Chapter 14 Rejoice Too Soon
Chapter 14 Rejoice Too Soon
Sadie narrowed her eyes slightly and held her head high. She looked frankly at Julian, who was
walking towards her slowly, "What a coincidence! I was just going to look for you."
"Are you deciding to pledge to marry me?" Julian stopped a step away from her and looked at her with
a smirk.
"Nuts!" Sadie lowered her eyes and said with a cold face, "Please come with me to the Merchants Bank
if you have time. By the way, bring the title deeds of the orphanage with you."
With that, she didn't even look at him, and lifted her feet and walked out.
Julian pursed his lips and turned around.
When he sat back in the car, he saw that she did not seem to want to get into the car, he could not help
but smile. He instructed Khalid to drive the car over.
"Lady Sadie has changed a lot." Khalid also saw the expression on Sadie's face.
She still looked familiar without looking at the left side of her face, only her nature had changed a lot.
She had become a bit stern, and a bit naive and ignorant of her age. It was true that she was much
more interesting than before. No wonder Mr. Mccarthy was not in a hurry to force her.
Khalid turned the Rolls-Royce around and drove it slowly to a stop next to Sadie.
Julian lowered the window and said in a light tone. "Get in. I won't charge you for the ride."
"Thanks, no." Sadie gave him a contemptuous look and struck out with her bag.
Julian was stunned. In the next instant, a series of low, pleasant, soft laughter emanated from his
throat.
She still had her pride. He wondered if she could still be so calm to refuse him after she heard the bad
news one after another.
There were four major state-owned banks near the hospital, but only no Merchants Bank. She had to
walk a long way to get to a branch. Julian got off the car, showed his black card to the lobby manager,
and was immediately invited to the VIP room.
Meanwhile, the manager of the branch had received a call and was on his way from the head office.
Julian settled down gracefully and held the CHATELDON he brought down from the car, taking a sip
every now and then.
The branch's lobby manager originally made the tea, but when she saw the bottle in his hand, she had
to silently carry it out, put it down, and go in empty-handed.
That mineral water was so expensive that a bottle could buy a large bag of tea.
"Mr. Mccarthy, what business do you want to run this time?" The lobby manager looked at Julian with
alarm, and her heart was pounding.
He came here in person, and not to the head office but to the branch. He was not going to transfer the
money from DHG Group, was he?
"A personal matter," Julian explained politely. Although there was no smile on his face, his friendliness
could still be felt.
When the lobby manager heard him say that, she couldn't ask any more questions and sat down
awkwardly.
After a while, the branch manager arrived. As soon as he entered, he shook Julian's hand warmly.
Julian responded politely without any impatience on his face.
The branch manager let go of his hand. When he saw that the coffee table was empty, he turned
around and glared at the lobby manager. "How do you work? Is there no tea in the branch?"
Julian raised his hand to look at his watch and said, as if inadvertently, "No need to be polite. The
customer I'm waiting for will probably arrive in a few minutes. The tea she made just now smells good,
but unfortunately, I am not feeling well these two days."
The lobby manager coughed lightly in embarrassment, and her heart was full of gratitude.
Hearing that, the branch manager smiled, and could not say anything else. Then he pulled the lobby
manager out together.
Both of them could not understand how Julian suddenly appeared here, so they did not dare to go far.
The lobby manager slightly inclined her head and stole a glance at Julian in the reception room, then
pursed her lips unconsciously.
Julian was the bank's black card customer. Even the bank president had to be polite to him when he
came.
It was said that the president of DHG Group was extremely mysterious and aloof. But she found him
extremely well educated and friendly. If he hadn't helped explain just now, her bonus and salary would
probably have been deducted this month.
After about ten minutes, a tall girl came in outside the branch door. She had shoulder-length hair. The
dark, shiny hair fell down, almost completely covering the left side of her face and revealing the right
side of her face, which was as fine as white porcelain.
She was wearing a white half-sleeve cotton shirt with blue pencil pants underneath and a pair of white
cloth shoes on her feet, looking refreshing.
Seeing Julian's assistant greeting her, the lobby manager and branch manager glanced at each other
and left in silence.
Julian was a VIP user and it was a personal matter he was running. So it was not a good idea for them
to stay.
Sadie was led into the VIP room by Khalid. She saw Julian lazily leaning on the sofa. At once, she
furrowed. "Where's the title deed? I'll transfer money to your account as soon as I see it."
Julian picked up the water, gracefully unscrewed the cap, and tilted his head to take a sip. Then he
looked at Khalid with a smile. "Show it to her."
Khalid nodded slightly, looked down, and opened his briefcase, taking out the title deeds and IOU
contained inside.
Sadie glared at Julian and reached out to take them, looking them over.
It really was the title deed to the orphanage, and the IOU was in Dean Esme's handwriting. She
recognized it.
After returning the items, Sadie looked down and opened her bag, pulling out the card Otto had given
her. She snapped, "What's your company's account number? I'll transfer money to you right now."
Julian took another sip of water and looked over at Khalid without saying a word.
Khalid took the hint and nodded. He went out and invited the manager of the branch in and briefly
explained the situation.
"Miss Chambers, please come this way." The branch manager smiled and invited Sadie to the VIP
counter, "Just wait a few minutes. It will be done soon."
"Thanks." Sadie thanked him politely and put her card into the small window in front of the counter.
When she followed the procedure and entered the password, the teller’s face changed. She whispered
to her for confirmation. "Miss Chambers, are you sure this is the right card?"
There was no money on the card, not a cent.
"Let me see." Sadie was stunned. She took the card back in disbelief.
It was the right card. Otto had only given her one card, and it was from this bank. She handed the card
to the teller again, and her palms were damp. Her heart was beating so fast she felt like it was going to
burst out of her chest.
As she waited for the teller to recheck her balance, she slowly calmed down. She remembered that she
had taken a picture when she checked at the ATM in the morning, so she hurried to take her phone out.
The money was still in the account in the morning. It was only a few hours later. It didn't make sense
that the card would be stolen, right?
The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became. Just as she found the photo she had
taken this morning, the teller's polite voice sounded again. "Miss Chambers, I just double-checked the
change of funds in the account and found that the money had been transferred back to the parent
account at noon. Would you like to reconfirm with this Mr. Newman?"
Sadie swallowed the words that were on her lips and shook her head mechanically.
She didn't hear a word the teller said. Then she took the card back and ran out of the bank in disarray.
Otto had transferred money to the card through his company account. Probably because his father NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
found out, or for some other reason, the money was transferred back to his, leaving her to rejoice in
vain.
Lifting her head, she closed her eyes hard and walked toward the catwalk at a fast pace.
"Miss Chambers," Khalid trotted to keep up with her. He called politely to her and handed over his cell
phone. "Mr. Mccarthy has something to tell you."
