No longer pure
Dante took a step in her direction. Jenica’s lips curled into a little smile as she sipped a bit of wine and stared at the man’s dark gaze.
“It’s your scheme,” Dante stated as he approached her.
She set the goblet on the table and looked Dante in the eyes. “What are you saying? I don’t understand.”
“What the hell, woman!” he exclaimed as he pressed his lips together. “Soon I’ll rip that smile from your lips!” he said as he walked away.
Jenica shook her head to the right, her lips curled once again. Her assistant was the one she delegated the task of hacking into the hotel’s security system in order to place Gia’s naked images. Good luck with the security personnel in tracing the instigator.
Gia’s father soon returned to the stage. “Everyone, we found out the culprit. We’ll impose proper discipline and ask every media to properly choose what content you’ll publish later.”
Mr. Antonette’s threat effectively quiet the visitors. Jenica laughed. She knew this was going to happen. Fuego alone had the power to threaten the media, and now that Antonete has ties to the strong clan, they can easily dominate the media. Of course, not every media outlet can prevent rumor, right?
For instance, the social media.
Her assistant shared the content of the projector photos on social media a while ago, and she anticipates the post to trend later, especially given Gia’s celebrity. She’s also grateful that Gia is an influencer; otherwise, spreading that post would be difficult.
“What the h*ll is this? Miss Gia’s n*de photos are trending number one on social media? My gosh, they’re insane!” said the woman across from her table, her gaze fixed on her phone.
“Who spread those pictures? Good luck to them.”
“Look, Miss Gia’s photos are on social media. Tsk. Her name is ruined. What a shame for Miss Gia.”
“Half of her fans believe what is written in social media!”
While Jenica was enjoying the good show, the entire hall was in disarray. Her phone suddenly vibrated, and she quietly answered the assistant’s call.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
“Agent J, someone tried to trace the IP address but I blocked that person. I’m afraid, a professional is within the vicinity.”
Jenica pursed her lips and lifted her brow. “Is it one of Jared’s men?” she said quietly.
“With its style of attack, I’m afraid it’s not from Jared’s men.”
She averted her gaze. “Alright.”
Professional?
Her assistant’s ability to hack security protocols was not trivial, but then, that person called to let her know that professional’s skill is not to be underestimated. It just means that there is someone inside the hall, or behind Fuego and Antonete, who can match up to her ‘agent’ skills when it comes to hacking.
Her lips formed a line. Who is he or she?
When Jenica’s gaze met Alex’s, she blinked. The man had been staring at her the entire time, and she had only just realized it. She reprimanded herself in private. She was dubbed the organization’s top agent, but she didn’t notice that someone was staring at her, and it was even her husband?
Or perhaps, subconsciously, she felt comfortable with Alex, which is why her body ignored his stare, knowing that he would not attack her in any way?
This is not a good sign.
Jenica moved and attempted to walk out of the hall, but Alex was faster. When she was about to reach the heavily guarded massive doors, the man caught her wrist.
“Where are you going?” Alex asked, his mouth near to her ear.
“Get your hands off,” she warned, slapping his hand.
However, she unintentionally grazed Alex’s side wound. The man winced, and his face grew pale. Alex was drenched in cold sweat.
Jenica’s pupils dilated. “What’s the problem?” she inquired, instantly grabbing his arm and assisting him in standing.
She then realized that Alex had just been released from the hospital, and that the wound might not have healed entirely. She had forgotten about that aspect because Alex seemed powerful for someone who had almost lost his life a few days before.
Someone suddenly grabbed her hand and shoved her to the ground. She lost her footing but quickly gripped the table and stood tall, gazing sternly at the woman who had shoved her.
Gia was staring at her with a murderous desire. Jenica raised her brow.
She expected Gia to embarrass herself in front of the audience again, but the woman instead turned to Alex. “Honey, I’m sorry. I let her hurt you. Your wound is yet to get healed but there are girls who are really restless and want to climb onto your bed. Look, you’re pale. It’s my fault for being too kind to her. I thought she knew her limits but I didn’t expect her to hurt you.”
Jenica could sense the hostile eyes directed at her by the people present. She squinted and averted her gaze. Gia said those words to make people think negatively of her. Huh. She’ll see to it that Gia pays up this debt soon!
