Left overs
Lynn
He walked out. Just like that. We all looked at his retreating back till he closed the door. I wished I had the confidence to also walk out because the drama that was about to ensue was something else. A man, his ex, and current girlfriend in one room was a bomb waiting to explode. If I was lucky, it would be detonated before that happened because I was not feeling like dragging dead bodies out of my room. I waited for the action to begin.
“So how are you finding my left overs?” Kari broke the silence. The question was clearly directed to Carina.
“What are you talking about, loser?” Carina released Ron’s hand and stepped forward. She was wearing a white t-shirt and bright blue jeans. This was the most decent attire I had ever seen her in. I wondered if it was because of Ron. Had she also changed under his influence? Glancing at the guy in question made me even more confused because the only thing he seemed to have were average looks. I couldn’t see why these girls would be so enamored with him but like Kari would say, I didn’t know him on the inside and hadn’t slept with him.
“You know exactly what I mean,” Kari said with an over sweet smile. I raised my brows and decided to stay silent to observe the drama unfold.
“Oh really?” Carina grabbed a lock of Kari’s curly hair and yanked it. Kari screamed in pain and I almost ran over to help her but I remembered Carina didn’t like me very much either. She wouldn’t hesitate to turn on me and beat me to a pulp. Nope, I was not about to sacrifice my wellbeing for Kari after she’d abandoned me when I needed her most. An evil part of me was actually glad that she was getting her butt kicked. It was like fate was using Carina to make her pay for the things she had done.
“STOP IT,” Ron yelled getting in between the two before a fight could begin. I really hate people who engage in physical violence with a new love interest of someone they love. It’s quite degrading. In this case, Ron even didn’t deserve to be fought but I guess he deserved the girls because they were both fake b! tches.
“Let’s go, Carina.” He led her out as she shouted profanities at Kari.
“That was… not a nice thing to do,” I concluded when only the three of us were in the room.
“Who cares about niceness,” Kari retorted, glaring at me.
“Okay, it wasn’t a cool move.” I smiled. “Is that better?”
“By the way, whose side are you on?” Jen asked me.
“What are you talking about?” I stared at her. What the hell was wrong with them? I was the one who should be angry, not them.
“Stop fooling around, Lynn.” She said. “It’s not cool.”
“Why are you even here?” I asked. “If it’s the Alec issue, then you’re wasting your time. He made it clear to us that he is not leaving his room. Didn’t you get that? Besides, he’s not a young child so don’t expect him to change his decision.”
“I’m sure you talked him into staying. You don’t want to lose him, right?”
“I didn’t convince him to stay. That was his choice and I would have let him leave if he wanted. But since he chose to stay, it’s fine with me.”
“So you don’t care that one of your best friends is homeless?” Jen asked. I was beyond done with their ridiculous questions.
“Well, you brought it upon yourself. I’m sure if you had not left, you’d not be homeless.”
“We all make mistakes,” Jen said. “Whatever happened is in the past.”
“So what do you expect me to do? Kick him out? You know that’s not possible. Can’t you think? You have to find somewhere else. Or try to kick him out by yourself because I failed. Besides, the landlady will not let him go. She’s a friend to Alec’s mother.”
“Maybe you’re right but the problem is that you seem to be more supportive to Alec,” Jen commented.
“What do you expect? You guys behaved like b! tches to me. You didn’t care much about the fact that I was staying with a stranger I didn’t like. You didn’t even tell me that my roommate was a boy. I had to find out by myself and that wasn’t nice. It was so hard for me at the start and none of you cared. Didn’t you think that would hurt? Maybe things would be better if you guys apologized. But, oh no, all you care about is your damn selves.”This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
“Well, at that time I liked Ron more.” Kari said in defense.
“Oh wow! Right now I also think I like Alec more.” I retorted.
“He’s going to break your heart. Do you see what happened to Kari? The same might happen to you.” Jen warned.
“Nothing of the sort will happen to me because Alec and I are not dating. We aren’t living as a couple. I just love having him around because he is fun.”
“Well go on do what you like. I don’t care anymore.” Jen snarled. “Let’s leave, Kari. We’ll find somewhere else.”
“Never talk to us,” Kari got up from the couch. “We’ve got nothing to do with a traitor like you.”
“I have other friends,” I said in anger,” I don’t care anymore because I’ve tried to explain everything to you and you don’t understand.”
“Whatever,” One of them said. I watched them leave. Well if they wanted to leave my life, they could. I didn’t feel anything; was neither sad nor happy. I was numb.
I hated that our friendship was dying but they were determine not to understand me. I had to live with that. I hoped I’d made the right choice by remaining with Alec. I wished we could be more than roommates. That would make me happier. Maybe it could fill the empty part of my soul.
Maybe.
