Chapter 28: Things have changed
Chapter 28: Things have changed
The captain was well-groomed and in uniform, he also looked very imposing.
Seeing that the officer and several policemen who were in a circle, the traffic jams, and the chaotic
scene, the captain asked, “What's going on?”
When Carlos saw the captain came, he quickly greeted him.
“Jackson, long time no see!” Carlos was like meeting a friend he hadn't seen in a long time.
“Carlos, what happened that you needed to call me over in such a hurry?”
As soon as Jackson received the call from his old friend, he rushed over to inquire about the matter.
It was true that Carlos and Jackson had known each other for a long time. After the two exchanged
pleasantries, Carlos briefly described the situation to Jackson.
He hoped Jackson could resolve the matter to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.
Carlos' words were very polite and formal. After Felicity heard them, she felt a little uneasy again.
It seemed that Carlos and the captain were really acquaintances, then how will this matter be
resolved…
Vincent acted like he was waiting for a good show, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rose. He
looked at Felicity complacently.
When the time comes, where else can she runs to?
Who would have thought, after Jackson saw Jason, his expression changed drastically.
He didn't even dare to go up and talk to Jason, but he apologized to Carlos, “Carlos, I'm afraid I can't
help you with this matter, we need to do this officially.”
Carlos never expected Jackson to say that as well, and his face immediately turned long.
“Jackson, you're not unaware of this, are you? We've known each other for so many years, it's not easy
for me to prepare a wedding for my son. Besides, I’m also not someone who will do such things, right?”
“We as policemen, can't bring relationships into our work, and I hope you understand.”
Jackson also felt very awkward but tried his best to be persuasive.
“This... Jackson, how about I invite you to dinner some other time?” Carlos lowered his voice again,
hoping to settle the matter privately.
In the past, Jackson would try his best not to embarrass Carlos.
As the old saying goes: big matters are made small, small matters are made none.
But this time, he couldn’t help Carlos no matter what.
“Sorry, I can’t help you. Bob, do what you need to do!”
Jackson rejected Carlos’ solicitation and asked Sir Bob to do it officially.
What he said startled everyone there except for Jason.
Everyone originally thought that the tables would have turned - do the cops really want to do it
officially?
Sir Bob received the order and announced, “ Mr. Rhodes and Ms. Rhodes should take Vincent back
first, as for the James family, you are suspected of interfering with other people's freedom and hostage
threats, bring all of them back to the station for interrogation.”
Stella and Stanley were petrified on the spot, it was hard to imagine that this would be the outcome.
Vincent was also stunned, the confident words he said before were now turned into invisible slaps that
slapped his cheeks.
How did things come to this…
Carlos also felt overwhelmed; how humiliating was it to lose face in front of everyone?
He snorted coldly, “Well, that’s just great! Let’s go!”
The James family had really let him down.
With that, Carlos left with his wife and son.
After the crowd and vehicles dispersed, only Jason and the James family were left there.
The police wanted to take Stanley and Stella to the police station, but how would Stanley agree to that?
He's a prominent figure in JC City too, but now he would be arrested and taken to the police station for
investigation. If word gets out later, how embarrassed will he be?
“Officer, this truly is a misunderstanding!”
But no matter how much Stanley explained, those cops just didn’t listen to it at all.
Stella was furious, she quickly asked Felicity to help to explain, “Felicity, can we stop this mess
already? If you don't want to get married in such a hurry, let's just change the date, things are getting
so embarassing now...”Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Stella was still blaming it on the fact that Felicity was stubborn and inconsiderate.
But Felicity, with a cold face, retorted, “Officer, you heard it right! They're the ones who locked me up
before even greeted me, and forced me to get married...”
“Why are you so full of nonsense, what on earth do you want?”
Stanley was so angry that he wanted to interrupt Felicity.
“Why are you so agitated? Did I say something wrong? My mother is sick and you threaten me with her
life! What? And now you're afraid to admit it?”
The more Felicity spoke, the angrier and more agitated she became, and she began exposing more of
Stanley 's scandals.
Upon hearing that, Stanley was so angry that his face turned blue. Things were simply getting worse
and worse, he yelled and cursed, “Wicked daughter, how did I give birth to such a wicked daughter like
you?!”
“You're so ungrateful, you’re raised to disown your family! Like a dog that disregards its owner!”
Stella was also cursing at the side, and the scene was chaotic.
Jason couldn’t stand listening to them, his face instantly darkened, and he said to the officer, “Aren't
you going to take them away yet?”
Sir Bob saw Jason’s unhappy face, he didn't dare to neglect anymore. He quickly asked his men to pull
the two of them into the car.
Finally, both Stanley and Stella were taken away, leaving only Oliver and Hannah at the scene.
Oliver looked at Felicity with an appalled face as if he was looking at some kind of monster, “You've
really become unrecognizable even to me!”
“As if I have known you before?”
The thing that annoyed Felicity the most was that self-righteous look of Oliver.
Who was the one who changed his heart first?
Now why did he have the nerve to act nobly and lament that things have changed?
“Don't you think it's going too far to send your own father to the police?”
Oliver comforted Hannah, at the same time blaming Felicity.
Felicity sneered, she didn't bother to defend herself, she just ignored Oliver.
Then, Felicity said to Jason, “Let’s go.”
Jason nodded and took Felicity with him to the car.
After that, the two of them just watched as Felicity left.
The wedding incident ended in this way.
…
Felicity sighed in relief, luckily she was able to escape that, thanks to the timely appearance of Jason.
On the way back, she said to Jason, “Thank you.”
She couldn't think of anything more suitable than that word.
“No need to thank me, I didn’t expect that so many bad things would happen to you, are you really that
unpopular?”
Jason just didn't want Felicity to care too much, he unintentionally said a joke to liven things up a bit.
But Felicity’ heart sank a little, she bit her lip hard, and forced a smile, “ I do live a failure.”
Immediately afterwards, she mocked herself, “I am really unpopular. Whether it’s my classmate, my
roommates, or family, they don’t like me, it’s like I’m am an extra.”
Jason was startled; he was just saying it unintentionally; he didn't expect Felicity’ mood to be so
low.
