Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Flora and the others had booked a buffet.
This restaurant specialized in seafood, and they could smell a strong seafood smell as soon as they entered.
Jolene hadn’t felt anything when she had smelled it before, but that day she suddenly felt slight pain in her stomach.
As soon as they entered the room, Flora and the others came over to hug Jolene individually.
Jolene couldn’t bear to see such a sensational scene and smiled, “It’s like saying goodbye to a dead body.” Joyce was superstitious and spat several times.
“Bah, bah, it’s unlucky.” They pushed Jolene onto the chair, “Miss Marsh, we will get drunk today.” Just then, she had seen the wine on the table, beer, red wine, and even liquor.
Jolene touched her lower abdomen subconsciously.
Flora poured her a full glass, ” It’s no big deal if this company fails. Just change to another one. You have the ability, and you can still shine elsewhere.”
After Flora had finished speaking, she drank the wine in the glass.
Jolene remembered drinking wine the previous night, so it didn’t matter that day.
She had already decided the moment she had raised her glass and drunk the wine.
She hadn’t wanted to keep that child.

How could she have let the baby live this messy life like her?
Giving children a good life without the confidence to give birth in a daze had been irresponsible.
The women in the house had started to feel sad after a few glasses of wine.
They didn’t know who had started it and sighed. “In this world, the most worthless thing is a woman’s youth.” Then Flora had hugged Jolene’s neck and cried.
Jolene knew that they weren’t just lamenting that Bowen. had fired her.
But when Bowen had been about to get married, she had been kicked away.
Everyone had drunk and wasn’t in the company, so they had talked casually.
Joyce had lowered her voice and had held her wine glass against her cheek, “When had Assistant Marsh done something wrong in so many years? How could Assistant Marsh have made such a mistake when the amount on the contract had been missing two zeros?”
“You mean, there was something tricky behind this?”
“No, it was just to get rid of Assistant Marsh…”

“Could it have been Mr Evert himself…” The more they had talked, the angrier Jolene had felt for them.
Flora had leaned against Jolene and said, “Assistant Marsh, we all thought you would have been promoted to the boss’s wife, at least as a girlfriend. Who knew…”
“I never thought that way.” Jolene had lowered her head and had turned the wine glass in her hand, watching the bright red wine swaying in the mirror, “I know my position. I just keep to myself and do my duty. I am there when he needs me and go away when he doesn’t.”
She had raised her head, smiled brightly, and suddenly stood up and raised her wine glass to them, “I wish us a bright future!”
Everyone had drunk too much that night, and Jolene should have been the soberest.
Flora had also been okay; she had been a significant drinker, and she and Jolene had drunk the most in the secretary’s office.
Before parting, Jolene had pulled Flora aside and had stuffed the jewelry box into her, “Please sell it for me. The higher the price, the better.”
Knowing it was a good thing, Flora had opened it to look and had quickly stuffed it into her bag.
“Assistant Marsh, are you short of money?” Jolene had
smiled. Flora hadn’t asked any further questions and had patted her chest to assure her, “Don’t worry, I will bring it to my brother tomorrow and ask him to find an expert to evaluate and give you the highest price.”
“Thank you.” Jolene had hugged Flora, “When I find a new job, I will treat you to dinner.”
Everyone had separated at the restaurant’s entrance, and the neon lights had reddened everyone’s faces.
After getting along for a few years, they hadn’t become enemies anywhere, and these people had still come to see her off after Jolene had left. It had been considered Jolene’s success in life.
After so many years, there had still been hard work, even without credit!
