Chapter 62 I'm A Man
Chapter 62 I'm A Man
She cut open the expensive white shirt and revealed the bleeding wound beneath. Luz's heart
tightened when she saw the wound. It was mere inches from the heart. If it had it the heart, Henry
would have been dead.
"There's no anaesthesia here. This is going to hurt."
She sniffed. She wasn't sure if he heard her.
"I'm a man."
Henry's eyes were closed in exhaustion, but he still answered her. This pain was nothing compared to
the pain he had been feeling these seven years.
He was about to lose consciousness due to the pain and loss of blood but still, he wanted to show her
manly demeanour. She tried her best to put on a smile, but it looked more like a grimace. "Maybe I'll
take my revenge here while I'm at it."
Whether it was seven years ago or a few days ago, he always made her feel uncomfortable.
Henry kept quiet. He raised his eyelids and glanced at her. His pale lips were still sexy. "Try it."
Luz pressed her lips together and looked at the sky to calm herself down so that her hands would stop
trembling.
The sharp knife cut through his skin quickly and smoothly. She knew that this was the best course of
action to minimize the pain and damage to his muscles.
Without a suction, the bright red blood flowed freely from the wound and dripped from the knife. Her
hands and clothes were covered with the same warm substance, burning the ice wall she had put up
around her heart.
The bullet's diameter was very small, but without professional equipment, it was much more difficult to
cut open the wound. It was no different from the primitive medical practice of bloodletting.
In just two or three minutes, there was already a layer of sweat on her forehead. She had only worked
as an intern in the hospital for half a year, and she didn't even have a doctor's license. Every time she
pressed the knife into his skin, her heart trembled with fear, but her rationale was forcing her to stay
calm.
The tip of the knife touched the bullet. She took a deep breath and said, "Henry, I'm going to take the
bullet."
"Okay."
Henry's breathing was weak. He placed his hand on her trembling leg.
She twisted the tip of the knife with a sudden and powerful movement, and then took out the bullet with
two fingers. She could feel his muscles contract when she reached into the open wound. She could
imagine the pain he was in right now.
"Henry, are you okay?"
Throwing away the knife, she held Henry's face in her hands, trying to make sure that he was still
conscious.
"Weren't you taught how to bandage a wound?"
His face was as pale as paper as if he could die at any time. Henry said this in a low voice, and then
his head hit heavily on her shoulder.
"Henry!"
Luz shouted his name. She checked his pulse to make sure that his heart was still beating at a normal
rate, then tore her skirt into strips to bandage his bleeding wound.
After she was done with her work, she was almost worn out with fear and exhaustion. She moved
Henry into her arms carefully so that he was comfortable and watched as the sun went down.
The bullet had just been taken out. Without blood-clotting medicine, his wound would bleed out every
time he moved. It would be troublesome if he lost too much blood.
"We'll spend the night here."
If Lucas was not injured, he would definitely send a large number of people to look for them. The police
would also search and rescue them. Perhaps they would meet some kind-hearted passers-by. They
would definitely be fine.
As the night fell, the temperature dropped. Luz glanced at the trembling man in her arms and quietly
took off her ripped jacket to cover his exposed skin.
Her thin dress with the sleeveless design made her slender arms instantly get goosebumps.
"Put it back on."
Henry, who had been unconscious for two or three hours, opened his eyes.
"I'm not cold. We don't have any anti-inflammatory drugs now. Your wound may get infected easily, and
if you catch a cold now, your condition will worsen."
She shook her head without thinking, but was stopped by Henry. "Put it on."
"No."
She wasn't the one in danger now. He was.
Henry frowned, but the tiny movement pulled at the wound on his back. His breath caught, which made
Luz anxious.
"Did you pull your wound? Don't move, otherwise, you'll bleed out."
"Hold me tight."
Knowing that she was stubborn, he found another way to keep her warm. Luz did not hesitate this time.
She wrapped her arms around his waist, carefully avoiding his wound.
His words had exhausted all his strength. Henry closed his eyes and fell asleep. Luz followed his
example in exhaustion. Unbeknownst to them, Lucas and Mia were almost out of their mind with worry
while looking for them.
"Have you found them? Do you think something bad had happened to them?"
Mia's face was full of anxiety. She thought she had heard gunshots when she was falling. It might be
her inner lawyer talking, but she couldn't help but think of the worst scenario.
"No, nothing will happen as long as Henry's around."
Lucas seemed calm on the surface, but he was also very anxious. He took several of the mercenaries
they had hired and went out to look for them.
The Maynard Family was also in a mess. The old lady was so worried that she couldn't close her eyes.
Henry did not call her. Had he found Luz? This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Mother, don't worry, it's normal for young people to stay out for the night. Who knows where they are
enjoying themselves right now."
Maddison said with a smile. In her heart, she couldn't wait for the two to die in an accident. Then, when
the old lady died, the inheritance of the Maynard Family would belong to her and Bryce.
"Grandma, Mommy will be fine."
The little boy took the old lady's hand and comforted her with a smile, but there was more worry in his
eyes. He would try calling his godmother later, and if she still didn't pick up, he would call Uncle Declan.
He didn't want to be an orphan.
The cold wind blew all night, but the two people in the empty land slept very soundly. When the next
day dawned, Luz opened her eyes.
She started the night with her arms around his waist, but now she found their positions switched, with
her in his embrace and her jacket on her.
"Last night, I..."
She immediately sat up from the ground, and there was a little embarrassment on her face. Then she
thought of something and went to check the wound on his back. As expected, she saw blood again.
"Your wound is bleeding again."
Guilt welled up inside her. She had slept so soundly last night she didn't even realize his wound had
reopened.
"I won't die." Henry smiled thinly. He wouldn't die so easily.
Seeing that he suddenly reached out his hand, Luz was stunned. "You want to get up? You shouldn't
move now."
"The wound is bleeding anyway. What are you afraid of? We can't stay here forever."
