Christian spoke.

“Then what’s going on?” Serena demanded an answer. Christian knew that Serena would not stop unless he gave her one. “Nothing, but I just want you to be prepared. You know what to do if something does happen.”

“We’ve discussed this many times before, do you remember?” He asked. It was the exact instructions they went through from the moment she moved in.

“Yes, I need to stay calm, keep quiet-”

“And you’re not a hero, so don’t try to be one.” Christian reminded her. Serena’s way of being obsessed with doing the right thing, scared him the most, especially since he wasn’t there to protect her.

“Things sound serious.” Serena sighed. “Please tell me you’re canceling this party, and please tell me Carmen and Luke are safe.”

“Yes, they’re safe,” Christian confirmed. “Don’t worry about the party, please put yourself first this time. They are not your responsibility.”

“Yes, I know,” Serena spoke, annoyed. It was the exact selfish words he would tell her over and over again. “Even though I hate you at the moment, you should know that it goes for you too.”

“So please don’t force yourself to be the hero. I sometimes like you better when you’re selfish.” Serena confessed. Christian smiled at hearing those words. He might’ve been like that when Siena wasn’t in the picture, but things had changed, and he didn’t want her to grow up without a dad. “Listen, I don’t have that long, and I’m not going to apologize to you over the phone-but in case anything happens to me-”

“Don’t say that!” Serena spoke, worried. Christian knew that it sounded like a goodbye, but he needed her

to know how much she meant to him. Just in case something does happen to me

“Please don’t say anything.” Serena interrupted him. “You know what, maybe you should die because that way you won’t be able to dump me.”

“I’m not going to dump you.” Christian clarified. He didn’t even know where those words came from. He knew that if anyone was getting dumped, it would most likely be him-but not Serena.

“Okay, good.” Serena spoke. Christian could hear the happiness in her voice and couldn’t understand how a person could be so forgiving and understanding.

“Okay, good.” Christian repeated. He had hoped for her to end the call, but he could still hear her breathing.

“Fine.”

Christian feared that she was expecting an apology or an explanation for his awful words, but he couldn’t give it to her-not now. It wasn’t the first misunderstanding over the phone, and he didn’t want to have

any more.

“Fine.” Christian sighed. “Can you please hang up the phone?”

“Why?” Serena questioned. “I thought you liked hanging up in my ear.”

Christian laughed at her unexpected answer but was happy to see that she could still joke around. He was happy to know that she was still the same. “Serena.” He spoke, annoyed.

“You’re an idiot.” Serena responded. “But I’m sorry for what I said about Dario.”

“Please hang up the phone.” Christian requested. No matter what would happen, he did not want to have this conversation over the phone.

“You made some…interesting accusations, so aren’t you going to say it back?” Serena spoke nervously. Christian felt terrible and wanted to apologize, but he couldn’t find the words. “We’ll discuss this when you get back.”

“But-”

“Please be safe…and I love you.”

“I love you too.” Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

Christian did something Serena couldn’t and ended the phone call.

He could hardly believe that he got off the hook so quickly, considering all the names he had called her.

His thoughts got interrupted by the sound of something big happening downstairs, and his mind went. back to the ice sculpture. It was surprising to him how Carmen and Serena looked alike, but were yet so different. Christian learned that Serena did not like being the center of attention and would never do anything like this.

Christian turned around and sped downstairs to see what was going on. He had to blink a few times when he laid his eyes on all the workers in his home. He had been so stressed out with Serena and Luca’s sudden arrival that he hadn’t paid any attention to it.

He looked at the ice sculpture Dario had mentioned and scoffed in surprise. “Hey, you!” He stopped one
