Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 150

Hector POV

An alarm keeps blurring out in the corridor and it's extremely annoying, while Alora and I put our pasts behind us and both start to think of our separate futures.

I have no doubt that rejecting Alora was the right thing to do, for me, for her and for Kala.

For so long I was driven by hatred and revenge on Than that it become a battle to come out on top. To be the victor having already lost the Amber Desert pack to him, I couldn't lose again. Even though it was turning me into a person I hardly recognised...until I met Kala. The beeping alarm continues but is suddenly muffled out by cries of pain from a room along the corridor.... woeful cries.

An unease washes over me as I start to pull on my collar, that feg of dread spreading through my body.

s going on?" I stand up to look out of the corridor only for a nurse to run into me. She bounces back

me and I reach out to steady her only for her to rush back up the corridor.

My eyes follow her odd behaviour as a small crowd forms in the other side of the corridor.

"Hector?" Alora gasps from her bed, her hands tugging at her chest.

"What is it, what's wrong?" I walk back towards her, her face pale as she rubs at her chest as if it causes her pain.

"I'm not sure. I can feel the pack bond but I can't feel Beckett anymore. It's as if he doesn't..." Her eyebrows furrow in confusion until her eyes open wide in shock.

"The bond...the pack is waiting for Kaia to accept it." She maintains rubbing on her chest as her eyes continue to hold a horrifying look.

""What?"

More figures rush past in the corridor and I myself join them this time. I rush out of Alora's room, heading straight towards the room where the small crowd has congregated.

I have to push through the crowded hallway to get into the room, my eyes widening as they fall upon the shocking scene before me.

Beckett's lifeless body with the doctor performing CPR in-between using paddles to shock his heart back

into life.

Nurses rush around the Doctor, passing him instruments that he yells for and standing back each time he uses the defibrillator before their hands return instantly trying to bring their Alpha back to life. Their attempts weren't working as his heart rate remained flatlined on the monitor. The doctor turns looking down at a metal tray beside him.

"Stop." The doctor shouts out, now holding something in his hand.

An empty syringe.

"Stop proceedings....the Alpha is dead." The Doctor orders, his eyes looking up at the clock to announce

his time of death, before they fall onto me.

My wolf tries to claw at me from inside..his only thoughts on Kala not finding him like this. She would have felt his death through the pack-link, but I couldn't let her find his lifeless body like this.

I dash out of the room, searching the corridors for her, even the waiting rooms and other rooms in the unlikely chance that she was sleeping.

"Ezra?" I roar through the mind-link to my beta.

"Alpha?" He responds instantly, registering my panic through the Dark Phantom pack-link we share.

"Kaia...is she with you, is she at the alpha house?"

"No Alpha. What's happened all the pack members have collapsed to their knees, some are even shifting "Beckett...he's dead."

""He's dead?"

"Kaia..If she returns to the house, keep her there and inform me immediately."

"Yes Alpha."

After I have exhausted every potential place in this medical centre, I return back to Alora's room to find her trying to get out of the bed. "He's dead....I can't find her, can you feel her in the pack bond?" My hands claw at my hair, that panic feg with me only strengthening. "...she's blocking me out but she is distressed. Something is wrong."

I want to scream at her but bite down on my tongue. Of course she is distressed, Beckett is dead.

"Where is she?" I roar at Alora, pure fear igniting within me. I pace the room once more, but this time like a caged lion.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

"She's blocking the entire pack out... they are waiting for her to accept the alpha title, but she isn't. Why isn't she?" Alora turns to me, her face even more pale than before.

Howls echo through the medical centre, before howls from outside join in, sharing their pain of the news. Their Alpha was dead and they have yet to be claimed

Without an alpha, each of the pack members were becoming rogues again.

"Hector..." Alora's gasp is haunting as her balance gives way and she falls back on the bed.

"Where where is she?" I grip her arm to steady her but also to emphasise the urgency I feel eating away at me to find her.

the cliff tops...hurry!"
