Chapter 684 Fatherless B*stard
“Mr. Damazio, someone is looking for you. They wanted to talk about a collaboration.”
“Did they make an appointment?” Slevin saw the look on his assistant and noticed something was off.
“What’s wrong?”
“They… are from Azure Corporation.”
Slevin’s face changed drastically. “I can’t believe it. They dared to come here. But kudos to them for holding out for four years.”
He stared at Elspeth who had a confused expression and gently urged her, “Why don’t you wait for me downstairs? Give me ten minutes. I’ll pick up Dami with you.”
Slevin gestured for ten minutes with his hands and Elspeth nodded. She knew he was busy with work and didn’t want to disturb him.
“Actually, I can go pick him up myself.”
“That won’t do. Dami said he wanted to see me. I have to be there.”
Left without a choice, Elspeth simply nodded. “Alright. I’ll wait for you downstairs.”
Then, Slevin smiled as he passed the car keys to her. “It’s quite hot today. Wait for me in the car.”
After she left, the smile on his face disappeared instantly.
“Let’s go. Let’s see what they want.”
Slevin arrived at the reception room and was surprised to see Harper sitting on the couch. “Mr. Summerfield, what brought you here?”
Harper looked at him with suspicion.
“I don’t understand. Why did you suddenly decide to go abroad four years ago? Besides, you even turned me away for two whole years.”
Slevin poured him a cup of tea before saying in resignation, “Mr. Summerfield, I don’t understand why you refuse to leave me alone. I came here because my company is here. Should I have stayed in the country?”
“Then, why have you turned down all those appointments?” Harper felt that Slevin was doing something behind his back and there was a high chance it had something to do with Elspeth’s disappearance.
Slevin then sat down and leisurely crossed his legs with a nonchalant look on his face.
“How could you say that? It’s just that you’ve been making things difficult for me as you keep insisting on barging into my office. There are even rumors circulating in my company that I’m gay.”
Harper’s face darkened immediately. “I’m not interested!”
“Of course, I know that. But you can’t stop the mouths of the public. I can’t stop every rumor that goes around.” Slevin took a sip of the tea and discovered his tea-making skills had improved. He narrowed his eyes in satisfaction. “Well, I’m here now, aren’t I? Here’s your chance to talk things out. Tell me precisely what you are here for.”
Then, Harper took out a document from his bag and placed it on the table. “I’m not here to ask about Elspeth this time. I’m here for a collaboration.”
Slevin raised a brow. “When your boss was around, you guys refused to work with me. Now that she’s gone, you intend to go against her wishes? Aren’t you afraid that she will be upset?”
A hint of sadness flashed across Harper’s eyes at the mention of Elspeth.
He had never given up looking for her for the past four years. Unfortunately, there was no sign of her no matter where he looked.
It was as if she disappeared into thin air.
Regardless, Harper had a hunch that this had to do with Slevin. His gut was telling him that Slevin was definitely in on this.
“It’s okay. She won’t mind,” Harper said coldly.
Harper’s intention was so obvious that even Slevin knew what he was thinking about.
Harper wanted to use the collaboration as an excuse to stay there for longer. Then, he could spy on Slevin to see if he had any contact with Elspeth.
Still, Slevin wasn’t going to let that happen.
“I’m sorry, but I have no plans to work with you at the moment.” Slevin took a look at his wristwatch. Their conversation had taken five minutes more than his initial approximation of ten minutes. He frowned and had lost all desire to continue the conversation.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now. I have something urgent to attend to.”
Harper wanted to stop him but relented when he saw the frown on Slevin’s face.
“Okay. I’ll come again.”
Slevin calmly watched him leave before grabbing his jacket and running downstairs.
The car parked downstairs had already left. Then, a message came through his phone.
Slevin opened his phone to see that it was Elspeth who sent it. ‘It’s getting late. I’m afraid it’ll be too late. I’ll be picking him up.’
There were also two smiley faces at the end.
Slevin’s face warmed at that, but he still decided to go when he recalled what Damian told him.
Then, Harper took out a document from his bag and placed it on the table. “I’m not here to ask about Elspeth this time. I’m here for a collaboration.”
It was unclear why Elspeth insisted on enrolling Damian in a Charish kindergarten. The children who attended the kindergarten were all from Charic.
She couldn’t really explain it herself. It could be her attachment to her home country, and she didn’t want Damian to miss out on that.
When she first woke up and realized that she had lost her memories, she had to rely on Slevin to tell her everything.
He told her that she was an exceptional person with a tragic fate. An accident took the lives of all the people around her, including the father of the child in her stomach.
To her surprise, she didn’t feel an ounce of sadness. There was a high possibility that it was due to amnesia.
Nonetheless, her gut told her that things weren’t as Slevin claimed it to be. Still, he was the only person she could rely on and she didn’t have reason to suspect him just yet.
Slevin said that he was her husband’s good friend and that he could take good care of her. He wished that she would deliver the baby safely.
So, Elspeth just figured he was a kind person. That was why she wasn’t as guarded as she was supposed to be when it came to Slevin. It definitely helped that he had treated her well since day one.
At that moment, she arrived at the entrance of the kindergarten.
She got out of the car and the surrounding gazes instantly gathered on her as her beauty was worthy of it.
There were some foreigners there who had never seen such a beautiful woman with Charic features. They couldn’t take their eyes off Elspeth and earned themselves a knuckle to their head.
The teacher standing at the entrance smiled as she saw Elspeth walking toward her. “You must be Damian’s mother. He’s been good today. I’ll lead you to him.”
Damian was extremely obedient. Ever since he was born, Elspeth realized that he was calmer, and far more patient as compared to other children.
Elspeth smiled in return at the teacher and walked to the classroom with her. Yet, she heard chaotic shouting coming from inside as she arrived at the door.
“Whom did you say doesn’t have a father?”
“You! B*stard!”
Elspeth’s heart sank when she heard that. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
