**Six Years later**
I woke up from my peaceful sleep as soon as I heard the alarm I set go off, indicating it is six am in the morning. I turned it off before ssitting up on the bed. I was about to stand up when I heard a knock on my door.
“Come in.” I said as I scratched my blurry eyes. The door creaked open and I saw Molly’s small head peeping through the small open space. She smiled before walking in fully.
“Good morning mummy.” She said as she stood in front of me. I wrapped my hands around her tiny body before lifting her on my lap.
“Morning. How is my little princess doing? I asked as I pinched her cheek softly.
“Great.” She answered with a like smile on her face.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
“Why are you away so early?” I asked when I finally recalled what time it was.
“I was reprimanded by my teacher for being late yesterday. I didn’t want it to happen again so I pleaded with nanny Abigail to wake me up early and she did.” She answered.
“You could have just set an alarm. It would be much better than making nanny Abigail wake you up very early everyday.” I adviced.
“No way. I tried it once and it didn’t end well. I kept snoozing the alarm till I finally turned it off. And I was still late. Not everyone can be like you that wakes up at the first ring of the alarm.” She answered which made me frown.
I was not really used to an alarm till I got married to Jason. When we were together, I usually wake up at the first ring of the alarm so I could help Jason prepare for work and eventually, I got used to it.
Just a reminder of how I was at that time was able to put a frown on my face.
“Did I say something wrong mummy?” I heard Molly ask cautiously when she noticed the frown my face.
“No baby. I was just remembering something.” I answered.
“Is it the same thing that always give you nightmares everynight?” She asked again.
I stared at her in surprise. How did she know?? I didn’t know what to say. I was about to give her an excuse when he heard a knock on the door. I sighed in relief.
“Come in.” I answered and nanny Abigail walked in.
“Good morning.” She greeted and I answered her.
“I wanted to get Molly so she could prepare for schod.” Nanny Abigail said.
“Okay. You can take her.” I said before placing Molly on the floor.
“Go and get ready for school.” I said to her.
“Okay Mommy. Race you to my room.” Molly said as she ran past nanny Abigail.
“Stop running.” Nanny Abigail said as she tried to catch up with her.
Oh God. That are a really close one. If nanny Abigail hadn’t entered, I wouldn’t have known what to tell Molly. That the person that gives me sleepless nights and haunts me in my dreams was her very own father.
How would I be able to tell her that I was abused by her father? It has been six years but it still feels like yesterday that I ran away from Jason and left for Seattle.
I admit it was the best decision I could ever make because I couldn’t imagine birthing my baby in that home. I didn’t want her to grow up in an environment where her mother was constantly assaulted by her father.
I wanted her to grow up in an household that was filled with love. That was why I moved back in with my parents here in Seattle. It was really hard to find them because after I left when I got married to Jason they moved out of our former home.
After searching for a while, I was finally able to find them. At first, they were angry and didn’t want to let me in not until I explained all that I had went through.
My parents, well my dad especially got so mad that he wanted to report Jason to the authorities but I begged him not to. I didn’t wanto drag Jason’s attention to myself when I had finally freed myself from his clutches.
I wanted to start a new and happy life and him having his eye sight on me and my daughter can’t help me. After much pleading from me and Mom, Dad finally agreed and buried the idea.
For eight months, I was at home with my parents providing for me till I put to bed. After staying at home and nursing Molly for an extra one year, I decided to start working because my parents couldn’t keep taking care of me for the rest of their lives. I told them about my plans but they didn’t agree at first but after much persuasion from me, they let me work.
I applied for different interviews in different hospitals but only one called me back. Then I hired nanny Abigail because I figured the work load would be too much on my parents.
After working dilligently for four years, I was promoted to be the director and my paycheck increased. I made sure my family never lacked. I was able to build my own house and purchace two new cars. One for my parents and one for me.
Though I had a house, I still lived with my parents because they didn’t want me and Molly out of their sights. I agreed and lived with them. The past few years had been really lively. I was finally able to breath. I had even changed my name back to Natasha Roberts which is my father’s last name.
It was enough for me to forget about everything I had gone through in the hands of Jason but I still chose to remember. I didn’t want to forget the man made me live through hell. That broke me almost to the point of no return.
I didn’t want to forget all that I went through so I wouldn’t make the same mistake again. But the decision of not forgetting was the reason I had sleepless nights and see him torturing me in my dreams.
Because of that, I don’t go to sleep sometimes. I decided not to use sleeping pills because I didn’t want to get addicted to it. It has been like this for a very long time that I have gotten used to seeing his haunting face in my dreams. And I know it won’t stop until I try to forget evertything that had happened.
I sighed and stood up from the bed before going into the bathroom. I did my business there before putting on my work outfit. I picked up my handbag before heading downstairs.
The smell of freshly baked bread filled my nostrils the moment I got to the kitchen. Mom was the one cooking. Molly was also in the kitchen, having her breakfast.
“Good morning mom.” I greeted as I hugged her from behind.
“Morning. How was your night?” She asked, giving me a knowing look. She was talking about my nightmares.
“Same old.” I answered making her stare at me in worry.
“I really think you need to see a…”
“I’m fine mom.” I whispered, cutting her off. I didn’t want Molly to listen to what were saying.
“But…”
“Where’s dad?” I asked, changing the subject.
“He went jogging.” She answered.
“Okay. We will be leaving now.” I said when I saw that Molly was done eating.
“Are you not going to eat?” Mom asked.
“I’m not hungry.” I answered.
“At least take this, in case you get hungry later.” She said, giving me a packed lunch box.
“Thank you.” I muttered as collected it.
“Also, come back early because we are having visitors today.” Mom said.
“Who is it?” I asked.
“Just an old friend of your father.” Mom answered.
“Okay. Let’s go Molly.” I said and she stood up.
“Good bye Grandrna.” She said as She picked up her school bag.
“Bye princess. Make sure you be a good girl in school.” Mom said to her.
“Okay.” I held Molly’s hand before we got to the parking lot. We got into my car and I drove off. I dropped her at school first before heading to the hospital.
After a really stremove day at the hospital, I headed back home. I didn’t bother picking Molly from school because Dad had already done it.
I got home only to meet two fancy cars in our garage. Dad’s friend must be really loaded to be able to afford the. I was about to enter inside the house another car came in. Who is this?
I stood, waiting to see who it was. When the driver finally parked the car, the back door was opened and the person seating in came out. I gasp escaped my mouth when I saw who he was. What the hell is he doing here??
I was about to go inside so he wouldn’t see me but it was too late.
“Natasha??” I heard him call in surprise.
