Dear Contract Wife, You Are Mine

Chapter 45

May POV

Lily’s familiar car approached as I stood in front of the gate, waiting for her to show up and pick me up so we could leave already.

She soon pulled over in front of me, then wined down the glass and crooked her neck out with a warm smile on her face.

“Have I been keeping you and my godchild waiting?”

“You bet,” I rolled my eyes as I walked over to the other side of the car and hopped in the front seat with her.

“Be careful with that, please. You don’t want to hurt my godchild,” She gasped sharply and teased me as I struggled with the seatbelt.

“Thanks for your concern, but shut your mouth,” I rolled my eyes at her and relaxed on the chair once I was able to fasten my seatbelt.

“So, tell me… What did you say you wanted to tell me? I came down here because of that, so don’t keep me waiting,” She turned her attention to me with an anxious look on her face like she was desperate to hear whatever gist I had for her, and of course, I knew she was desperate for it. That’s who my crazy friend is.

“Can you drive?” I rolled my eyes at her and looked out of the window.

“You sure are unbelievable,” I heard her scoff before the sound of the car engine finally came on, and I breathed out in relief.

“So, where should we go? To the usual park or—”

“Anywhere we can get an ice cream. A cone one at that,” I rubbed my forehead gently, and she scoffed.

“Is that one of pregnancy cravings?” Her smirk welcomed me as I looked at her, and I scoffed.

“I’ve always liked cone ice cream, and you know it. Stop frustrating life out of me, bitch!” I smirked at her, and she frowned.

“”I’m hurt,” She held her chest with one hand while driving with the other one.

“I’m glad,” I smirked, and she huffed.

“You are not sweet. Anyway, I’m still waiting. What did you say you wanted to tell me? It’s about my in-law, right? Why don’t you spill it, please?”

“Why don’t you drive first, Ms? We will talk about it while licking ice cream,” Her face dropped disappointedly like she’d just lost something important to her.

“I guess I have to obey you,” She muttered as she nodded briefly, and a smile formed on my lips.

She soon drove into the park, but not the usual one we do visit, and pulled over right in front of the cone ice cream truck.

“How many should I get for you?” She looked at me once she got rid of her seatbelt.

“I’ll come with you,” I alighted from the car before her, and once she came to join me, we went over to the truck to get the ice cream.

“I like this place. Why don’t we take a walk around? It doesn’t sound bad, yeah?” I averted my gaze to her once I was done looking around the park, and she nodded affirmatively.

“So, the gist,” She reminded me as we took a walk around.

“Something happened,”

She looked at me swiftly with her eyes asking me questions. I could hear the ‘what is it? Please tell me’ written in her eyes as they stared at me like she wanted to force the answer out of me.

“What happened, girl? Did you two finally do it? I mean, did he make love to you? How was he on bed? You know you were drunk last time, so you could not remember how he was. Tell me… Did he make you scream? How many times did you orgasm? Please tell me, I’m dying to know what happened,” She whined as she tugged on my arm, and I scoffed unbelievably.

“Maybe you should just die,” She paused and quickly removed her hand from mine and stepped away.

“That was too mean. Anyway, it’s fine. Please tell me what happened,” She whined anxiously, and I sighed.

“We didn’t do anything,”

She sighed disappointedly and rolled her eyes.

“I thought that was the gist I was going to get…” She paused and shook her head. “What’s taking you two so long, by the way? Don’t you find him sexually attractive, or is the problem from him? You are a beautiful young woman, and I’m sure he sees that, so why the delay?” She looked at me with disappointment written all over her.

“Has anyone ever told you this before?” I looked at her once I stopped walking, and she raised her eyebrows as she muttered ‘what?’.

“That you look cute when you don’t talk,” I smirked at her, and she huffed.

“I’m just looking out for you,” She shrugged.

“I see. Anyway, it’s about Liam,”

She averted her gaze to me so fast with a deep frown on her face.

“What does that jerk want again? Is he pestering you?” She frowned deeply with rage in her eyes like she would devour Liam if she sets eyes on him.

“Nothing…” I paused then shrugged and continued. “Well, we happened to bump into eachother somewhere, and he offered to drop me off because I could not get a cab. Miles made a whole big deal out of it, and we quarrelled,” I shrugged, and she ran her fingers through her hair like she was going crazy.

“Why would you agree for him to go drop you off? Did you want Miles to misunderstand you two?”

“Are you blaming me for what happened?” I scoffed unbelievably.

“No, I wasn’t. You had a crush on that guy, and there must’ve still been some chemistries between you two. You shouldn’t hang out with him. You know I never liked him,” She rolled her eyes and turned her face away. Well, Lily never really liked Liam. Why? That was because he had a crush on another student instead of me who showed it to him that I liked him.

‘He is a jerk! Isn’t it obvious that you like him? Why would he do that to you? I’m going to teach that bastard a lesson’ I remembered back then in school when he confessed to his crush, how Lily was ready to tear him down even though it was crazy.

“Why did you allow him to know where you live though?”

“Well…” I paused, not knowing whether or not to tell her the truth. I knew it wasn’t a good idea and she would flare up if she found out he lives nextdoor, but I could not also lie to her.

“I think he lives nextdoor. He is my neighbor,” A scoff tore through her throat.

“Neighbor? Is he stalking you now? Ugh! What does he want now? To make my in-law think you two are seeing eachother and ruin your marriage?” She flared up as she tucked her hair behind her ear, leaving me speechless.

“Can you calm down, Lily? He doesn’t even know I lived around there—”

“How sure are you about that? Did he tell you that and you believed him? Ugh! Gosh! You are still so gullible,” she huffed.

“Why would he stalk me?”

“Because he is a jerk! If he tries something stupid, call me right away, and I will make sure I put him in his place. I will make sure he ends up in jail and rots there,”

“By the way… How about Miles? How did he react?” Her mood suddenly changed into a curious one as she looked at me.

“He flare up… We quarrelled over it—”© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Her cheeks flushed as a smile formed on her face.

“And what would that be?”

“I think Miles is in love with you. The other time, he fired someone because of you, and now he is angry because you were around another man. Don’t deny it, girl. Don’t you think he really likes you?” She faced me and blinked her eyes cutely.

My heart fluttered and a shy smile formed on my lips. The thought of it brought butterflies to my stomach, and I somehow wanted to hold on to that fact, hoping it was true, because I already fell for him.

“Look at you… You are flushing,” She pointed at me and chuckled.

“Whatever!” I rolled my eyes and walked ahead of her.

“Wait for me,” She ran up to catch up with me, and clunged her arm to mine.

“I hope Miguel and I get along soon enough,” She sighed while resting her head on my arm.

“I hope so too,”

The thought of that man crossed my mind, and for a second, I really wanted to tell her what was going on in my life, but a part of me kept telling me that it was not the right time to do that just yet.

‘I will tell her when I’ve sort everything out’ I told myself…
