Chapter 17
Title: Funtime with Lily
“I think you should buy this. It’ll look good on you,” Lily picked a black t-shirt and sampled it on Miguel’s body, while he just stood with his hands tucked inside his pockets frustratingly.
“I don’t like it,” He replied to her casually, and she rolled her eyes.
“Come on, Miguel. It would look really good on you,” Lily insisted, and Miguel briefly sighed.
“Can you stop trying your best, Ms. Lily? I’m not interested in you. I already have a girlfriend,” Miguel said to her politely, crushing the last hope she had left in her. Her hand dropped to her side, and she bit her bottom lip.
“You will find someone who would love you, but that person is not me, so can you please quit being like this?” Miguel further said as he looked her in the eyes.
“I really don’t have a problem with your girlfriend, Miguel. You are not married yet, and there is every chance that I can still win you over and snatch you from your girlfriend,” She shrugged once she got back her confidence, managing to put on a small smile as she looked back at him, and Miguel sighed.
He hated to admit that he was impressed with her guts and confidence. She was a very beautiful and charming young lady with sexy body he couldn’t help but notice on the first day they met, those charming blue eyes that caught his attention first, but he was trying not to fall for this young lady even though his heart was starting to betray him.
“You are crazy,” He mumbled then scoffed and turned away from her. She was everything cute. The cutest and most courageous woman he ever met, but still, he couldn’t allow himself to fall for her.
“So, what do you say? You will go out on a date with me tomorrow, yeah?” She asked as she went to stand in front of him.
“Fine! You win!” He hated to admit that he wanted to spend time with this young lady too, but why was he resisting himself when he didn’t even have a woman in his life? Maybe he wasn’t just ready for a committed relationship, who knows?
“Yes!” She squeaked excitedly.
“I’m going to buy you the clothes you would use for the date. So, let’s go over there,” She held his hand and dragged him with her before he could say anything.
Miguel watched as she selected a pair of cute trousers and a shirt, not without a pair of sneakers to perfect everything.
“You don’t need to pay for it. I will pay the bill,” Miguel spoke up when she was done picking the clothes.
“What did I say before we came here? I told you I was going to pay for it, so, just watch me do my thing,” She turned to him and winked. A wink that made his heart flutter. Gosh! What was she doing to him?
“Hmm,” he just nodded.
“We are done here now. Let’s go make the payment,” She held his hand and dragged him again as they both went to the cashier where they made the payment.
“I will help you carry some of that,” Lily offered as she held out her hand for him to hand her one of the five shopping bags he was carrying.
“Don’t worry, I can handle them,” Miguel refused her, and she rolled her eyes.
“I know you can, but I insist. I’m not that heartless to watch you holding so many bags while I’m going empty-handed,” She insisted, and he finally handed her two of the bags.
“You are not going to get clothes for yourself too?” Miguel asked as they walked down the mall.
“I already have tons of clothes at home. I don’t want to buy more,” She shook her head.
“But you should still get some clothes, at least one. I will pay for it. Just take it as an appreciation for helping me out here and also for the clothes you got for me,” He insisted, and she shrugged as she was left with no choice at that point.
“It’s over there,” Miguel said as he pointed toward the place where Miles and May went to get clothes earlier, so they walked over there.
After they were finally done shopping, they left for the parking lot where their car was parked earlier, and just when they stepped out of the mall, their phones beeped almost at the same time.
‘I have something to deal with urgently, so I left with May. You can find your way home with Lily. Be nice to her. Remember, she’s our in-law’ Miguel scoffed after he read through the text. He was sure Miles had nothing to deal with, but this was just a set-up to get him and Lily to spend some more time together.
‘Hey, annoying best friend. We left earlier. Enjoy your time with Miguel. Don’t overdo things, anyway. Just a friendly advice from a friend that loves and cares for you’ A smile laced up Lily’s face as she read through the text from May.
“Miles said they left already. I’ll go drop you off at your house and go back home,” Miguel said to her casually and walked ahead of her to where their car was parked.
“You would have to take me to your house. My car is still there, so I need to get it before I go home,” Lily replied to him as she trailed behind him.
Miguel wordlessly pulled the car door open and hopped inside, and Lily hopped inside beside him in the front seat.
“You should use your seatbelt,” Miguel reminded her as he fastened his seatbelt, and she fastened hers quickly. The ride back home began.
“Thanks for today,” Lily said on their way home.
“Hmm,” He hummed and nodded.
“So, what time should we make our date tomorrow? Do you think we should leave in the morning and go back home at night? We could spend all day together, I don’t mind,” she uttered and prayed silently for him to say it was fine with him.
“I have to resume work the day after tomorrow, so I can’t hang out like that for a long time. I need to be back home early and prepare for work,” He replied to her, his face not leaving the road as he drove down the driveway.
“Wow! What type of work is that?” Lily couldn’t help but ask him out of curiosity.
“I’m a…” Miguel’s voice trailed off when his phone began ringing, so he pulled over at the side of the road and answered the phone.
“Hey, Lucas,” Miguel said on the phone as soon as he answered the phone, and his expression changed after a few seconds.
“Like right now?” He spoke on the phone.
“Shit!” He cursed under his breath as he slammed his hand on the steering wheel, and Lily’s heart skipped nervously.
“Is everything alright?” She whispered as he was still on the phone.
“Alright. I will let Miles know about it right away. Yes, I’ll meet you there,” He finally ended the call after his last words.
“Is everything alright?” Lily asked worriedly.
“Yes. Everything is fine. Ms. Lily…” He called then paused and removed the seatbelt from his body.
“I think you would have to find your way back home. You can drive this model of car, yeah?” He asked, and she raised her eyebrows as her eyes narrowed.
“Wh… wh…”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t go home with you. Something urgent came up that needs my attention right away,” He explained to her, and she blinked her eyes rapidly.
“Let me have your phone,” He held out his hand to her, and she placed her phone on it. He inputted his number into the phone and gave it back to her.
“That’s my number. Call me,” He uttered then pushed the door open and stepped out of the car hurriedly, leaving Lily confused.
“Just give the car keys to sister-in-law when you get home,” He said before he rushed off, and Lily stared in shock and confusion.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
