showing. I had also changed back inserted my old sim card back into my phone and had decided to call
Hawa later in the day,I hadn't been able to reach her in a while. I was super excited that mother was
coming tomorrow and I just couldn't wait for tomorrow to be here so I could see her.
Thinking about how I thought marriage will be and how it is, I really didn't expect it to be this way,
mother told me about compromises I guess, she told me that sometimes you would have to do things
you don't want to because that's what your partner wants. She didn't say so much about the other
parts. She always tried to say the little she felt I should know just like how every african mother would.
No one prepare me for a lot of things and it's not like i blame her because that's probably what her
mother, my grandmother also did so it was always just like that. But i hoped to be different with my girl
child, i will tell her everything she needs to know and always have the hard conversations with her and
not trying to shy away from it. I respect mother so much especially after all the sacrifices she made for I
and my sister, I keep looking up to her and I hope one day I will be half the woman she was because
she is magnificent.
I realized the water I had in my bottle had finished and as I tried standing to get another one, I felt this
very sharp pain in my tummy, it was sudden, sharp and was all over my tummy. I tried standing up
straight but I couldn't becauseI was in so much pain. Ridwan had locked me in so there was no wat I
could call our neighbours. I was in so much pain that water had started to drip down my eyes.
I tried teaching for my phone which was on the table and tried calling Ridwan but his number wasn't
going through and then I became even more scared and my heart was already beating so fast because
I couldn't think of what else to do.
Then I immediately thought of calling Hawa since I now had my phone, she was the only other person I
knew well in Abuja.
I dialled her number and she picked on the second dial.
"Hello" I said in a very low tone and as Hawa was still trying to talk about where I had been and how
she hadn't seen me since, I cut her off
"Help me Hawa, please help me" I said then the phone dropped from my hand. I fell on the ground and
now my eyes were beginning to close gently then I suddenly saw blood dripping down my cloth. Few
minutes later before I heard banging on the door I had almost passed out. There was no way Hawa
could open the door, I think she had later gotten some people to help break down the door after several
minutes and when she was finally able to enter, I was on the floor and the last thing I heard was
Hawa's continuous yell of " Tes!!"
