25 Chapter
Two weeks passed. Penelope moved in with Ethan the next day, as they had agreed. Their days were filled with love and tenderness. Sometimes, their nights became more passionate.
Ethan forbade Pen to work at the restaurant; she didn’t mind. She loved him and did not want to argue with him, especially since he knew better what was better for her. After winning the competition and winning the title of champions, Sam decided to cut back on training, and only had one a week. Ethan had new projects, even decided to create his own. Dance Olympus, a dance show, was now looking for sponsors. Pen was sitting at home, her phone rang unexpectedly.
“Yes,” she answered.
“Hello, Pen,” it was George.
“Hello, George.”
“Pen, I understand everything, but I really need your help.”
“What’s going on?”
“You haven’t talked to Beth in a while, have you?”
“Yeah. Why?”
“Pen, let’s get together, it’s a matter of life and death.”
“I don’t know, really.”
“Pen, I want to propose to her. I realize she’s exactly the right girl for me.”
“Okay,” she agreed.
“Great, meet me outside Central Park in twenty minutes, just don’t say anything to Ethan,” he said and dropped the phone.
Pen was very happy for Beth, so she was willing to help George, even though Ethan asked her to stay away from him.
They met exactly twenty minutes later.
“Hi,” he said as he got out of the car.
“Hey, good for you,” she said.
” I’m happy for you, too, I hear you live with Ethan.”
“Yeah, Ethan and I are together. We love each other.@
“Just because you’ve slept together doesn’t mean love. I shouldn’t care, though.”
“George, I love him.”
“Suit yourself, Pen. I thought you were smarter than that and wouldn’t let him anywhere near you.”
“I love him, George, okay?”
“Congratulations to you.”
“Does Ethan know you’re seeing me?”
“No, he doesn’t know. You texted me not to tell him. So what’s going on with you?”
“Nothing, I just missed you.”
“That’s not funny, George. So what did you want to prepare for Beth?”
“I’m not kidding, Pen. Did you really think I was just telling you about Ethan? I only did it so he wouldn’t have you. I told you about her so you’d come, or you wouldn’t have done it.”
” But why? You tricked me.”
” Because I wanted you. It’s obvious.”
“George, I’m shocked, I don’t know what to say,” was the only thing she said.
“Nothing, get in the car, I’ll take you to your beloved Ethan. All this confession, all this for nothing,” he added and opened the back door for her.
“There’s no safety belt in the front seat, so sit in the back seat,” Pen explained.
– Okay,” she agreed and got into the car.
They drove in silence. Pen did not understand why George had not told her from the beginning. She thought his behavior was strange.
“Are you thirsty?” George asked, holding out a bottle of water.
“Thank you,” she thanked, taking a few sips.
“You’re welcome,” he replied and took the bottle away. They drove in silence, but after a few minutes, Pen felt a slight dizziness and weakness.
“Look, I’m sick of her, shut her up,” George told Michael. Michael walked over to Pen, took a piece of duct tape and tore off a small piece and taped it to her mouth.
“That’s better,” George said, and sitting down next to Pen, he squeezed her cheekbones with his fingers and began to speak.
“Pen, you’re an idiot if you believe me. I had thought of everything from the beginning. You couldn’t stand the death of your parents, and you blame Mr. Palmers for not being able to find their killer, couldn’t you?”
“How does he know all this?” flashed through her mind.
“Mmm,” was the only thing she could utter.
“Well, I killed them. Brutalized them,” Pen couldn’t believe it was true. She tried to hit George, but she couldn’t move because she was tied up.
“Don’t kick, baby,” he reassured her, grabbing her painfully by the hair.
“George, is it true?” Michael had already asked him.
“Michael, it shouldn’t concern you.”
“I don’t want any part of this anymore, I’m sorry. ”
“Yeah? Well, you liked fucking Kelly. So why are you running away now?”
“I didn’t think you were capable of murder, that’s different.”
“Michael, then, you’d better go,” George told him.
“I will,” Michael replied and walked out of the house, leaving George and Pen alone.
Pen couldn’t believe that Kelly was involved with George and Michael either.
“You want to know the reason I did all this, don’t you?”Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Pen only nodded her head.
“Your parents had my cousin killed ten years ago. You were just a baby, but Kelly was twenty-two years old . He wasn’t from your circle, he was a common laborer who fell in love with your sister. They met on a summer internship in Texas. Kelly dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.”
Kelly fell in love with him right away, too. Carter was a nice guy.
But he didn’t fit in with your family, his parents were simple laborers. And he lived in Texas, where your sister wanted to move. But they wouldn’t let her, they said they would disinherit her if she made such a rash move. Moreover, they had already looked for someone more suitable for her.
Suddenly the door to the house opened, and Kelly appeared in the doorway.
Was it really true? And Kelly planned the whole thing? – Pen couldn’t believe it.
“Hello, little sister. Beloved daughter, unfortunately of our now deceased parents.”
“Hello, darling,” she leaned over to George and kissed him passionately.
“It’s good to see you, darling.”
“Have you told her the sad story yet?”
-“Yes, I was just about to finish it.”
“Then leave it, I’ll go on by myself,” interrupted Kelly, sitting down on the bed.
“Where were you?” she asked him.
– That you were going to run away with Carter.
“So listen further, Pen. I ran away, and I was happy with him. I didn’t care about the inheritance, all I cared about was him. But my parents didn’t accept my choice. When my father’s men found me and Carter, they just picked me up and took me away from him forever.
They offered Carter money to leave me alone, but he refused. When he came to kidnap me, they were already waiting for him. When he resisted, my father’s guard shot him. He killed him. You have no idea what I went through. What it means to lose someone you love, at the behest of your own father.”
Pen couldn’t believe that her father had actually ordered the guard to kill Carter. The whole thing just didn’t fit in her head.
