Divorcing

Divorcing 20

Chapter 20 Defend Lucy

Chloe found it ridiculous.

She had been married to Michael and slept with him for three years but got nothing. Moreover, both their marriage and divorce should be kept a secret.

“I agree. Anyway, besides you and the Shawn family, no one knows that I’m your wife, right?”

Chloe bent down and signed her name on the paper with a pen.

She had no interest in Michael’s wealth, let alone any shared post–nuptial property. All she wanted was to end things with him and keep her distance from him.

But this year of acting made her feel inexplicably depressed.

Luckily, the agreement explicitly stated that it was a mutual obligation of both parties. If Michael failed to fulfill his part or violated the contract, Chloe would be compensated for damages.

With this in mind, she found it was a fair deal.

If love didn’t suit them, a transaction would do.

After signing the agreement, Chloe and Michael still consented to go to the courthouse on Monday.

Without the intention of staying here overnight, Chloe was about to leave. Unexpectedly, she opened the door and ran into Lucy, who prepared to ring the doorbell.

Lucy looked gentle and elegant in a long white dress. She was surprised to see Chloe open the door.

“Chloe, I am here to attend the banquet with Michael. I didn’t expect you to be here, too. Then let’s go together.”

Lucy’s words annoyed Chloe very much.

She was so graceful that some people might misunderstand that she was Michael’s wife.

Chloe couldn’t help but mock, “You’re accompanying my husband to the banquet, yet you dare to flaunt yourself in front of me. Both your mother and you are equally shameless!”

Lucy and her mother cast a significant shadow over her life.

Lucy’s eyes turned icy, but she quickly hid her emotion.

She sighed and smiled gently, “Chloe, you misunderstood. I am going with Michael because we are colleagues. It has nothing to do with anything else.”

Chloe sneered, “You know it well yourself. No one would call someone else’s husband in such an intimate way.”

She hadn’t officially divorced Michael yet, but Lucy couldn’t wait to come over and show off in front of her!

Lucy chuckled and raised her hand to tuck the hair behind her ears. “Chloe, you are still the same as before.”

In just one sentence, Chloe was portrayed as an unreasonable and shrewish woman.

She always used little effort to achieve great results, making Chloe lose miserably.

Michael walked out from inside and noticed Chloe and Lucy standing face to face outside. He glanced at Chloe.

Lucy said softly, “Michael, don’t blame Chloe. She’s a bit suspicious by nature. I believe the truth will reveal itself.”

The truth would reveal itself.

Chloe almost laughed out loud because of this sentence.

But thinking that Lucy had a point, Michael frowned at Chloe.

“Could you stop making a fuss just for once? We have some serious business to deal with this afternoon.”

He hadn’t heard their previous conversation, but upon his appearance, he defended Lucy without hesitation.

Such different attitudes almost made Chloe collapse.

She secretly gritted her teeth. “You are really a loving couple. Why did not the thunderbolt strike you dead and send you into

reincarnation? In this way, you can start your next life together and stop causing trouble for others!”

“Chloe!”

Michael had a sullen face, suppressing his rage.

However, Chloe ignored it, pointing at his nose, and cursed, “You can’t tell right from wrong and play dumb, so don’t blame me for scolding you, too!”

With that, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Regardless of Michael’s and Lucy’s expressions, Chloe left the villa.

She really didn’t want to face these disgusting people for even one more second.

They should go to hell!
