Chapter 34
Chapter 34
The three of them stayed at the horse ranch for the whole afternoon and left in the evening. Jonathan
first dropped Estelle off at the University of J City.
Originally, Estelle lost the fishing bet and had to treat everyone to dinner, but since Jonathan had
something to deal with in the evening, they agreed to reschedule.
On the way, Estelle and Henson talked about their experiences at the horse ranch.
Jonathan drove in silence, unaffected by the chatter emanating from the backseat. Rather, he found it
oddly comforting, the sound providing a sense of solace.
When the car stopped at the gates of the University of J City, Estelle said goodbye to the guys and got
out.
As she walked towards the entrance, a boy dressed in sportswear yelled her name and ran towards
her, excitedly.
Henson’s eyes widened in surprise. “Isn’t that the guy we met at the horse ranch? Are they already
planning to meet again so soon?”
He couldn’t help but feel disappointed, thinking that Estelle was falling in love and would turn into an
idiot like his sister.
Jonathan didn’t turn the steering wheel right away, watching as Estelle and the boy walked together,
talking about something. Then, the boy took out a cake, and Estelle accepted it…
Jonathan watched the two figures standing together, smiling. This was the kind of romance Estelle
should be experiencing at her age. He turned his gaze away, turned the steering wheel, and sped off
quickly.
The guy talking to Estelle was named Chris, and they had met at the horse ranch. It was only after a
brief conversation that they discovered they were both students at the University of J City.
Chris was a third-year foreign language major, studying French. They were working on a project when
Estelle offered him some insight, which solved a problem he’d been struggling with for days.
To express his appreciation, Chris had bought a cake and went to the university hoping to bump into
Estelle. He hadn’t expected to see her so soon.
Estelle accepted the cake as a token of his gratitude, but refused his invitation to dinner. She took the
cake
and headed back to Villa del Sol.
That night, Blue Hawk and Goshawk went online. The mission was complete, and they received the full
12 million. As usual, the three of them split the money.
Estelle urged Goshawk to rest for a while, as they wouldn’t be taking on any new missions anytime
soon.
Over the next week, Estelle prepared for an exam and spent her days in the library after class.
Occasionally, she ran into Chris, the handsome and friendly big guy, who enthusiastically greeted her.
She also saw Norah and Nicolas eating together. Nicolas tenderly helped Norah with her meal and
cleaned. soup from the corner of her mouth. They appeared to be completely in the honeymoon stage
of their relationship.
Estelle hoped that she was overthinking and that Nicolas genuinely didn’t know about the GK Jewelry
studio brand.
Saturday arrived quickly, and Estelle went to the Lamont family house as usual but didn’t meet
Jonathan.
At noon, when Estelle was about to leave, Jonathan came back from outside.
Estelle greeted him first and asked with a smile, “Mr. Lamont, are you available tonight?” This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Jonathan, who was about to go upstairs, stopped and replied coldly, “What’s up?”
The man’s indifference caused Estelle to pause briefly, but she persisted with a gentle smile I lost the
bet when we went fishing together, and if you’re available tonight, I would like to treat you and Henson
to dinner.”
“No need,” the man answered curtly without any explanation, then turned and walked upstairs.
At first, she thought he was simply busy, but realizing his lingering coldness when they met again on
Sunday, she understood that their relationship would always be like this.
She had thought that they had become acquainted, at least enough to greet each other when they met,
but now she knew she’d expected too much.
As usual, she got off at the University of J City entrance and took the bus to Maple Street. Seeing the
dessert shop again, she thought of Emily.
It had been half a month since she last visited the dessert shop.
Estelle took out her phone, found Emily’s number, and called her.
After a while, Emily’s voice finally came through, “Ella?”
Estelle responded with a warm smile, “Why haven’t you visited the dessert shop in such a long time?”
“Ella!” Emily’s voice choked up a bit, “I’ve run into some trouble.”
