Chapter 24 Warning Gabriel Austin
Chapter 24 Warning Gabriel Austin
Evie looked happier than me as she gave me a big hug.
"I'm going to work tomorrow. I'll treat you to a big meal tonight!"
I would be able to work in Grizzlimited tomorrow. so I decided to be generous this evening and treat her
to a big meal as thanks for taking care of me for so many days.
"Let's go. I'll choose a place tonight!"
Hearing my treat, Evie became even more excited.
"By the way, ask your boyfriend to come out with you. Last time I said I wanted to see your boyfriend,
but I haven't seen him yet. Tonight is a good opportunity."
Remembering our last conversation about her boyfriend, I told her to bring him out.
I was Evie's best friend, so naturally, she wouldn't refuse. She took out her phone immediately and
called her boyfriend.
After Evie booked the restaurant, the two of us took a taxi there.
We arrived at the restaurant and waited for about half an hour before Evie's boyfriend, Gabriel Austin,
arrived.
I looked him up and down. He was tall and slim and wore a pair of glasses. He looked gentle and weak.
"Gabriel, why did you come so late? We've been waiting for you for a long time."
As soon as Gabriel appeared, Evie stepped forward and held his arm intimately. Her usually carefree
character had completely changed into a gentle one.
Looking at the change in Evie's personality, I couldn't help but smile. Evie changed so quickly. I
wondered if Gabriel knew how she acted at home. From NôvelDrama.Org.
"Sorry, there was a traffic jam on the way here."
Gabriel looked at me apologetically and then explained.
"It's okay. We're not in a hurry anyway."
I smiled faintly at him, but I had some doubts in my heart. At this time, the rush hour had passed, and
the restaurant we chose was relatively remote and not in the city. How could there be a traffic jam?
However, seeing that Evie was so excited, I didn't want to make things difficult for her, so I could only
swallow my suspicions.
Although I said that I would treat Evie to a big meal, she didn't order expensive dishes. I knew that she
was saving money for me. She knew that I had just found a job, and all my previous savings had been
used on the wedding with Vaughn.
During the meal, I saw that Gabriel kept looking at his mobile phone discreetly and seemed to be a little
anxious, which made me more suspicious.
"Mr Austin, I see that you have been looking at your mobile phone, and you are a little absent-minded.
Is there anything wrong?"
I didn't want to ruin the atmosphere. Although Gabriel looked gentle and quiet, he always gave me a
strange feeling. I couldn't pinpoint the feeling.
Hearing what I said, Gabriel looked a little flustered and quickly put his mobile phone into his pocket.
"No... It's nothing. I was just scrolling through social media."
"You shouldn't mess around on your phone all time. We haven't seen each other for a while, don't you
want to chat with me?"
Looking at Gabriel, Evie pouted discontentedly and complained in a low voice. She didn't see Gabriel's
guilty expression at all.
Although Gabriel's expression was understandable, after being betrayed by Vaughn, I had become
much more sensitive and thoughtful.
I didn't believe that a person would look so guilty if he were really just browsing on social media. My
intuition told me that he must be hiding something from Evie.
However, given Evie's carefree personality, she would definitely not doubt Gabriel.
I didn't mean to suspect Gabriel. I just didn't want my good friend to be betrayed by a man like I was. I
didn't want my good friend to suffer that kind of pain.
Gabriel was still looking at his phone and typing something from time to time. Evie kept congratulating
me on my new job. She did not notice Gabriel's actions at all, but I had been paying attention to his
actions.
Halfway through the meal, Gabriel made an excuse to go to the bathroom. He took his mobile phone
and walked towards the bathroom.
When I saw him walking in the direction of the bathroom hurriedly with a flustered expression on his
face, I was even more suspicious. I had a feeling that this Gabriel was not as honest as he looked.
Evie continued to eat non-stop, completely unaware of Gabriel's abnormal behavior.
"Evie, how does your boyfriend usually treat you? How much do you know about him?"
I looked at Evie, who was eating non-stop, and asked in a low voice.
"Gabriel is just an ordinary office worker, just like me, but we work in different departments."
Hearing my question about Gabriel, Evie wasn't wary of me at all, so she told me.
"Is he always nice to you? How long has it been since you two met?"
I continued to ask questions while looking at her carefully.
"Hollie. Why did you suddenly become so nosy today? I have never seen you so interested in my
boyfriend before. Do you also think that Gabriel is good?"
I wasn't usually a nosy person, so my incessant questioning surprised her.
"No, I was just curious."
I lowered my head and said nothing more.
Gabriel had been gone for a long time. I was even more suspicious. Even if he went to poop, he should
have been back already.
"Evie, I'm going to the washroom too. Wait for me here."
I found an excuse, picked up my phone and walked to the bathroom.
Before I reached the bathroom, I heard Gabriel's voice on the phone at the corner of the corridor.
"Baby, I'm really at work. I'll call you later, okay?"
As soon as I reached the corridor, I heard Gabriel's words and immediately hid behind the wall.
"Why would I lie to you? When have I ever lied to you? I'll go to you right after I finish my work, okay?"
Gabriel was speaking gently into his phone. I didn't need to think hard to know that he was speaking to
another woman. For a second, I was furious.
On the surface, Gabriel looked honest, but I didn't expect him to also be a scumbag. He was Evie
boyfriend, but he was calling another woman and saying such ambiguous things!
Gabriel hung up the phone. I saw him coming towards me. I didn't avoid him, but stood there and
waited.
Evie was the only friend I had who had treated me sincerely. I couldn't let her suffer the same betrayal
as me. I didn't want my best friend to suffer that kind of pain.
