Chapter 241: Always waiting for Adán Rouco to come home
The Bohai Bridge, in the darkness of the night, shrouded by the dim street lights and the cold wind blowing in from the sea, stuck in Estrella Berrocal’s neck.
Standing on the bridge, looking out at the endless calm sea, he finally could contain himself no longer and shouted out to sea.
“Adam Rouco! Adam Rouco! I’m waiting for you to come back! You have to come back…”
Her voice was hysterical, muffled and dry, choked with sobs.
The early winter sea breeze was like a razor blade, cutting sharply across her face, and the hot tears in her eyes, the moment they slid away, had turned cold.
In her blurred vision, she was looking at the sea, standing alone on the bridge.
Adam… Where the hell are you?
Facundo Montes, the driver, stood to the side, watching Estrella Berrocal.
The phone rings and the caller ID is Villa La familia Rouco.
Facundo Montes picks it up: “Hello, sir”.
“Keep an eye on Miss Star, I’m afraid she might do something foolish.”
“Yes, don’t worry mister, I won’t let anything happen to Miss Estrella.”
After hanging up the phone, Facundo Montes took a blanket from the car, approached Estrella Berrocal and handed it to her.
“Miss Star, it’s windy on the beach and you’re not wearing much clothing, so you’d better put your blanket on, to be careful of catching a cold.”
Estrella Berrocal’s eyes filled with tears and she turned her head to Facundo Montes and asked, biting her lip, “Do you think Adam would be cold if he were still at sea?”
Facundo Montes froze: “What a … Miss Estrella… maybe Mr. Adán… …”
“They’re actually trying to tell me that Adam is dead, aren’t they?”.
“Miss Estrella, you are still pregnant, take care of yourself.”
Estrella Berrocal cried and laughed: “So, you all think Adam is dead?”.
How could a man who had been in a car accident and fallen into the sea be alive after ten hours?
Only Facundo Montes couldn’t bear to say that to Estrella Berrocal.
Estrella Berrocal looked out to sea and said, word for word, “As long as we don’t see his body, there’s a chance he’s alive. He promised me he would be home early tonight.”
Facundo Montes pursed his lips and his eyes moistened a little.
Estrella Berrocal grabbed the railing with both hands and shouted to the sea: “Adán Rouco! I’ll be waiting for you all the way home!”.
…
Villas del Condado Azul.
Eleanora Lozada was drowsy from sleep, with a cold sweat on her forehead.
Jonathan Tasis hugged her and called softly, “Analena, wake up, Analena?”.
“Ah…!”
Eleanora Lozada suddenly woke up and looked at Jonathan Tasis in horror.
Jonathan Tasis said sweetly, “What is it, a nightmare?”.
Eleanora Lozada threw herself into his arms and snuggled against his chest, “I, I dreamt I killed someone…”
“No, my Analena is very kind, how could I kill someone, don’t be imagining things.”
Jonathan Tasis took her hand and brought it to his lips and kissed it.
“Are you hungry? I’ll have the maids make you some midnight snacks.”
Jonathan Tasis was about to get up and leave when Eleanora Lozada tugged on his sleeve: “Jonathan Tasis, don’t go, I’m scared”.
Jonathan Tasis sat back down and hugged her, “Don’t be afraid, I’m not leaving.”
He took out some tissues and wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead, caressing her slender back with his large hands, unable to help but feel a little more pleased to see her so dependent on him.
“Analena, you seem to depend on me more than ever.”
“…”
Jonathan Tasis smiled slightly and said, “I’m glad you trust me so much.”
“Would you hate me if … If one day you found out I wasn’t what you thought I was?”ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
The man’s eyes, looked at her deeply, “No matter what you become, you are my Analena Lozada, I love you more than anything, how could I hate you?”
Jonathan Tasis reached up and smoothed her sweaty hair, and Eleanora Lozada stared at him, her eyes moving.
“By the way, there’s something I think I should tell you.”
“What is it?”
Jonathan Tasis said, “Adam Rouco was in a car accident today, the man and the car crashed into the sea, and no body has been recovered yet.”
Eleanora Lozada felt a strong shiver run through her body and her heart was trembling.
Did this mean that Adán Rouco was really dead?
I was stunned: “How, how can it be?”.
Jonathan Tasis frowned, “Maybe it was an enemy he had made in the business, but I can’t imagine who would have the guts to do that.”
Eleanora Lozada looked at him warily and asked, “Would it bother you … that Adán Rouco is dead?”
Jonathan Tasis suddenly laughed mockingly and said, “I once lost you because of him, I wanted him killed with a thousand slashes, a thousand deaths would not have been enough for me, but now that I know he has been killed, I am not glad, suddenly I remember the time when we were good friends, he is dead and suddenly my heart is empty. ”
Eleanora Lozada murmured, “Is it true that he is dead?”
“More than ten hours have passed and the man has still not been recovered, the chances of survival are slim. Lately, perhaps the Rouco Group is about to make a big change.”
Eleanora Lozada closes her eyes, her heart clenched, she thought she would get her revenge and be happy, but not only did she not get the thrill she expected. On the contrary, her heart felt heavy.
Eleanora Lozada remembered that she had some unfinished business and said to Jonathan Tasis, “I’m a little hungry, could you have someone fix me something to eat?”
