Chapter 2061
Beck's fingers paused on his laptop, baffled by the idea that someone could exist in this world without ever having tasted coffee. Considering Stella's thick-skinned nature and her history of deceiving him, he took her claim as nothing more than a jest. Stella, probably feeling peckish, finished off her fruit and started sucking on her fingers one by one.
A twitch formed between Beck's eyebrows. Annoyed, he grabbed a napkin from the side and threw it at her face.
"Is the Sanders family not feeding you enough?"
Stella's sly eyes narrowed, and she remained silent, taking the napkin to wipe the fruit juice from her fingers.
Her quiet demeanor made Beck wonder if he had been too harsh. Even though she wasn't lacking in food and clothing now, she must have faced hunger in the past. But from the moment she started school, she had always found a way to ensure she was well-provided for, living comfortably ever since.
To him, Bonnie and Morgan's tactics seemed amateurish, but he realized they could be devastating to someone with less resilience.
Stella continued to stay silent.
Eventually feeling a pang of guilt, Beck pushed the fruit bowl towards her. "Go ahead, eat. It's not like I said you couldn't."
Stella tossed her napkin into the trash and glanced at him before picking up another piece of fruit. Suddenly, she laughed. "Beck, I've noticed that whenever I stay quiet, you start to question yourself. You really do have high moral standards, huh?"
Beck's face stiffened, and a shadow passed over his eyes.
"Was this all on purpose?" he asked, irritation evident in his voice.
Stella shrugged, an enigmatic smile on her face.
Early in the morning, Beck found his hands trembling with frustration.
"Get out."
Stella touched her stomach, feigning pity. "Let me finish eating first, then I'll leave."
Beck scoffed, remembering how she had swindled men out of thousands of dollars, even hundreds of thousands the night before. She couldn't possibly be lacking money, let alone a piece of fruit to eat. Her pitiful act was most likely just that—an act. "Leave now!"
He grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards the living room door.
Stella was pushed out, narrowly avoiding getting her nose smashed as the door slammed shut.
Well, it seemed he was genuinely angry.
She looked down at the piece of fruit in her hand, a warm feeling passing through her eyes. This Beck, he was a good person.
After finishing his breakfast, Beck decided to call some friends for a drink but was interrupted by a servant asking, "Sir, shouldn't you invite the young lady back in?"

He frowned. "Didn't I tell her to leave?"
"The young lady didn't go far. She's been sitting in the garden outside, drinking tea for the third time now."
Beck, finding her audacity to stay unbelievable, strode towards the glass garden room. There, he found Stella indeed asleep on a lounge chair, looking utterly relaxed
"Stella, go back to your own home."
He grabbed her arm, intending to lift her up, but accidentally pulled open her collar, revealing a small scar on a burn.

Beyond that, her skin was unnaturally pale, as if it had never seen sunlight.
"If you want to sunbathe, go back to your own place."
Stella turned over. "Beck, let me sleep here a bit longer. I won't bother you in the living room, okay?"

Beck quickly averted his eyes. "Whatever."
He walked away, annoyed, but heard her voice behind him, "Thank you, Beck. You're a good person."
