The brawl
Demelza dashed out of the ball room after Nathan had said those cruel words to her. She knew that she wasn’t rich enough to take down someone like Hampton and that was why she reached out to Nathan.
But she had failed to win him over and worsened her predicament. He was a damn good lawyer and there was no assurance that she would win the case if she went up against him. She was going to lose her father and suffer under the suffocating heat of Hampton.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
As she was running down the hallway, looking for a perfect place to cry out her sorrows, a strong hand pulled her into a dim room. Her mind went berserk when she realized whose scent she had perceived.
It was Hampton. He pinned her to the wall and muffled her mouth from making sounds.
“You stupid whore! Do you think dressing this slutty will get you anywhere?. I told you that you are mine and you won’t be able to escape being my mistress. Unless, you don’t want to see that pathetic father of yours” he strangled her with his other hand as he forcefully kissed her neck, assaulting her with every ounce in him.
“Let go of me… Hampton” she struggled to say as his grip on her neck tightened. She was losing her breath quickly but he didn’t care.
“I will teach you a lesson you whore!” he spat, ripping off the left strip of her dress in order to humiliate her more than he had already done.
Demelza panicked tapping his arms to set her free as she struggled for her dare life. But he smiled wickedly and continued to harass her.
“S… top, I beg you” she stuttered crying from the immense pain she felt from his brutality. Never in her life had she ever suffered this way. She never thought that Hampton could abuse her in such a manner. As she prayed in her mind for someone to show up, the door of the room they were in burst open and her friends rushed in.
They were shocked to see how Hampton was strangling Demelza. And before anyone could say a word, Spencer’s fist clashed into Hampton’s face freeing their friend from his torture.
Demelza fell to the ground all red and green from the grip around her neck. She coughed greatly, breathing in air as she cried in fear. Katherine squatted close to her in a protective manner as she consoled her friend who had managed to survive from the cold hands of death.
Spencer and Hampton were still struggling between themselves on the ground until Nathan walked into the scene.
“Nathan, I want all of them sued. They dare embarrass me in this manner especially that witch.” Hampton cried out but Nathan wasn’t concerned about him as his eyes were on Demelza who was trembling in fear on the ground.
“What the hell happened here?” he asked as his eyes strayed back to Hampton who had received a lot of blows from Spencer.
“Get off me you bastard” he pushed Spencer away when he was less focused and stormed out of the room without regretting what he had done.
“What kind of man did you date Demelza? that bastard would have hurt you badly if we didn’t show up on time” Katherine scolded in worry as she was terrified that such a thing had happened to her dear friend.
“It is a good thing that someone like you came in to see this Mr. Storms. That friend of yours is a complete mad man.” Spencer panted as he looked down at Demelza with pity.
“Gosh, I can’t believe he would do something like this to her. Please Mr. Storms, can you take her home? We have another place to be tonight. We would have loved to take her but…” Katherine tried to say but Demelza interrupted her.
“I don’t need him taking me home, I can go back myself” she mumbled with a teary voice squeezing her face from the pain she was suffering from. Nathan looked at her neck and noticed the finger prints that indicated a serious strangle.
“You don’t have to worry, I will take her home” he firmly declared, disregarding every protest Demelza made.
“Thank you so much, we really appreciate your help. I will come over to your place once I’m done with everything I need to take care of. Hampton will not go freely for this” Kathrine patted her before she and her husband left them alone.
Nathan tried to help her up but she moved away from him and got up on her own. The fact that she had almost been strangled to death by a man traumatized her. She didn’t believe that Hampton could exact such strength on her. For a moment, she really thought that she would die in a miserable way.
As they walked quietly to his car, Nathan didn’t try to question her. He was keeping his distance as he had noticed how dazed and afraid she had become. He didn’t know what happened in detail but one thing he knew for sure was that Hampton had hurt her.
The silence between them lingered and Nathan was growing impatient as he was curious to know how she had gotten the red finger prints on her neck. His eyes couldn’t stop flickering to her as he drove on the road.
“Are you really not going to tell me what transpired between you and Hampton?” Nathan asked, breaking the silence between them. But Demelza was too scared to speak up as she was still traumatized by Hampton’s action.
“I won’t know how to help you if you don’t talk!” Nathan slightly raised his voice and she flinched, panicking the moment he spoke up.
He felt guilty for startling her with his voice but he wasn’t comfortable with her silence either. When Nathan realized that she would not say a word to him, he returned to their normal quietness until he got to her house.
“Miss…,” he tried to say but Demelza had already slammed the door on him and without hesitation, she ran into her house ignoring his very presence.
