Chapter 3143
"Darling, I'm not talking about you."
"Lucas is someone's baby, too. If his mom learns that someone is looking down on him, she'll be devastated."
"I'm sorry for being so prejudiced," Avery said guiltily.
"I don't blame you for it, Mom. You guys haven't met Lucas in person yet, so being prejudiced is normal. If some guy came along one day wanting to take my daughter away from me, I would also be on guard." Ivy swiftly regained her composure.
Avery smiled. "Indeed. It's quite hard for me to be fair with him."
"If he refuses to come to Aryadelle with me, I won't be with him," Ivy promised. "Don't worry. I will never leave you and Dad."
Avery nodded with a beaming smile.
After checking the room, she took Ivy's hand and said, "Let me show you where we store the gifts."
"Gifts?"
"The gifts for guests," Avery explained. "The gifts this time are quite creative."
"I saw the pictures. There's a picture of my brother, Shelly, and their two kids in the souvenir box. The design of the box is really beautiful."
"Yes. Robert designed it. The gifts inside are mostly sponsored by your sister."
Ivy laughed. "Haha! What's in there?"
"There are candies, aromatherapy oil, skincare products, and the like. Each box has a coded card allowing you to claim a new drone model for free at your sister's company. Your big brother gave each of her wedding guests a car during her wedding, after all."
Entering the room where the wedding favors were kept, Ivy picked up a box and opened it. It was quite large. The bottom was lined with dried rose petals when opened, and various small gifts were placed on top. There were more types than her mother had mentioned.
There was a family photo of the four of them with their names signed on it.
"Ivy, why don't you return to Taronial after Hayden's wedding?" Avery suggested. "It seems odd for you to spend Thanksgiving here, go back to Taronia, and then come home again for your brother's wedding
"When is Hayden's wedding?"© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
"It'll probably be on the seventh of October. Your father consulted a fortune teller, and that day is considered a lucky date," Avery replied with a smile.
Ivy could not help but chuckle. "Dad actually believes in that?"
"I was surprised, too. He never believed in this sort of thing before."
Elliot cleared his throat. "The main reason is that having the wedding on October the first might be a bit rushed."
"All right. I'll go back to Taronia after the wedding."
Once Ivy made her promise, she settled in for the night.
That evening, Shelly arrived on the island with the two children and her mother Avery and Shelly's mother were in charge of the twins, and when Shelly had some free time, she visited Ivy's room.
"Shelly, why isn't Hayden here?"
"He's been quite busy with work lately. He wants to wrap everything up before the wedding so he can take a month off afterward." Shelly's eyes lit up with excitement at the thought of her honeymoon. "Your brother is particularly worried about you! None of us know much about Lucas, and he's afraid you might start fighting with your own family because of him."
"I know, Shelly. I'm well aware of my limits."
"That's good to hear. If Lucas doesn't pass your brother's assessment, please don't hold a grudge against Hayden."
"How could I? I like Lucas, but I like my brother more!" Ivy finished, and Shelly breathed a sigh of relief.
