Chapter 127
Chapter 127
Chloe's POV
I felt a jolt of electricity surge through me, and a heavy, eerie feeling settled in the air. It was as if pure
darkness and evil had materialized, gradually advancing towards us with unwavering resolve. With
every passing second, the gravity of our situation intensified. We were being pursued by powerful foes
driven by an unquenchable thirst for violence, seeking to wreak havoc and annihilate everything in their
path. The slightest brush of their menacing presence sent a wave of icy fear coursing down my back,
leaving me on high alert, fully conscious of the imminent peril drawing nearer by the moment.
Speaking in urgent hushed tones, I implored Vanessa, "Tell them to pick up the pace. The enemies are
coming nearer... They are closing the gap between us." Vanessa, standing by my side, paled visibly,
swiftly turning to address the other survivors. Her voice trembled as she cried out, "Hey... Quickly!
Everyone, we must hurry! They're gaining on us!" Fear instantly washed over the faces of everyone
present, draining them of color.
I cast a quick glance at the group—forty survivors, predominantly comprised of teenagers, women, and
elderly individuals. Only five of us were sentinels, which meant our progress was sluggish at best.
Gritting my teeth, I made the difficult decision to halt my own frantic run. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
"Vanessa," I hissed, my voice barely audible. "Take them to the cave. I'll try to divert their attention."
"What?! How will you manage that?" Vanessa asked. Surprisingly, her eyes showed me a hint of
genuine concern. Yet, I had no time to dwell on her worries becayse the menacing auras drew ever
closer.
"Hurry! Time is running out!" I urged, giving Vanessa a forceful push. Vanessa's eyes widened gave me
a grave nod. Then, clutching her hands tightly, she uttered with genuine concern, "Stay safe."
My eyes widened before I playfully raised a brow at her. Vanessa's face flushed before she hurriedly
took everyone away.
Escaping with a large group proved to be a daunting challenge. If we failed to divert the enemy's
attention, the inevitable outcome would be our capture and demise.
As the others disappeared from sight, fear gripped my body, trembling in the face of imminent danger.
"Behind me, I sensed the swift movement of our pursuers," I ruminated, a tinge of desperation in my
thoughts. My teeth clenched, and my pounding heart threatened to burst from my chest.
"I suppose I must run... for now," I thought before veering abruptly to the left in a burst of speed,
distancing myself from the rest of the group. However, my fleeting moment of escape was short-lived. I
abruptly halted as I realized the enemies ceased pursuing me and instead set their sights solely on the
others.
"No!" I cried out, recognizing the dire peril that now awaited my comrades. A bone-chilling realization
gripped my entire being.
"Why do you still concern yourself with their well-being?" suddenly, a beautiful voice suddenly
resounded in my mind, freezing my entire body in place. It was Aurora, my wolf, who had remained
silent since our encounter at the hidden entrance. Surprisingly, her voice now carried an air of stability,
and I detected a growing presence within my soul, gradually strengthening with each passing moment.
'Aurora... could it be that she's already cured?' Despite the gravity of the situation, my heart throbbed
with a resounding intensity.
"They are the ones who have repeatedly inflicted harm upon you throughout the years," Aurora spoke
softly, her words laden with undeniable truth.
"One of them was destined to be your mate, yet betrayed you. Another tore us apart, and the third
seized what is rightfully ours. Chloe, you have suffered greatly at their hands. So why do you persist in
saving them when they stand on the brink of death?" Aurora's inquiry pierced my quivering lower lip,
stirring up memories of the agonizing years spent with the Red Moon Pack. The years I have spent
with the Red Moon Pack were filled with nothing but pain, suffering, and betrayal. I had endured
relentless persecution, scraping and crawling for mercy in their hands. On their feet, I repeatedly
crawled and begged for mercy. There were even many times when I thought I was about to die. But…
no one helped me.
The memories entangled my emotions, casting doubt upon my motives. Why, indeed, did I continue to
fight to save them?
Sudednly, a warm sensation blossomed within my heart, the connection to each surviving member of
the Red Moon Pack felt stronger. These invisible threads bound us together, as if I were an integral part
of them and they were an inseparable part of me. Never before had I considered the Red Moon Pack
my home. Yet, as I felt the tug of these interwoven connections within my heart, I gradually realized the
truemeaning the pack held for me.
The Red Moon Pack... it belonged to me.
In that moment, I perceived myself as the head, and the Red Moon Pack as my body. Regardless of
the pain inflicted to me by its members, no amount of betrayal could sever the bond I shared with the
pack. And with that bond came a duty and a responsibility, a duty to protect each and every member.
"I understand..." Aurora's voice echoed through my consciousness. "You have finally realized the true
role you must fulfill."
"Though I may be very late in doing this, as your wolf, let me assist you in accomplishing your mission,"
Aurora's tone softened as she offered her support.
And then, it happened. The familiar sensation I had experienced in the hidden entrance washed over
me once more. A warm, white light materialized above my heart, enveloping my entire being. The
connection with Aurora, my wolf, surged in strength, causing my body to convulse with energy.
"Close your eyes and surrender to me. Trust me and relinquish control. Allow me to share my power
with you," Aurora's majestic voice reverberated throughout my soul. And with her words, my body
underwent a transformation. It elongated, a pristine white fur coating every inch, while my senses
sharpened to an otherworldly degree. Deep within, an untamed power throbbed, threatening to surge
forth. An aura of undeniable authority encased me, capable of compelling others to kneel in reverence.
The power and authority of a true alpha.
My eyes trembled as they fixated upon my majestic white paw. "Aurora..." my voice trembled, tears
welling up in my eyes. "So this is your true form..." I whispered softly, overcome with emotion.
"A powerful white wolf..." I murmured, my smile tinged with melancholy.
"Am I beautiful?" Aurora's inquiry reached my ears. In response, my smile deepened as I nodded
earnestly.
"Yes, truly beautiful."
"However, now is not the time for this," Aurora cautioned.
"Although the poison has been purged, the damage incurred over the years has taken its toll. It will be
a long while before my body and powers fully recover. I can only sustain this form for a few minutes,"
she explained, jolting me back to the present reality, especially as I sensed enemies converging from
all directions, hurtling toward me.
"Our earlier display of power has drawn them closer. If we don't depart immediately, they will surely
seize us," Aurora urgently warned.
"So, Chloe, let us run!" Aurora implored, and for the first time, I sprinted forward, propelled by the body
of my wolf, embracing the power of my true form.