Jonathan Tasis reached up and scratched his nose and said affectionately, “Yes.”
Once Jonathan Tasis left the room, Eleanora Lozada took his phone aside, opened it and sent a text message.
“Five million dollars, I will wire it to you in three days, do not call me, receive this money, take your daughter and leave The Holy City immediately and do not return to The Holy City.”
Once the text message was sent, Eleanora Lozada immediately deleted it, turned off her phone and threw it aside.
She took a deep breath and covered her face with her hands for a long moment before calming down enough to pull up the covers and get out of bed.
Jonathan Tasis was in the kitchen simmering porridge when he was suddenly embraced from behind by a pair of gentle arms.
The man curved his lips, “Why are you up?”.
“I didn’t want to be alone.”
Jonathan Tasis pulled her straight up from behind and gathered her into his arms, gently resting his chin on the top of her head, and said with a mute smile, “When did you get so clingy?”
“Do I seem a little annoying to you?”
“Well yes, I like it when you stick to me, it makes me feel safer.”
He looked down and kissed her on the temple of her ears.
Eleanora Lozada hesitated for a moment and stammered, “I … want to talk to you about something.”
“Hmm?”
“Can you lend me some money?”.
Jonathan Tasis raised an eyebrow and leaned over to look at her, “How much do you want?”
Eleanora Lozada touched a little bottom, “Five million…”
Would Jonathan Tasis suspect anything if she asked him for five million in a heartbeat?
“What do you want so much money for?” Jonathan Tasis’ suddenly serious expression.
Eleanora Lozada’s heart stuttered, “I…”
Seeing her small, slightly white face, Jonathan Tasis frowned and asked, “You’re not thinking of taking the five million and abandoning me again, are you?”
“…”
“Hmm?” he forced the question.
Eleanora Lozada’s ears blushed, “No… no. It’s just that I went out shopping alone today and saw a lot of things I wanted to buy, but I realized I didn’t have much money on me.”
This he said with some embarrassment, which he disguised well.
Jonathan Tasis looked at her for a long moment and let out a laugh, “I was bad thinking, when you went out today, I was worried you wouldn’t have your phone on you or money, that you would get lost or harassed.”
Eleanora Lozada lowered her eyes and muttered under her breath, “I’m not a puppy or a cat, I can’t get lost that easily.”
Jonathan Tasis’ eyes bugged out and a soft glow radiated from beneath them, “Analena, tell me how you’ve made it through these last ten years.”
“I fell into the sea and was rescued by local fishermen, but I hit my head on a reef in the sea, so I had memory loss, lived in a small fishing village for a long time, then remembered some things intermittently, so I went back home and stayed there for a long time. I thought if I went to The Holy City, there would be people who knew me and I could get my memories back, and by chance I met Dr. Juliet, and after that, you know what happened.”
Although Eleanora Lozada had downplayed its importance, Jonathan Tasis’ heart was shaken.
He hugged her tightly and sighed, “Analena, I swear I will never let you leave me again, nor let them hurt you.”
Eleanora Lozada couldn’t help but reach out and wrap her arms around his waist.
While Eleanora Lozada was leaning on the table drinking her porridge, Jonathan Tasis took a bank card out of the study and handed it to her.
“This bank card, I made it when you came back, but I forgot to give it to you, the code is your birthday.”
Eleanora Lozada took the bank card and only felt a heavy weight in her hand.
Jonathan Tasis was too good for her, this man, he was simply spoiling her like a daughter.
“There is only one million in it, then I will transfer the money to you in the computer, if you need money in the future, just ask me, Analena, the money you take from me, I don’t lend it to you, I earn it, it’s all for you to spend.”
The man’s large hand, rubbed her hair.
Eleanora Lozada stared at the card and tugged at the corner of her lips, “My parents have never been so nice to me.”
“Then let me be the one to spoil you the most.”
…
It was late at night when Estrella Berrocal returned from Bohai Bridge to Villa La familia Rouco.
His eyes were red and swollen.
From the living room of the villa came the voices of the old man and Paulita.
“Paulita, behave yourself, behave yourself, go to bed, it’s late, you have school tomorrow.”
The little girl frowned, rarely disobeying, “No, Grandpa, I want to wait for Estrella to come back, where the hell has Estrella gone!”.
As soon as Estrella Berrocal came in, Paulita called out to her: “Estrella!
The little girl ran down from the sofa and ran to Estrella Berrocal, wrapping her two little arms around her.
“Hmph, where have you been! Not even home this late! What if you’ve been caught by the bad guys outside?”.
Estrella Berrocal sniffled and squatted down to take Paulita’s little hand, her voice muffled and a small smile peeking through her lips as she said, “I’m back, aren’t I? Will Paulita sleep with me tonight?”
“Yes! It’s weird that Dad’s not home!”
At the mention of Adán Rouco, tears came to Estrella Berrocal’s eyes.
Paulita looked at her incredulously: “Estrella, what’s the matter with you!
“Nothing, it’s too windy outside and it hurts my eyes.”
Roberto Rouco got up with his crutches and came over saying: “You should put Paulita to bed, it is late, if there is anything, we will talk about it tomorrow”.
Estrella Berrocal understood the meaning of the old man’s words and nodded, “Good.”
