His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 277

Before Casper headed back to Falconridge, he met up with Eliza one last time. He didn't say a word and just watched her, noticing how she avoided his gaze.

She was always the quiet type. Around Casper, she barely felt like talking.

They sat in silence for almost an hour before she finally spoke, her voice shaky with nerves. "When... when are you going back to Falconridge?" "Tomorrow."

"Okay." She didn't seem to mind. She had everything in Oak Falls sorted out. She planned to go back with Brock, but she wasn't sure if Casper would accept him. The idea of Casper acting like Aaron scared her; she couldn't bear to think about what kind of future awaited her child.

"Can I bring my son with me? Don't worry, I won't need you to cover any expenses," she said, gathering all her courage.

He watched her, complicated emotions flickering in his eyes before he chuckled lightly. "I'm not so low as to separate a mother from her child."

Lately, he'd been questioning the point of using this situation to bring her back to him. He didn't want her to return grudgingly, resenting being by his side. That would just drag them back into the same old mess of pain and struggle.

She hadn't really moved on from their past. He didn't want to repeat those mistakes. He'd rather let her go.

"Eliza," he said, more seriously than ever, locking eyes with her somewhat detached gaze. "You don't have to come back to Falconridge with me. Let's just say... I was doing a good deed."

"Why?" This wasn't like Casper. At least, the Casper she knew wasn't this forgiving.

"It's pointless."

She couldn't grasp what Casper found 'pointless.' Was he tired of tormenting her? Was he done with his games and ready to start fresh with someone else?

Suddenly, she felt a bit lucky. "If you find it pointless, I'll respect your wishes, Mr. Casper."

'Mr. Casper?' She was really good at putting distance between them. He hated her deliberate coldness.

a mocking grin. "Then come back to Falconridge with me. I take back whabl said; I find it quite interesting."

"But you just said..."

"I've changed my mind." He arched an eyebrow playfully.

Eliza was at a loss. Was he being erratic again? Just when she thought he had changed, he was back to his old ways, as unpredictable as ever. Eliza had no other choice. She and Brock went back to Falconridge with Casper.

The familiar Welton Estate loomed before them. She wasn't a stranger

to this place, but her heart was filled with dread. This estate held too many painful memories.

heart-wrenching stories of the past. Every step she took felt like walking on shards of those memories, sharp and cold, piercing her heart.

Eliza took a deep breath, trying to push those unpleasant memories down.

Brock seemed tense in this new, unfamiliar home. He clutched Eliza's neck tightly, his face full of confusion and unease. "Mommy, where are we?"

Eliza gently stroked his head, her voice soft. "Mommy found a new job, and we'll be living here from now on, okay?"

Brock nodded, clinging to Eliza. "Mommy, it'll be hard for you."

Eliza knew he was saying she had it rough, a warm feeling flooding her heart. I'm not going to have a hard time As long as I'm with you everything is worth it."
