Ex-husband's Sweet Trap

Chapter 38: Great-Grandson

Chapter 38: Great-Grandson

"Grandma."

"My dear grandson, I knew you had cared about Luz."

The moment the phone was connected, the old lady's excited voice came out. Henry raised his

eyebrows. He didn't expect his grandmother to know so soon.

"Where's Luz? Is she with you?"

He made a sound of agreement and handed his phone to Luz.

"Hello, grandma."

She pursed her lips and took the phone. Even though she was flustered, she knew that Henry's

grandmother was calling because she must have got the news already. She wouldn't get off so easily

now.

Sure enough, the old lady's voice became excited. "Luz, you don't know how long I've been looking

forward to this day. You and Henry are a match made in heaven. I was sure you'd get past all your

misunderstandings. Also, I have a great-grandson now! Can I meet him?"

"I..." Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Hearing the old lady mention the little fellow, Luz felt a little awkward. Her son had no idea about her

relationship with Henry.

"Luz, my greatest wish is to see my great-grandson before I die. I thought I'd never get to realise this

wish, but now I have a chance! Please grant me my dying wish."

The old lady was trying to elicit her pity, and it worked. Luz had no choice but to agree with her pleads.

"Of course, grandma. How about this, Logan is still in school right now. I'll bring him over to the

Maynard residence after he is done with school."

In the past, when she was in the Maynard Family, Henry's grandmother really cared about her, so she

really couldn't refuse such a friendly old lady.

"Great, I'll get the cooks to prepare dinner now. The boy's appetite should be similar to you or Henry, I

should plan this well so that my beloved great-grandchild can enjoy it."

Luz hung up the phone feeling a little overwhelmed. Henry Maynard was enough of an annoyance

already, but now with his grandmother in the mix, this matter would not end well for her.

"I have superior genes."

Luz blanched. Her mind suddenly cleared as she realized that the press conference was not held

because he had found out Logan's real identity and wanted to get back to her. From what he had just

said, it wasn't that. To him, the child wasn't his.

The car was stuffy, but she felt that the air was cold. She looked out of the window and smiled in a self-

deprecating way.

"Oh, Luz Boone," she thought to herself, "You're no longer the naive girl you were when you first met

Henry Maynard. Why would you even think that?"

All she was now was the butt of the joke.

Henry narrowed his eyes when she ignored him and turned her head away. North City was full of

women who would give anything to bear his child, but funnily enough, the only child he had in his short

marriage was not even his.

The car lurched forwards and drove out of the parking lot. The inertia made Luz hit her head on the

window. The pain made her dizzy.

......

"Dear class, that's all for today. When you go back, you must finish your homework. Go on home."

Once the teacher finished speaking, the entire class of students cheered. The end of the school day

was always the happiest time of their day.

Logan grabbed his bag and was about to walk out when the girl sitting behind him pull him back. He

turned around with a frown on his face. "What's up, Jane?"

"Logan, I... this is for you."

Jane was blushing. She lowered her head and did not meet his eyes, and then pushed a love letter into

his hand.

Logan watched as his classmate ran away, then looked at the pink envelope she had just given him,

and opened it. His expression became confused when he read the contents of the letter.

The words "Logan Boone" were a little skewed, but at least they were spelt correctly. The rest of the

letter was barely readable.

He could make out a sentence: "U r hansome, I lik u". The spelling errors hurt his eyes. Jane must not

have been to school for long.

He folded the letter and stuffed it into his trouser pocket before leaving the classroom.

He looked around the front gates but did not see the figure that should be waiting there. He frowned.

"Mommy is so unreliable, she's late all the time."

He was about to go back to his classroom to read something while waiting when a car honked behind

him. He looked over unhappily and saw a luxurious car. He wondered which rich kid's car it was.

They should know better than to honk in a school area.

But then he saw who was sitting in the front passenger seat, and his expression changed. "Isn't that my

mommy?"

This was obviously not Uncle Declan's car. Could it be that man's car?

In the car, Luz was panicking. Henry had locked all the car doors so she couldn't get out.

"Are you out of your mind?"

Her son had already finished school, and the other parents were already waiting in line to pick up the

children.

"What's wrong with letting him wait for a while?" He narrowed his eyes as he looked at the little figure

standing in the distance. He felt a little annoyed. The child looked so much like him, but he was Luz

and Declan's child.

As soon as he thought of the result of the DNA report, he felt the urge to throttle the woman beside

him. How dare she cheat on him!

Seeing that Henry wasn't going to unlock the doors, Luz had no choice but to knock on the window and

yell her son's name.

The little fellow frowned and took small steps toward the Maybach. He got close to the car and took out

his phone. He took several photos of the car, including some images of Luz knocking on the window

and shouting.

Henry was also stunned by the boy's behaviour. Then he saw him press something on his phone and

say loudly, "Hello, is this the police? I want to make a report, a bad man kidnapped my mommy and

locked her in a car in front of the North City Primary School."

"Are you sure your mommy has been kidnapped?"

The policeman on the other end of the phone asked worriedly. After all, it was common for children to

make false reports.

"Yes, I also took a few photos of my mommy knocking on the window and shouting for help. Please,

you have to come to save my mommy!"

The child's serious tone erased the doubts in the policeman's mind. "Don't worry, I'll send someone

over at once."

Logan hung up and waited calmly. About five minutes later, three police cars stopped in front of the

school, sirens blaring. The police were armed.
