Chapter 1791: This Is a Tough Case

Chapter 1791: This Is a Tough Case

“What happened?”

Lucas frowned slightly. Yasmeen also looked at Edison worriedly.

“Come on. Straight to the point. Are you a man or not?”

Yasmeen was only gentle to Lucas and always treated others rudely.

Edison’s mouth corners twitched a bit. Thinking about Michele’s status, he answered immediately, “Just

now, the doctor pulled out the needle from Michele’s neck, but the acupoint has become black. The

doctor suspected it was poisonous.”

“Poisonous?”

Yasmeen frowned.

“This is a tough case,” she said.

“I’ll call Uncle Morty now. He must know what’s going on.”

Lucas hurriedly called Morty, telling him about Michele’s current status.

Upon hearing that their daughter was poisoned, Morty and his wife drove to the hospital right away.

Yasmeen secretly tugged Lucas’s sleeve, looking quite obedient.

“What’s the matter?” Lucas asked.

“I want to call my mother and ask her to come over to check on Michele. What do you think?”

In fact, Yasmeen had been homesick.

Lucas said he would take her home later, but Michele’s current status was way too complicated.

Yasmeen didn’t know how long it would take them to stay here. Besides, in terms of Chinese medicine,

her mother, Ashley, was an expert.

She could take this chance to meet her mother.

Lucas could understand what was in her mind. Thinking about his conversation with Joseph, Lucas

nodded and said, “Sure. Please ask Aunt Ashley to come over. I also miss her.”

“Why do you miss my mother? Be careful. My dad might hit you.”

Yasmeen waved her fist, looking immensely fierce. Lucas was amused.

She just looked fierce on the surface.

“Go ahead. I wonder if Aunt Ashley is in operation now.”

“She’s on annual leave recently.”

After finishing speaking, Yasmeen pulled out her phone and started talking with her mother.

Lucas went to Morty and whispered, “Uncle Morty, Yasmeen is calling Aunt Ashley over to check on

Michele.”

Morty was slightly taken aback.

Anyone who wanted to see the Greatest Global Scalpel must be waiting in a line. Ashley should be

occupied until the next half of this year. However, Yasmeen could ask her mother to come over for his

daughter, Morty felt highly appreciated.

“Okay. Please thank her on behalf of me.”

“You are welcome, Uncle Morty. She’s my wife soon. She wants to help me.”

Looking at Lucas’s complacent face, Morty wanted to slap him.

“Get out!” he said.

“All right.”

Lucas knew it was useless for him to stay here as he couldn’t help at all. Besides, he didn’t have the

love between a man and a woman for Michele. Hence, he wanted to leave.

Yasmeen was still talking to Ashley. Lucas approached her from the back. His hands wrapped around

her slender waist. Yasmeen was overwhelmed by his familiar scent. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

She felt a bit shy but didn’t struggle. Instead, she leaned backward, standing against Lucas.

Ashley was still complaining about Yasmeen for not going home often. Lucas directly said, “Aunt

Ashley, after you come over to check on Michele. I’ll take Yasmeen back to stay with Uncle Steven and

you for a while.”

“Lucas?”

Ashley was surprised a bit.

She knew her daughter was obsessed with Lucas for years. Yasmeen even left her hometown because

of him. In fact, Ashley disliked Lucas a lot. Although he was a talent, as a mother, she didn’t want her

daughter to be so suffered.

Besides, Yasmeen had chased after Lucas for so many years, but Lucas didn’t accept her. Ashley felt

sorry for her daughter, so she disliked Lucas. Upon hearing Lucas's words now, she was taken aback.

Lucas knew he must be humble in front of his future mother-in-law. He hurriedly said, “Yes, this is

Lucas. Aunt Ashley, I haven’t seen you for a long time. How have you been doing?”

“What do you think? My heart disease almost breaks out because of my stupid daughter. I’m glad I’m

still alive,” Ashley answered with hidden complaints.

“Mom, what are you talking about?” Yasmeen chimed in hurriedly.

She finally managed to make Lucas accept her. She didn’t want her mother to kick him away by

scolding him.

Upon hearing her words, Ashley knew that her daughter had belonged entirely to Lucas now.

“Go ahead to be protective to him. This brat made you suffer for so many years. Once he has accepted

you, I can tell how joyful you are, silly girl. Don’t you consider how your father and I feel? Who does the

brat think he is? You’ve pursued him for so many years. Yasmeen, couldn’t you have a backbone? Why

does it have to be him? Aren’t there any other men in this world?”

The more Ashley spoke, the angrier she became. She wished to open her daughter’s skull and check

what was in her brain. Hence, she completely ignored Lucas.

Lucas rubbed his nose. Suddenly, he realized that there was still a long way for him to go to marry

Yasmeen. After all, he must try hard to win his future mother-in-law’s permission first.

“Aunt Ashley, please don’t blame Yasmeen. It’s all my fault.”

“Oops, now you know to protect your girlfriend, huh? When Yasmeen was chasing you, why didn’t you

realize it was your fault for having no response to her? Let me tell you. Lucas Green, I know Yasmeen

likes you, but she can’t represent her parents. You made my daughter suffer for so many years and

wanted us to let her marry you. Dream on.”

After that, Ashley didn’t give Lucas any chance to explain. She directly hung up the phone.

Hearing the beeps on the phone, Yasmeen felt a bit awkward.

She knew that her mother had always been a short-tempered woman. All through the years, Ashley

had been quite angry with Lucas because Yasmeen insisted on staying in Country Z.

If it weren’t for the friendship between the Green and Bradford families, probably Ashley had already

slashed Lucas with a blade.

However, Yasmeen thought Lucas was innocent.

It was her who fell in love with him. She also decided herself when persistently chasing after Lucas

despite any failures. Hence, she felt sorry for Lucas as her mother scolded him.

“Lucas, please ignore my mother. She’s in menopause now, so she treats everyone harshly.”

Lucas didn’t get angry, though. Instead, he rubbed her head and said gently, “Your mother cares about

you a lot. If we have a daughter in the future and go after a boy for twenty years, but that boy doesn’t

accept her, I will do more hurtful things on him.”

When hearing him mention their daughter, Yasmeen curled up her lips into a smile. Her smile became

brighter and brighter, and she looked pretty silly.

Looking at her, Lucas laughed out and asked, “What is wrong with you?”

“Do you like daughter, Lucas?”

Suddenly, Yasmeen looked over at him. Upon hearing her question, Lucas was taken aback.

He wondered what the heck was in her mind.
