Chapter 39

Valerie’s Pov

“Ma’am what’s the matter?” Janet asked in curiosity, I casted a longing glance. She chuckledText © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

softly because she understood the reason why I looked at her that way.

“What did I say about calling me ma’am? Call me Valerie” With these words, I continued

searching for what I had been looking for.

“Perhaps if you tell me what it is that you’re looking for, I might just be able to help” A bell in my

head rang and I wondered why I didn’t ask her to help me look for it in the first place.

“I need a pen and paper” I drummed my fingers nervously. Janet looked at me I’m sorry and a

smirk played on my lips, She blew a frustrated breath and without asking any question, She

went over one of the cupboards bedside my bed stand and brought out a book and a pen and

walked over to me and handed it over.

“Here is it” Janet let out an audible sigh and I flashed a quick smile before I collected the book

and pen and sat on the chair by the table. After a few minutes I stood from the sat and my eyes

glimmered with hope.

“I have written a letter to my parents” I smiled looking at her. I really missed my parents and everyone.” But Valarie you can’t send out the messages. What would you do?” Janet said while I handed her the pen

“I know, since I can’t get to see them, maybe writing to them might help?” I shrugged, folding the paper into half. I went on with my tour around the mansion.

“Take me to the second garden.” Janet nodded. The walk down there was so long. I felt my legs wobble so hard till I got to the garden.

It was so beautiful, the pretty different display of beautiful flowers, the bright blue sky. It was honestly breathtaking. I picked up a sunflower and headed to the large garden swing that was around the corner.

“Do you need anything ma’am? Should I start your lunch?” Janet asked with her head bowed down.

“Yes I think you should start now. I’ll take salt and pepper wings.”

“Anything else?”

“No you may leave.” she left while I sat down admiring the garden all alone. I thought of so many things, how was everyone doing at home, especially how would Andrew feel when he found out. My whole life just scattered immediately I stepped my feets into this prison. I really just want to go back home.

I saw a blue butterfly fly around the garden and it landed on my finger. The calm sensation I felt was so beautiful until I heard little footsteps behind me.

“Why are you sitting down here alone, are you alright?” His deep voice lingered behind me.

“It’s not like your opinion would change about the matter.” I said looking down at the flowers.

“So you’re not gonna tell me?” Carson sat down beside me. “You don’t gotta act all mean in front of me.”

“So you’re saying I’m weak or something?” I asked, looking at him amused. “Let’s not bother ourselves about that, just let me know what’s wrong, you feel sick or something.” He said, grabbing my hand. I felt a warm sensation rush down my blood. I was dumbstruck as to how this man made me feel with just a mere touch.

“I really miss my parents, I really wanna see them and maybe spend some time with them. I wonder how they feel.” I said trying so hard to not get emotional. I was holding it back so hard.

“I’m just trying to protect you honestly.”

“Protect me from what Carson! Being locked up everyday in this big mansion, I’m sure nobody would want that.” I said looking at him.

“If you know how I feel intoxicated in this big mansion, just let me go.” The tears finally left my eyes.

“My little rabbit, I told you you’re not going anywhere, you’re staying here with me and not-” I cut him short

“Just one time Carson let me see my family, please.” I said with tears rolling down my eyes.

He held my chin using his other hand to wipe off my tears. “I hate it when you cry in front of me, you make me look like I’m a bad person. When the time comes you would go, you have to fully re-” he got interrupted by a call. He immediately stood up to answer the phone.

A heavy sigh left my lips as I walked out of the garden. “Wait!” Carson said, walking towards me. “I’ll make arrangements for you to go.”

My cheeks burned red, I felt so happy.” Thank you thank you thank you!!” I said jumping around. I wrapped my hands and him. “Thank you” I whispered as I gave him a hug. Wait what!! I came back to my normal senses and pushed him away from me. Gosh what’s wrong with me!!

Carson chuckled softly walking away. What made me do such a thing? My cheeks burned once again. I heard a little voice besides me

“Valerie, your lunch is ready.”

I quietly ate my lunch in the large dining hall. I couldn’t forget what happened at the garden, how could I give up so easily. If he didn’t say I would give up easily and I did, I wouldn’t be angry, but he said so and I actually did.

“You don’t like the food Valarie?” Janet asked. Very concerned. I think she saw my irritated facial expressions.

“No, no everything is alright.” I gave an honest smile.

Benson walked towards me while I was still having lunch. “Carson said you should get ready before seven.”

“Do you know why he’s taking me out?” I asked confused, where is he taking me to?

“I don’t know if he just said I should tell you that.”

After lunch I went for an evening walk before I freshened up to leave with Carson. Janet picked up a lilac short dress and a gold set that went on well with the dress. I wore the dress and waited for Carson’s orders.

I waited for a long while and I received nothing, Janet came back to the room to check up on me. “Is Carson not yet back?” I was to meet my parents tonight. Where is he?

“No Valarie.” She said with a faint smile. I excused Janet, still wondering where he was. I laid on my bed, I didn’t even know the time, nothing. I went downstairs to have a little dinner. He wasn’t back up till now. Was he just playing with my feelings? Or he just wanted to trick me about the incident that happened. I felt so hurt, I hardly finished anything on my plate and I walked up to my room. I eventually slept off with all the thoughts flowing through my mind.

I was awakened by a little knock. I tossed my pillow over my face, in the dead of the night. “Who is it?” I said grumbling in my sleepy voice.

“ma’am it’s Janet.” Why is she here again?

“Come in.” I said hearing the creaking sounds of the door indicating she entered my room.

“Good morning ma’am.” She said bowing down.

“It’s already morning?” I said sitting up right looking around.

“Yes ma’am.” She said, looking at me while she replied politely.

I had a big streach. Even till now Carson was still on my mind. “Is Carson back?”

“No ma’am.”

“Alright.” It’s been three days now and he’s not yet back home, what’s wrong? What if he got kidnapped. Nah he’s a big boy. But still he can still be kidnapped. Valarie calm down.

“My little rabbit.”

“Huh.”
