Chapter 327: The irrational man
Cloud Cit International Airport.
As soon as the car stopped, Allyce quickly opened the door and walked with quick feet towards the airport exit.
Severo followed her with a frown, his voice twitching, and took two steps forward to pull her back: “Walk slowly.
“Uncle is already here, hurry up!”
Allyce pulled him straight into the race, complaining to him as he ran: “I told you to get out early, traffic’s backed up”.
He stopped to pick up the phone and heard Desiderio’s voice on the other end of the line: “Allyce, I see you, don’t bother to come, I’ll come”.
With that, he simply hung up the phone.
Allyce stopped and looked around, but there was no one in sight.
It was a few minutes before Desiderio, with his men in tow, came into view.
“Uncle”.
Allyce let go of Severo and went over to greet him.
Desiderio nodded slightly with a kind face, and then his eyes fell on Severo behind her.
However, he did not take a good look at Severo.
Desiderio just looked at Severo coldly and averted his gaze.
Severo hesitated for a moment before slowly pronouncing, “Señor Alvidrez”.
Ask him to call a man only a few years older than him uncle?
It was not impossible.
Only Desiderio’s expression was clearly one of reluctance.
Desiderio sniffed, tugging slightly at the corners of his lips, a smile lurking at the corners of his mouth: “Señor Betances, I’ve heard a lot about you.
Severo’s eyes flickered slightly: “Monsieur Alvidrez, you are welcome.
Allyce also sensed that the atmosphere between the two men was not right.
“Dude, you must have had a hard time getting off the plane, you should go back and rest.
With that, he took Desiderio’s arm and walked in front of him.
Severo watched his back with a cold face and stood still.
Allyce looked back at him as if she sensed something and smiled ingratiatingly.
Severo’s tense face broke down for a moment and, though still reluctant, he followed.
…
As Desiderio had a house in Cloud City, they went there first when they returned to the city.
Allyce was going to follow them too, but Desiderio refused.
Desiderio looked at Severo before turning his head to Allyce, “I’m a bit tired and I want to rest first, you come back and we’ll have dinner tonight”.
Desiderio was a man of his word, with a kind face, but he always acted and spoke forcefully.
Allyce nodded, “Yes, I’ll see you tonight then”.
Only after seeing Desiderio’s car leave did Allyce get back in the car with Severo.
On the way back, Severo did not say a word on his own.
And when Allyce spoke to him, he didn’t pay much attention either.
Allyce gave him a contemptuous and mean look.
…
The dinner was at Kimdis.
Desiderio was already there when Allyce and Severo arrived.
He was a very punctual man.
Allyce was a little embarrassed to see that Desiderio had arrived before them. “Uncle!
Desiderio had put on a grey suit and had a slight smile on his forehead.
Because of his experience, his whole persona is full of mature charm, and his face wears a casual look that has sharpened over the years, adding a bit of easygoing kindness.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
Severo, however, thought otherwise.
When they were seated, Severo brought the menu to Desiderio: “Monsieur Alvidrez, order”.
Desiderio smiled faintly, picked up the menu and began to order.
The atmosphere was subtle for the rest of the meal.
Halfway through the meal, Severo suddenly spoke up: “Mr Alvídrez is here in Cloud Cit on official business with Moon Culture Media?
Desiderio dined with uncommon grace, slowly chewing his food before saying slowly, “What does Mr. Betances think of that? He has taken my niece, and of course I have come to see what kind of man it is who has taken her.
He left the knife and fork in his hand as he finished the sentence, his kind eyes a little sterner.
Allyce had just taken a sip of her juice and almost choked at Desiderio’s words.
Desiderio had always seemed to her a perfect and wonderful man who never meddled too much in her affairs.
I didn’t expect him to say such things directly.
“Dude, this thing …”
Desiderio turned his eyes towards her, and there was a rare sternness in his voice: “Don’t interfere when men are talking”.
She was actually trying to say that if he really wanted to haunt the past, then she had also done something wrong.
At least he had not taken the initiative to talk to Desiderio about it.
Severo, unhappy with Desiderio’s tone towards Allyce, took Allyce’s hand sideways and whispered, “Have you had enough to eat? Go to Xabat’s house and check on Carne.
When they arrived, they brought Beef with them.
However, as it was a meal with Desiderio and he was an extremely particular person, he had put Beef at Xabat’s house.
Allyce sniffed, turned her head to look at Desiderio and, seeing that he had no intention of speaking, got up and left.
Leave room for these two men.
There shouldn’t be … a fight, should there?
Allyce left with an uneasy feeling.
…
There was silence in the box.
Desiderio spoke first, preemptively: “Mr. Betances is quite casual when it comes to getting married”.
Severo tensed a face with a tinge of patience in his expression and his tone was his usual cold one: “I’m very serious about Allyce”.
“Serious enough that you didn’t know she was pregnant and were engaged to another woman while she was grieving for the baby she lost, I don’t think you’re very serious.”
There was disdain in Desiderio’s tone.
Severo’s hands, which were under the table, involuntarily clenched into fists.
Desiderio’s words were hard to hear, but they were true.
“I can’t change what has happened, but I will treat her well in the future”. There was an imperceptible hint of solemnity in Severo’s tone.
Although I still wasn’t sure whether Desiderio was sincere or not about Allyce, he was still Allyce’s eldest.
Allyce also respected him.
Desiderio’s eyes shone with a different light, too quick to be noticed.
He spoke slowly: “Then we’ll see”.
…
Allyce led Beef to the door of the box.
I was about to push open the door when it opened from the inside.
Allyce looked at Severo, tilted his head inwards and asked: “Where is my uncle?
“He’s gone.” said Severo, kicking Beef, who was pouncing on him, away in one smooth motion.
There was a slight growl in Allyce’s tone: “Why didn’t you tell me he’d gone?
Severo snorted, “What’s a big man like him coming home to tell you? Are you afraid he’ll get lost?”
Allyce: “…”
