Chapter 0036
Amara's hand tightened around her steering wheel and she scoffed. She wasn't angered by Fiona's words, but rather irritated. She wasn't going to lose her cool and snap, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to put that entitled sounding bitch in her place. "You-" Amara began, however, just as the first word left her mouth, the sound of another voice from the other end of the line interrupted her.
"Fiona!" The voice belonged to Tobias and he did not sound pleased. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"Brother...it's Amara, she-"
"Shut up," The sound of shuffling was heard from the other end and Fiona yelped. "Amara has nothing to do with this. And didn't I warn you that a mistake like this shouldn't repeat itself?"Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
"But brother...listen to me would you, it's-" Before Fiona could say anymore, the line was cut and Amara found herself looking at her phone with a perplexed expression.
What the fuck just happened?
She thought. One second, Fiona was throwing wild accusations and insults at her and the next second, Tobias was interrupting the call and shutting Fiona up while...taking her side?
Amara found the thought of that nearly impossible after all, in the past, Tobias always took Fiona's side. Each time she and the younger female argued, Tobias always never listened to her side of the story, shutting her up before she could even explain that she had been the one wrong.
But, just now, Tobias had shut Fiona up, something he had never done before, and the fact that he had taken her side, was baffling to Amara.
Because no matter how many times she thought it through, she couldn't bring herself to wrap her head around the sudden change.
Or, had Tobias finally realized that all Fiona had been in the wrong? Had he realized the mistakes he had made years ago?
Nah, Amara shook her head. Tobias was too prideful to realize he had made mistakes.
So, whatever that was back then, Amara couldn't really care about it anymore as she pulled into the parking lot of Synergy and stepped out her car.
Her priority now was getting through
her first week of work, snagging that deal with Gemini Sinclair and proving to those damned executive that she deserves the spot they all shamelessly want to take away from her and she needed to do that in just four days.
As she entered the building, Amara noticed a small group of employees gathered around, talking amongst themselves.
When she went closer, she realized that they were actually listening to someone talk, rather than talking amongst themselves.
"If you doubt what I've just said, just
wait and see, soon, it would be announced that Madam Sinclair has rejected the cooperation with
Synergy all because of that new ne
minx and you'll all have me to thank when I secure the cooperation and have that bitch kicked out
After hearing the words, Amara didn't have to think twice before she figured out who the person speaking was.
"Jasper Reynolds." The crowd
flinched and quickly patted at the sound of Amara's voice and lo and behold, in the center of them all, proudly gloating about shit, stood the one Executive who had given her
several death glares, Jasper.
As soon as their eyes met, Jasper looked like he had swallowed an electric eel. He paled from head to toe, even going as far as to shrink back a little when Amara confidently stepped forward. "You seem to have an awful lot to say about me, so early in the morning. Go on," She demanded. "I'm listening and I want to hear all and everything single thing you have to say about me, Jasper Reynolds."