“It’s you again?!” exclaimed one of Alex’s cousins. Jenica looked at the girl with the spectacles. That was the female who entered the male dressing room earlier with Gia and insulted her. “You desperate loser! Kuya Alex doesn’t like you but you always run after him and do everything to get his attention. Seriously? There are other single men out there that you can flirt with. Don’t disturb Kuya Alex’s life!”
Before Jenica could respond, she heard the guests murmur, “Too bad, she’s pretty but flirtatious. It’s Mr. Fuego’s engagement party, but she’s not ashamed to show her true colors.”
“Don’t be surprised. There are women who can’t live without a man’s touch,” one of the guests replied.
And many more derogatory remarks were directed at her. Jenica’s expression darkened even more as she noticed Robert behind the guests who were staring at her strangely. Surely, he didn’t recognize her, but Jenica hadn’t expected him to be so gullible.
Jenica scowled. She was suddenly the center of attention, and Gia had escaped the guests’ scrutiny. Good. Very good. How easy it would be for that vile woman to turn the tables around!
Alex abruptly said, “I want to see who’s bold enough to stay!”
Two massive doors suddenly opened. The visitors hurried out of the hall, leaving the members of the Fuego and Antonete clans behind; even Jenica stood quietly to the side.
“Alexander, what’s this? Who plotted against our family?!” the lady of Fuego asked in exhaustion. The elderly lady was unconcerned about Jenica, who sat peacefully on the side.
“Grandma, I’ll look into it,” Alex answered, asking his cousin to accompany the elderly woman to her hotel room.
Alex was approached by Gia’s father. Mr. Antonete lowered his head in front of Alex, saying, “Thank you for forgiving my daughter’s ignorance, Mr. Fuego. I’ll remember this favor.”
Alex scowled. “Teach your daughter to behave or she’ll go home with missing limbs, Mr. Antonete.”
“Yes, yes…”
The Fuego and Antonete families exited the hall one by one, especially after seeing Alex’s grim face. Gia paused for a while, but her father drew her away.
“So… you found the suspect?” Jenica inquired. She had noticed the Antonete and Fuego clan members’ scrutinizing gazes earlier when they observed her sitting calmly on the side with no plans to go out, but she didn’t seem to mind.
Alex muttered. “That hotel crew’s just a scapegoat. Someone is behind all of this.”
When she heard him speak those words, the corner of her mouth twitched. Her husband’s brain had to be wired differently. She could figure out anyone but him.
Jenica became aware of footsteps behind her. When she peered behind her, she noticed Dante Antonete approaching her with a gloomy face. Her brow furrowed and the corner of her mouth curled up. The threat from the man was still fresh in her memory.
“Mr. Fuego, are you still with this woman?” Dante asked, stepping in front of her and obstructing her view of Alex.
“You haven’t learned your lesson, Antonete?” her husband questioned, approaching Jenica and reaching out to take her hand.
Jenica smiled mischievously and pulled her hand out of Alex’s grasp. She gazed at Dante with a squint and a smile.
Dante frowned and said, “You should not associate yourself with this kind of woman, Mr. Fuego.”
“Oh?” Jenica lifted her brows and looked at Dante. “What kind of woman am I?” she inquired, a little resentful.
When Alex reached for her hand again, she did not move and allowed him to hold it. Dante’s expression darkened even more when he saw how she acted. Jenica noticed him tightening his fist. So… Does he have a sister complex?
Jenica laughed at the idea.
“Mr. Fuego, my sister is more decent than this woman who’s flirting with you and your cousin Robert! You should choose your woman according to your status,” Dante went on to say.
Jenica burst out laughing. “Decent? You mean Gia Antonete?” she giggled, slapping Alex’s hand away and frowning at both Alex and Dante.
“If I’m not mistaken… her naked body was seen by everyone inside the hall,” she sighed purposefully. “It’s unfortunate for a beautiful face like hers, but men might have obtained a copy of her n*des and, well, love Gia’s naked body. Mr. Antonete, your sister’s no longer pure and decent. Do you think the same, Mr. Fuego?” she questioned, turning to Alex with a threatening look.
